    Raw vegan for 6 years made me become pre-diabetic and with serious joints problems. Meats, eggs and leafy salads for me and everything turned right. The challenge that Sami and his wife Meredith took is very inspiring, they should be in more documentaries and interviews, both of them ✨🏆✨

    I am so glad I found out about the LCHF diet before I was soon going to be a pre diabetic. I was eating far too much sugar and junk carbohydrates and if I had continued going in that direction I am sure I would probably be a diabetic by now. I have epilepsy and my seizures have reduced tremendously now that I am eating as much saturated fat as I want. I often don't have lunch because my breakfast fills me up for the whole day and I get asked "aren't you hungry?" No because fat lasts so much longer.

      Aaron Horak it takes a while to adjust. Make sure fluid and salt 🧂 intake is good. Lemons and lime in waters is helpful as well. I did mine gradually so I kept some fruit in then slowly weened off.

    I am looking forward to this documentary. Thank you for putting the hard work into it, as you did with the first Cereal Killers movie.

    Rather than beat our brains out trying to convince these nay-sayers that this is perfectly (much more) healthy, let's just be done with them and let the keep doing what's "working" for them as they stay in great shape whilst developing type 2 diabtes. Have fun guys!

    The best publicity this film could have, and judging by the amount of views and comments, its Vegan Gains doing a video about this. Donal, you know this is true dude

    Lets look at this subject from a common-sense point of view. Grains (all grains) are monocotyledens (grasses) and the ONLY animals on this planet, which can digest grasses are ruminators (deer, sheep, bovine, horses, goats, you get it, right?). I am diabetic BECAUSE OF CARBOHYDRATES. Okay, I ate too much carohydrate-laden food. The bottom line here is this: Humans should not be eating grains. That's the pure and simple truth. To become NON-diabetic, I forced myself to cut out only two food groups: All Grains and All Processed Foods. That leaves fresh, green vegetables, some fruits, meat, eggs and dairy. Oh, and ice cubes! :O)

      one of the main reason grains are popular is simply that they are cheap and can feed an abundance of people. We tend to forget that most of the foods we eat started to come into use for purely practical and survival necessity, like potatoes: they are poisonous but we adapted to eat them because they grow easily eerywhere and therefore people live eating them. From that to say that some diets can be more beneficial there is quite some ground to cover. On top of that every single person reacts differently to diets and it may work for some and not for others.

      Logic central grains didnt become a predominate part of the human diet until after 10,000 bc. After that people got shorter, developed more cavities and cancer started appearing in the archeological record.

    • @fuq1nutube
      @fuq1nutube 7 років тому

      Logic central i didnt say they didnt eat them. They just weren't their main source of nutrition. If grains were, then human skeltons wouldnt have changed after 10,000 bc.(agricultural revolution)

    • @fuq1nutube
      @fuq1nutube 7 років тому

      Logic central you should add "iL" to the beginning of your youtube name. Have fun with you diabetes

      Logic central illogic central the article talks about the evidence that a starch based diet weakened humans. They became smaller had less bone density became more susceptible to disease had anemia and malnutrition. They traded quality for quantity. Its all in that article. Also the brain is 65% fat. It only runs on carbs If you eat a lot of carbs. There are no essential carbohydrates. None. You need amino acids(protein) and fatty acids. Glucose can be made from protein(gluconeogensis) so you dont need to ingest fruit. You only need vegetables for fiber and the trace elements they contain. Amylase is probably a reaction to eating starched based diets for 10,000 years. There is also evidence that humans brain size increase coincidede with an increase in fatty meat and fish ingestion

    2:15 - ... the second reason is that they do not want to give their competitive advantage away. I.e. low carbs. This is sad, it means that sports is a thing that is diametrically opposed to science and health, and athletes are anti-social.

    Hi Donal just saw the fun film and it was great, very interesting. Do you think this diet is healthy for everyone ? I'd love to do it but I'm afraid I'll lose to much weight if I cut carbs that low. I have an ectomorph body type. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it, thanks.

    How cool is that! The overweight high fat 'endurance athlete' with the man boobs is priceless! Check out his face in 2:40 :-) I am looking forward to watching the whole thing - best advertisement for the high carb lifestyle I have seen in quite a while! Thanks!
    In the meantime I keep doing my 5 hour long runs on Saturdays without running out of carbs. Ever seen a marathon/ultramarathon event? Yes, they eat and drink. That is the secret :-)

      Seems like that must have been some time ago ;-) Just guessing. Seems to be more of an entrepreneur these days. BTW: Did he do the 8:24 while in ketosis and without any carbs?
      What is his current (2015) marathon time (ketosis, no carbs)?

    • @donaloneill8502

      Not at all. He gained 27lbs for the Pacific Ocean Row in June '14 but STILL won the Wildflower Tri (w/o training for it) just prior. All fat adapted - as was the 08. 24 Ironman. Suspect you have no interest in watching the movie due to existing belief structures but do bear in mind Sami was pre diabetic before moving towards fat adaptation from a damaging (to him) super low fat, high carb fueling strategy. Health & Performance do not good bedfellows make.

      Donal O' Neill These guys... you just want to smack 'em.

    • @highcarbschwabe658
      @highcarbschwabe658 9 років тому

      Donal O' Neill I do not rely on belief structures. This is one reason why I keep asking annoying questions.
      My questions were: 1. Did he have any carbs - yes or no? 2. What is his current marathon time?
      As for the pacific ocean row, that reminds me of Reinhold Messner and Arved Fuchs crossing antarctica on skis. They relied on fat as fuel because the weight of their provisions had to be minimized. Had quite a hard time but succeeded.

      Nathan Casey This movie is about performance Nathan. The watch does not lie. An 08:24 Ironman on whole foods & high fat is world class. Period.

      Donal O' Neill They won't be happy until it's a world record on whole foods and high fats. Btw, according to Noakes, Paula Newby-Fraser ate relatively lower carb, higher fat than what was recommended during her era. But athletes sort of hid their dietary preferences if it didn't fit the standard recommendations. Same with Mark Allen. Dave Scott, on the other hand, did all his races on a vegan diet. That must also be kept pretty quiet because you don't see these crackpot vegans on YT trumpeting it left, right and center. That or the profile of Ironman Triathlon is a little elitist and isn't in the consciousness of the general population or vegans.
