    Thank you for this! First car I have ever had without anchors in the bottom. Kids about to hit the weight limit for those anyway. Thanks for this! Easy to understand and follow.

    This video was very helpful! I can read the manuals over and over about using a seat belt rather than the latch system but it's so much easier to understand with a visual. Thank you!

    When I was a mom of babies, my boys are now in their 30s, I wanted to make sure my babies were safe and I pulled that belt back hard after buckling it. Good for me I guess☺

    I don't believe he explains a switchable retractor correctly. This car features two types of retractors in the rear seatbelt. The two types of seat belt rectractors are ELR and ALR. ELR retractors make it so a seatbelt reacts to an emergency, where it locks when a sudden jerk happens. The ALR, which should be only used for a child car seat(NOT BOOSTER) is a system when the seat belt is extended to a certain point it prevents the seat belt from extending further and only will retract until another point is reached where it will allow the belt to extend again.

      Thanks for the explanation! I was trying to find out why my Honda Jazz rear seat belt acts differently from the front seat belts.. Now I understand that the rear is ALR.. I keep having trouble trying to extend the rear seatbelt when installing the child seat booster, the only way is to retract fully before it can extend again :( I thought that my seat belt is faulty

    Thank you! Because of this video, I found out my car's seat belt system is too cheap! And they didn't even include a locking clip! Effing 3rd-world cost-cutting shite. Shame on you, Mitsubishi.

      @STEAM Befreiungsgruppe GG 139 Hello. We understand there can be some very tough situations. As far as the retractor not locking, not all do. Sometimes the latch-plate locks instead, depending on how the car maker designed the system. You may be in a situation where you have resort to "special needs" car seats that are able to keep the kids safe despite their disabilities. Please feel free to contact us at support @ SafeRide4Kids.com (no spaces) for specifics options that might work for you.

    Thank you so much but I need help still.
    I got my baby seat installed from the technician but I had adjust it and I cannot get it sorted again...They used a locking clip on the ( retractor side before it goes thru the baby seat) and my seat belt is also a switchable locking retractor type - on the seatbelt it even gives the same instructions to activate locking pull the belt all the way out. So I've done it and the baby seat is tight, my question is, do I still need the locking clip and also shouldn't the locking clip go closer to the buckle, rather than the retractor side??

    • @Saferide4kids
      @Saferide4kids  2 роки тому

      Hi. Correct, if you have a good install (less than 1" of movement at the belt path) with the seat belt locked, then there is no need for a locking clip also. And if you were to use the locking clip - which again you don't need to in your case - the locking clip should be attached on the seat belt no more than an inch from the latch plate (the seat belt side of the buckle mechanism).

      @@Saferide4kids @Safe Ride 4 Kids thank you so much.
      @Safe Ride 4 Kids thank you so much. I found a few Google results that said "in Australia they have been trained to put the locking clip on the retractor side of the belt before it passes through the child seat which is incorrect".
      And my god, trying to put the locking clip on the retractor side is so dang hard, I really don't understand how the technician did it the first time!
      The only concern I have is that the sash part of the seat belt now slightly pulls up at the child seat area. Is that a big concern? Google says it's ok but that a locking clip could also be used (at retractor side) to pull the sash away from the seat. But again, it's nearly impossible to install in this manner!?

      @@kylejuelfs6401 1. Does the seat have a lock off built in? If so, try using that following the instructions in the manual whether or not to lock the seat belt also. If not, you can usually make some adjustments making sure the lap portion is staying tight when tightening the seat belt or even loosen the seat belt a touch (depending on how tight you have it -- remember it can move a little as long as it's less than 1 inch at the belt path) to get it to stop tilting. If not built-in lock off and you can stop the seat from tilting using the seat belt you can use the locking clip. Leave the seat belt unlocked and put the locking clip no more than 1 inch from the latch plate to lock the lap portion of the seat belt tight to hold the car seat securely and keep the shoulder portion from tilting the seat.

      @@Saferide4kids thanks. I'll try that.
      And the seat does not include another locking mechanism. I don't think I'll have much luck with the locking clip being close to the buckle, just no room. And putting it there won't alleviate the sash from pulling on the restraint either so

      This video is specific to knowing how to lock the seat belt for installing car seats. No car seat necessary for that. The following videos show how to install the car seat and do include car seats.
