Hey man please reply I have a 06 c55 amg positive negative wires touched from previous owner. Car will not start but turn accessory on like stereo and dash but steering wheel don’t unlock or no start. But I can hear steering wheel key lock when putting key in. Do you think I need a new Esl or ignition and key programmed to start
@@yoknowkyoknow9935 If I'm understanding you correctly it sounds like you may need either the ESL or new ignition module (box behind the dash where the key goes) It's been awhile since this repair, but I believe a temporary plastic key comes with that so you can limp the car to the dealer so they can program the new parts to your car. I know its frustrating and hope this helps you!
Many people seen on UA-cam can synchronize all 3 components if you remove them and send them in or get lucky with a locksmith, only 1 I know is in Dallas.
Hi great video, what kind of tool do you used to get the pin out? How did you remove it? I watched a lot videos but I think they were newest benz, are totally different to a 04, 07 C240 and is not that easy to get the ESL, even the steering column out, your video help me a lot thx.
Thank you very much for your response and feedback! I actually used a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel to cut the pins :) It requires laying on your back and looking up at the ignition lock on the steering column. I put some tin foil down on the floor of the car to protect the carpet from sparks as you cut. It doesn't take too long to cut them :)
Hello there, hope u are well, i had the same problem with a C180 and was looking how to take this F*** pin off, I bought the whole starting kit to replace it, do you know if once the whole system be changed i will have to sync something? it should works?
I would only be guessing, but I would think if you bought the part from Mercedes it would be synced to your car. Sorry for the delay and hope your up and running. Stay safe!
No it's not that bad at all! Fun actually! There was no way I was going to pull the steering wheel off and do it that way. I'm Glad you got it working 👍. Did yours come with the temporary programming key?
Thank you for such a nice video, I still didn .t get to see how remove it. I got stuck on how to remove it.
Thank you very much it's a great video thank you for your time and don't think whatsoever about empty shells they are everywhere
Your welcome, sorry for the late reply. Hope this was helpful!
can i ask you from were did you bought the new ESL please?
Do you have to program the new ignition switch to the steering lock? I changed the ignition switch on my c230 but still the key won't turn.
Yes you do.
why did you have to remove the center consule? when the esl in on the steering colume?
If I get a new eis do I have to program it? Or does it start. My key is new my ignition is new but my eis isn’t
Very helpful I have a 1999 e320 doing the same thing.. and No One seems to have the k owledge about this

Would a e430 be the same way I'm having the exact same problem ordered new 300$ fob and nuthing not even a lil bit won't turn or anything
Hey Steve I would suspect that you have the same problem. Hope this gets you going again 🙏
I'm looking at a E500 with this issue. The key won't turn and the steering lock does not engage. Nice to know where to start looking.
Hope this helps you. Let me know if you have further questions :)
my local dealership is saying I need to tow it in to get this all done? how do you go about reprogramming it?
It came with a reprogramming key. Hope this helps!

not posible to get the esl off the colum removing just the ping without the drilling?? thnks!!
I think this is the only way to remove it unless you remove the steering column.
Cac you show me the other end of the esl

@@drivingthebenz802 thanks for your answer, I already change the whole start kit and works perfectly 👍

@@drivingthebenz802 no, actually i bought the kit by eBay and it came with the proper key
I bought my ESL at the dealership. You'll need proof that your the owner. Hope this helps!
Hi how much did you pay for the ESL at the dealership?
Why not tell everyone that it didn't work? The new esl has to be programmed to the ignition and key.
that was my thought @@jeffmccain9204
I need to take the steering lock off but I certainly don’t want to tear it open like you did.
Well when you know your going to replace it, this is a way faster method then going the other route.
@@drivingthebenz802 what's the other route?
them pins twist out ..just saying use a torx 5 or a awl twist n pull ..next time maybee

can you help me my key wasn't turning 😥
Did you get it working?
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Thank you
Your welcome, glad it helped
Wasted a sh*t ton of money on what should have been a simple ESL fix. Get a ESL from the junkyard. Move your control board over to the new lock. Done.

Absolutely no way I'm going to replace it. Bypass it with an emulator altogether so you never get stranded out again.
That will work too! 👍
When u get a emulator does that have to be programmed as well
Does it have to be programmed?
