This is great! i always forget to set my bit before a project and even after I set the Z it plunges into my piece. for the longest time I thought my machine was cursed and my bit zero was broken until I realized I was missing steps. this will be helpful to prevent you from skipping it your first time. Thanks a million times Carbide!
Oh man, this is just great!! Less time in the garage on my Shapeoko, more time for my wife to yell at me. It’s a sad sad day in the olé Pierce household for sure. 😔
lol
0:37 thank youuu
Finally! You listened to us!
It's so much faster now, I love it.
We agree Josh. Probing and BitSetter Cycles 👍🏻👍🏻
When I am manually jogging my machine around, I used to be able to issue the M03 command to turn on the spindle. This is useful when I am manually edging my x&y stop boards (lower left corner). Now I start the spindle and when I finish jogging in one direction the spindle turns off. This is a huge pain. Is there any way to keep the spindle running until I type M05?
The best plan now is to create a pocket or a single poly line along the desired edge. Then run a standard program to cut your guides.
Installed 635 and it looks like functionality updated without re-setup. Really need to re-setup?
Would it be possible to create the program to have 2 saved z locations to switch between? Such as a permanent z for the bed and a changeable z to set to the top of various stocks.
You can save multiple zero points inside the Quick Actions menu of Carbide Motion.
@@carbide3d does it have multiple Z zeroes? It would be nice to be able to switch from the bed for cutting out objects to a set z to the top to do a carving.
You can only have one ZERO value for each axis at a time. However, you can have multiple saved Offsets (Locations) you can set as the Zero Position.
Every video I frame peek to see if the 80MM spindle and mount is hiding. Didn't see it this time :)
When using the BitZero, and doing the corner routine, it sets x and y inside the loop, and then comes out and touches the top of the BZ. Is that supposed to also set the Z zero? Whenever I rely on that, my Z zero ends up like 1.6 mm above the surface of my material. I have to move the router out of the way, put the BZ on top of the stock, and do the Z zero job by itself. Would be great if it could do all three zeros in one operation.
All three zeros do work in the same operation. Are you using the pin supplied with BitZero?
@@carbide3d Yes. Using the supplied pin, measured on the BitSetter first, and the BitZero is flat to the stock, (with the guide lips overhanging at expected), and ground strap attached to the collet nut. It runs the process inside the hole, exits and measures the top, then moves up to 10, 10, 19. When I use the jog commands to go down, I have to go down 20.6mm to reach the top of the stock. I ran jobs with it set to that zero and it just never touches the stock. The only way I've had luck getting it to work is to manually zero by measuring with the BZ on top of the material.
Update to the newest build of Motion and let us know if the issue persists. Support will be able to assist you.
@@carbide3d I plan to. I have been working with support to address some other issues. Thanks for the great support!
@@carbide3dI have the same exact issue. There are a lot of us that do (there are many youtube videos showing the issue). The workaround that some of us have found (but it doesn't always work) is to do the Z probe separately. Even still, I have to keep a 123 block handy and do a rapid motion to 1 inch above Z and measure... I am also using the pin supplied... I will be upgrading to the latest version and trying it.
How about unthrottling the jog speed or including spindle speed override while running an op or distance to go on the DRO???
Heads up everyone! People are reporting connectivity issues with this new version and have to turn off Bluetooth on their laptop or tablet to fix it.
There were some windows users affected. The beta version available here has fixed the issue for a number of people: carbide3d.com/carbidemotion/beta/
i hate april fools day
This is an actual upgrade. No joke.
@@carbide3d probably should have waited an extra day for this video 😂
@@carbide3d thats good! april 1st is always a tough one for good news. ya never know.
Maybe you can tell me the benefit, but after I zero my Z position and it runs to the bitsetter, it then runs back to the XY zero. Usually I’m ready to start my job after zeroing my Z position. Seems like a waste to have it return to XY after zeroing Z to have to then return to bitsetter. Does that make sense?
I do wish Carbide 3D would offer a milling machine capable of milling steel and titanium.
It can mill titanium?
We have milled both materials. Here’s a recent stainless example: Here’s an example of our Shapeoko 5 Pro cutting some 304: facebook.com/reel/1390214251641531?fs=e&mibextid=YlDasU&fs=e&s=TIeQ9V
@@carbide3d You could beef-up your Nomad 3 so that it can mill steel and titanium in more than as Winston says, “In a pinch.” An example of what the N3 should be comparable to is the Makerdreams Evo-One Pro.
Well I did it and now my cnc won't connect. Yaay
Did you reconfigure your machine? Go through the set-up process again like you did when you first bought it? 🤷♂️
@@PiercesPerfectPieces yes I followed the instructions and it just won't connect. So I found tbe old version and did the set up process and boom it work just fine. So I'll just try again later when I have more patience lol
One weirdo thing that’s popped up is with Windows computers (particularly Dell) turning off the Bluetooth seems to fix the issue.
Dells are noted offenders with driver issues.
What? I just downloaded 622 yesterday haha
Luckily downloads are free.
Xbox controller is super laggy after update.
When jogging, are you pressing the buttons rapidly or holding them down?
Where can I find info on the Xbox controller?
Its like input lag, a second delay before it responds. I’ll reboot everything and try again today.@@carbide3d
one thing I noticed. When you click "stop" to park the machine, I wish it actually came to me to take my tool off and then park it. basically just do a bitsetter but not measure the tool, prompt me to remove the tool and then it parks itself
How is having the machine go through a bit setter cycle every time Z is zero’d faster?
What is gained by making this change?
Over the last few months I’ve been getting more & more proficient at running my 5 pro, I just don’t see the benefits here.
I'm so confused … this all looks like real info. Where's the April Fools' joke?
Real video.
@@carbide3dYes, though as you've already mentioned elsewhere, April 1 just happens to be a terrible day to make real announcements. Anyway, maybe I need to dust off my shapeoko3 and play with these new features.
I still have the Stepoko so 🥱
