i thought wet carbon was because the resin is painted or infused to the weave in excess leaving you with the glossy look and DRY carbon is coating each specific weave of carbon in the exact right amount of epoxy with heavy quality control to insure zero excess and that's why its often matte looking because its for strength/function specifically

Different procedures for wet and dry. Doesn’t have to do with the finish, but the actual product material.
