I think open combat mission= we didnt have enough time to make full linear missions
I figured the same thing when they announced that there will be these open combat missions and when they described it i was like “soooo either they got lazy or didn’t have enough time to make the missions we want” i still enjoyed the campaign (not as much as MW2 and MW19) i just wish it was longer and had a better pay off like the OG MW3 did (Soaps death felt earned in the og series and after he died you got revenge, in this game neither are true so it doesn’t feel as good) then again if you’re looking for campaigns with better stories,runtime,gameplay,and pay offs just play the OG games and/or their remasters. Maybe one day we can hope COD campaigns will be as good or better than the originals.

@@KevBoy3D covid didnt hit treyarch hard at all like it did with SHGames because they was set to relase that year instead of cold war so Vanguard havingb9 missions is understandable. It depends on how long they are given to work on the game and who's working on it. Infinity Ward worked on the campaign and it took them a year just to make this.

they really dropped the ball on this one - they wrote themselves into a corner - writing him off this early is dumb - what was the point of introducing him in mw2 to write him off in the next game ?
I honestly expected him to die in this game as he did in the original MW3, but the way they killed him off this time is just straight up insulting. No build up, totally random, and no memorable heroism. He just dies from a bullet to the head after fighting the main villain for like five seconds. It's the death of a side character, not an icon like Soap. Pathetic lazy bad writing all round!

Open Combat Missions were clearly were made to save time and money
This was a glorified tax write off.
It couldnt be more obvious that this started out as DLC for MW2.
Open combat missions are an easy cop out of new map development because all those areas will just be reused for WarZone and Zombies. So glad I didn't get this game especially when the campaign is barely 3 hours. Unfortunate. They dropped the ball and just wanted more money.

I’m sorry, but this made Soaps death so much less impactful and meaningless to the story. Bill Murray conveyed so much emotion as Price when Soap died. Soaps last words were to warn Price that Makarov knew Yuri. Even the pistol that Price placed on his chest had so much meaning. MW he slid it to Soap to kill Zakhaev, then Soap gives it back when they rescue him in MW2. The talk Price has with MacMillan; you can tell how heart broken he is. MW 2019 did so much right, and MW2 wasn’t too bad. This game just took a nose dive in my opinion.
I mean it can work shows how quickly people can go but yeah the story was too short didn't show enough emotion towards his death

Well in the classic MW3, Soap slowly died from blood loss, Price thought he had a chance to save him but Soap didn’t make it, so Price was obviously upset that he died there, upset that he wasn’t fast enough to save him.
Reboot Soap instantly died during a very high stakes moment, there’s straight up ZERO time to grieve because they had a goddamn bomb to defuse.
Both deaths are completely different, and it would be insane if Price was screaming and yelling for Soap in this situation.
He died for nothing

They destroyed the campaign. Made it into a DMZ. They can’t leave well enough alone
$70 for:
- A 3 hour campaign with very few set pieces, cobbled together missions with DMZ/Warzone layouts
- A MP map pool consisting exclusively of reused maps and will be filled with micro-transactions and paid premium battle passes
- A half-assed afterthought of a zombies experience which is not what the zombies community wanted
and you all will still buy it. This is the definition of a DLC being released as a "full release, full priced game".
Don't support this crap. They'll just keep doing it until it hurts their bottom line.
Agreed, I’m just hoping the next Black Ops is good since all together Treyarch have four years to make it. Because it seems like the next COD game is going to be MW4, with the new Black Ops coming in 2025.

I miss back when it was a 3 company/year rotation and they had time to make a decent campaign. Ill still play and enjoy this one, but its still a shame what its become
It took me about 4 and a half hours to beat this campaign and thats because I was playing and beat this shit on veteran. Was very surprised that it just "ended right there." I even waited after the whole credits to see if there was something seceret. (There wasn't) I dont know if it was me either, but looking back, it felt SO rushed. Honesty, pretty dissapointed on the length of the campaign.
Well this just confirmed this was a dlc campaign. just played it and it’s way to short definitely seems like it was supposed to be a dlc for mw2 , the campaign is good just why it wasn’t a campaign for another game I wont understand (activision is greedy af). The campaign was not good at all, I don’t play WZ so seeing Alex and graves be brought back was confusing, the weaponshot missions were ass, was way too short and just didn’t feel anything like a campaign

@@bigjoe450if you never see a character die in COD, their most likely not dead to begin with. So they basically continued off that. Alex survived the big blast, but lost his leg.

I would hope that nobody would buy any Call of Duty game just for the campaign. It's always been an extra thing to set the tone for the game. It has never been something that was supposed to be worth $70 on its own. And I mean this even for the best Call of Duty games of all time like black ops II and the original modern warfare trilogy. Those campaigns were not worth $60 on their own. As part of the package, 100% worth it but by themselves. No, not at all.

This was terrible. I cant believe it's only 3 hours long. Basically no stealth, and no major set pieces that are memorable. We should have seen more of Graves, and also... Why was he spoiled on the radio in the 2nd mission? I thought this was a prequel game until they mention later MW2 and I'm like "Oh, I guess he survived then" making the reveal later completely pointless.

Maybe I more of a tactical guy but these missions looks dope af open world concept give the game a realistic feel, you ain’t charging down set ally ways where you can expect bad guys infront of you, you got to make your own plan and use the resources around you to complete the mission how ever you see fit

General Shepherd's death in the original MW2 is one of the best moments of all time in a CoD Campaign and one of the best endings too. In this game he dies in a cutscene. I'm definitely skipping this one. Thank you as always for the video Noah

I hate the open combat mission. At first I thought, okay cool, they’ll do it once and it’ll just be that one mission I don’t care to play. Then they kept happening. This was so dumb.
It’s like they completely forgot what made mw2019 campaign popular. Linear, cinematic, inspired, and reasonably long. One Juggernaut in the entire game. I could accept that. Armored opponents in MW2 were a mistake. Same goes for MW3.
If they (Activision) had just called this “game” a DLC expansion, and at least halved the price, I’m sure the backlash wouldn’t be as harsh. It wouldn’t change the quality of the game, but at least you’re not spending $80 for something that’s barely 1/3 of the originals

Something people gotta remember is the games usually rotate yearly. We got cold war and vanguard before mw2 then a year later mw3 gets released so the developers had to cut corners here and there while making the game so it would get released on time.
Then maybe don't release a game if its an unfinished product but they'll never do that because Activision knows people will still pay for a half cooked product

It wasn’t great - felt very rushed - no big detailed maps, all based in the sea, in the dark, by the sea or by ice/trees - no need to spend time making building models etc… this was 100% rushed out - reused assets from verdansk too…
This game was 100% DLC - I reckon zombies didn’t exist, the multiplayer DLC was going to be the OG mw2 maps remastered and warzone is going to do verdansk remastered. I think this campaign was just slapped together as quickly as possible to call it a full game.

3:22:49 Noah’s Expression and Reaction says it all bro about this campaign. I actually haven’t watched or did a CoD campaign since BO1 and I only watched this one because I saw Lex’s tweet about HOW SERIOUSLY BAD IT IS.
As a writer myself I feel embarrassed.
The pacing was horrible, it was too fast and too many skips and cuts throughout the entire story, the story clearly needed to be longer. It didn’t feel flushed out. And realistically there was barely any gameplay it was just mainly cutscenes and 3 of them didn’t even work properly. Like Noah said you could practically speedrun the campaign if you wanting too. It’s mainly opened world and you can just run to the objective and ignore the npcs.
The MW3 Campaign is an inexcusable example of corporate greed. It's utter bulls***t - Activision should issue an apology for robbing gamers of their $70 who expected a single player story to be as good as or better than the ones before it but instead, played a hashed together, tedious and unoriginal missions that disrespects the franchise and the COD campaigns of the past.

I know sledgehammer worked on it.. but with the planning and everything they had approximately one year.. that is because after Cold War (Treyarch) came sledgehammer with their game, after that came Activision with MWII and now MW III is made by Sledgehammer again.. so that to rotation would be when 2025 arrives with a new CoD it would be BO 2 remastered/reimagined
