Thank-you for providing depth to my understanding; the augmented growth needs Maslow added in the '70s. And clearing up a misconception; I always thought of the needs in a pyramid based on a picture in my first year psych text. Now I know that wasn't a part of Maslow's conception
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it’s amazing Maslow’s Hierarchy is still taught as a fixed five stage model. I’m pleased to hear the video was useful. Wishing you well.
Well done! I first learned of Maslow 40 plus years ago in college. This video retaught and expanded on the subject in a very efficient and thorough way. Thank you.
Just discovered this Hierarchy today thanks to my Health and Wellness class in nursing college. It explains my path through life. I have completed all levels except cognitive. This level is tying all the rest into one another. This should be taught in high school. It would help many throughout their journey in life.
While working on my product i couldn't quite put my finger on why it should exist. I had an intuitive feeling for such a model of human needs, glad to have found this, perfectly captures the detail of the human experience 🙏
It was a great experience to hear hierarchy of needs from you. You made a great point at the end by saying that the needs are fluid and organic. Thanks for a great lesson.
Thank you very much. I'm not a student of psychology, but I think in order to have a better life we need to know more about ourselves. You are helping us in this way. 🤗😊🌹
Marvellous! Your videos are short and to the point. It's really so useful that I'm gonna discuss it with my friends. Self-actualisation and self transcendence are the goals to be a gentle man.
Ma'am, can we imagine these needs in a cycle or circular loop? Bottom is fulfilled needs; top ones are most desperate needs to be fulfilled soon; left side going up is getting towards desperate and right downwards getting towards fulfilled needs. And all needs compete from time to time to play their dominant role in the loop.
Better late than never... My thoughts: I was hooked within the first 20 seconds! Your presentation style is captivating - the calm demeanor and clear organization make the information incredibly engaging. This video is valuable not only for the subject matter, but also as a masterclass in presentation itself. Many UA-camrs could learn a lot from your approach. On a personal note, as a student of Tony Robbins who frequently utilizes his framework of the 6 human needs, I was struck by the strong connection to Maslow's hierarchy. It was a fascinating parallel to explore. Thank you for this insightful and well presented video!
Thank you for the clear concise explanation, everything was so easy to take in. you have managed to explain each step in such a clear structured way that it all makes perfect sense !! Your perfect pace of talking makes it easy to follow
The information you provide in this video is really helpful, consice and insightful. Thank you!!!! The 3 forces in psychology were never as clear to me. The pyramid has more meaning now, too, thanks to the details you provided. Thank you.
Great presentation! I needed the refresher! I really enjoyed the point you made about not needing to completely fulfill one need to start building on the next…this is common sense to me, but will be great to bring up if needed in the future🙏
This is timeless and EverGreen Great depth. Please doing the pandemic, having the internet was one hierarchy of needs that I think should be researched into and should be added to the physiological needs of Maslow.
I like this video and the depth of explanation about Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Thank you. As for me, the Maslow's hierarchy of needs is truly helpful as part of self growth. The explanations of the misconception is the best part in this video. It's still being taught at school as the 5 stages pyramid while in actual fact it has developed into 8 stages and shouldn't be seen as a fixed or rigid flow. It's fluid as you said and sadly this is not being corrected in the syllabus. Thank you again.
I am reminded of a study in which patients recovering from surgery were divided on two sides of a hospital, one overseeing a natural environment, and one facing the brick wall of the adjoining building… And those with the view of nature recovered far more quickly with less need for pain medication. this would indicate to me that there are certainly many complex interactions between these needs that are not expressed in the pyramid graphics.
I really liked how you pointed out the misconception. It is true how we keep returning to our needs on the lowest level of the hierarchy. for eg., we could take a meditation retreat to disconnect for a while, but we do come back to our original lives. it's like entirely an individual's choice on how they roll. do you think there should be a time frame to reach these needs?
Thanks alot for this in depth video. Do you belive that someone needs to be felt loved and have fullfilling relationships before they can have esteem and move higher in the triangle?
I don’t believe you need to feel love from an outside person to move on to self esteem. I think self love is enough. This has been the case in my experience. But I know everyone takes their own paths.
What if someone struggles to reach all of the needs, they actually reach the top with extreme emotional struggling and keep slipping down, unable to fulfill the basic needs. How would you describe this person?
Thanks for your question. I explain this at the end of the video. We are all moving up and down the hierarchy, it’s not a linear process. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Teresa.

Thanks for your comment Parima. I think many people never reach the higher order needs so there is no time frame . Wishing you well, Teresa.
You're pretty and well spoken. Well explained.
Thank you so much. Best wishes, Teresa.
Thank you.......................
thank you!
Thanks for expanding on the basic 5 levels. I was just thinking this doesn't necessarily need to be in a pyramid
Thanks for your support. Best wishes, Teresa.
Thanks you!
Ma'am please add text of examples below each need that you are explaining. I'll take its screenshot for reminders later.
If you turn on the subtitles you can then screen shot the image with text. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Teresa.

Thanks alot for this in depth video. Do you belive that someone needs to be felt loved and have fullfilling relationships before they can have esteem and move higher in the triangle?
Thank you Danny. Like Maslow I believe needs only have to be met in part. Best wishes, Teresa.
