Great band.. Go see them live if you can... I have seen them 6 times live and they just get better and better and better. The play with such class and power and poise, fantastic shows...

you almost certainly didnt go to glastonbury and if you did you would of probably stood there going on about how good lady gaga and the black eyed peas were with all the 12 year olds.
the maccabees are a realy good brtish band who play all there own instruments and write there own music. maybe people should be getting behind bands like these instead of listening to awfully bad factory produced music ( if you can call it that)
Travis whom I love are just so lacking in substance compared to these. These lot you can tell eat haggis and drink tonnnes of whisky. Are proud of their heritage through and through! Also they have the look of extras from the video of come on Eileen, by dexy's madnight runners. Not neccesarily a bad thing!
The trumpet section from 2.42 - 2.55 is just a sublime musical moment - finest 13 seconds of music I've heard in a long time. BUT they should have repeated it at least one more time - this sort of musical joy doesn't come along very often - they should have induldged themselves and us for just a little longer.
a previous comment said they thought main singer resembled actor ed westwick who plays chuck in 'gossip girl', and hence i replied thinking this was not the case. however whenever i reply to comments on youtube it never seems to appear directly under that persons comment which i responded to! longwinded but Now you know!
it's great, I loved it instantly, but I don't think it sounds anything like Arcade Fire.
I doubt they'll be forgotten in 12 months they've been around since November 2005. They're a good band (In my opinion anyway). I just don't understand why people decide to first of all look up the videos that they don't like, and then comment on them... What are you achieving ?

As for the vid: I love it. The Maccabees have this 'honest' thing going on in their songs. Makes it more relatable i guess. Great song, great band. I'm a fan.
in fairness aha shake heartbreak is easily one of the best albums ever made, i do agree dey arent as gud now bu 2 say dey only hav 1 gud album is a lie, even because of the times is a great album compared 2 most
2.42 - 2.54 - Those trumpets! Now that's quality playing/production. They should have repeated though - what a musical moment. Transcends all musical genres - Mozart would have enjoyed that.
This song is a bit of a let down, to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great song, but it doesn't feel like The Maccabees. I'll wait for the album before making a final judgement.

I hear it too... theres definitely a morrissey influence. I like how they havent completely copied their style, the maccabees are more sort of contemporary I guess?
HAHA, Last.fm told me that this is similar to Bombay bicycle club, two door cinema clum foals and cold war kids, but the vocals actually kind of remind me of arcade fire ! ?
I saw them in Warsaw. Way better than Editors they supported! At the beginning they won the crowd saying a few words in Polish (smart :>). And then they went wild :)

Was produced by the same guy that did Arcade Fire's previous album so that's probably why it sounds similar :)

Yeah. I think (without getting too technical) it's a very similar vocal reverb that they've used on his vocals.
