This is a fantastic channel, the hair-loss industry is another great example of companies abusing the needs hierarchy where around 98% of the products and services on the market (which is worth roughly 3.4 billion a year) are rubbish. They create a contrived reality through advertising that promises so many sufferers whom of which are in the reactive stage. Especially the young men who are already trying to uphold an image of youth and vitality, when they realise for the first time they are losing a part of their identity they tend to freak out, act impulsively, not doing a lot of research when trying to address the issue and companies prey on that. Assuring that their products work and are safe to use etc etc
Physiological, not psychological. Different things. Just wanted to put that out there. Physiological would be our physical needs, and Psychological, our mental needs. Which really are what the upper tiers are about.
Thanks for pointing that out. For some reason I had it correctly written in my script/notes, but I guess I was having an off day. Anyway, I put out a new vid correcting the mistake. 👍
That's a great question!! Given these are the steps in the process: Problem Recognition or Need Recognition. Information Search. Evaluation of Alternatives. Purchase Decision. Post-Purchase Evaluation. I think that actually Maslow's Hierarchy comes into play at each step, but in different ways. In problem recognition this may be to do with a basic Need like shelter or food. But as we begin evaluating and searching for more information we may start to become more narcissistic, as it were, thinking about how we look to others, our social status etc. Do we want a house with 6 bedrooms, or a studio condo. Do we want prime rib for dinner and then Instagram it, or just a loaf of bread. Make sense?
That is a great question. I would say that anti-aging products fall into the realm of the psychological needs, specifically the Self-Esteem level. It's not about biological or safety, love or belonging. It's also not about the tip of the pyramid -- Self Actualization. Hope that helps! 😀

Hello.. Where would a person seeking anti-ageing products/services fall into Maslow's pyramid?
That is a great question. I would say that anti-aging products fall into the realm of the psychological needs, specifically the Self-Esteem level. It's not about biological or safety, love or belonging. It's also not about the tip of the pyramid -- Self Actualization.
