I bought a Bento Bags for my husband and I and we both love them! So much space! We both use the top pockets the same way- one for a liquids bag and the other for our tech bags. Easy access.
Been waiting for you to review this one. I bought this back in August of 2022 and love mine! A couple of things I noticed that you don't have, that they used to provide, was that they used to include a tech bag and a 3-1-1 liquids bag, and they also used to have a USB cable built in that you could plug a battery pack into. The bag I bought from them last year had all of that but I'm guessing they decided to get rid of all those features for some reason, so I guess I lucked out when I did. The funny thing is, is that I paid the same price for my bag last year that they're charging now, but they're offering less features.
YES to the little getaway, and hey, go ahead and choose Spirit or Frontier! I am in LOVE with that bag! If I want an option other than my backpack, I am sold on the Nomad Lane bag. Plum all the way!
I'm not a big traveler but would love to be. I did, however, buy the plum Bento bag for a recent trip to Nashville to use along with a carryon and I love it! We flew American and on the flight out it fit great under the seat. On the way back everyone had to check their carry-on (boo!) and the Bento bag did not fit under the seat so it went in the overhead since our carryon had to be checked.
When taking a laptop, I still prefer a backpack that the laptop portion can be unzipped 180 so you don't have to actually take out the laptop. Guess I'm paranoid that someone will grab it or I'll forget it ;) Since red is not an option, I'm on team purple. Thanks for the video, you are going to need a bigger bag room 😁
I want one soooo bad! However, I also wish it could be a backpack. I do not love carrying a super heavy bag around the airport when dealing with connecting flights, delays etc. I know you mentioned a wheel option - can't wait to see that video!

I've been trying to pare down my toiletries but still find the bag I love is hard to fit in my suitcase (a counter bag where everything stands up instead of a giant pit). I have the first version. The zippers are terrible. It definitely looks like they've improved them. It is a well designed and is great for TSA. I have had no problems with it fitting under any seats. I've recently purchased a Calpak Luka for an upcoming trip. It's a totally different design, but I like the exterior water bottle pocket.
I know they have YKK zippers now, not sure if that was the case with the first one or not. You got the Luka duffel? I just got the carry on! I can say that the new Bento Bag version 4 has an outside water bottle holder!
Just an update that I got a notification from Nomad Lane from their website and their Noman Lane UA-cam page that they launched their v4 Bento Bag today. Same price as the v3 bag and some slightly different features. I don't even see the v3 Bento bag anymore on their website but they're still selling it on Amazon. Maybe they can send you one of their new v4 bags and you can compare the two?
Great review. I have been eyeing this bag for a while. I was waiting for the new one to come out in June. Is this the new one ? One of their older bags came with two accessory bags for those two compartments you can access from the top.
So many people overpack this bag my question is can you bend your laptop or your iPad if you have it stuck between two overpacked sections and smoosh the bag together?
I don’t know a lot about it, but after looking at it for 4 seconds, it’s freaking out my packing OCD with those compartments, and potentially losing space for traditional packing, A lot of the spaces are for things that would go in my personal item. I also don’t love bags that come with chargers because I’m very picky about my portable chargers, and airlines make you take them out. But I’d review it and give it a chance if they reached out.

Have you compared the Bento Bag to the Underseat Pro? Wondering which you like better and why? I have my eyes on both bags and having a hard time figuring out what's more important - the wide open space and ease of rolling with the UP or having easy access to my liquids bag with the Bento?
I’m not going to do a comparison video because they aren’t really alike at all. But I’ll break it down for you. Like you said, wheels vs duffel. If you’re using it solo, it can make a huge difference. The underseat pro is also a lot bigger, which means it can pack more, but isn’t allowed as a personal item on every airline
I’ve always been interested in this but hate the price point lol. Can’t wait to hear after you travel with it. Does it not come with the clear bags for those top Pockets ? Felt like pasted versions did.
It doesn’t anymore. Supply chain issues. So it’s less expensive now that they are included. Unfortunately all of my trips coming up don’t allow for a personal item of this size, so I have no idea when I’ll be able to use it for a flight!

Any backpack should be fine, especially if you don’t fill it all the way and it can be squished. I’ve heard that air Canada isn’t strict with personal items, just carry ons… and that people have even used this Nomad Lane bag and have gotten away with it. But I haven’t flown them, so I cannot confirm that myself.
Sadly, I don’t own that one. However, that one doesn’t have anywhere near the organization that the nomad lane does. It’s basically just a pretty duffel bag.

I bought this bag in plum a couple of years ago. I have used it with my carry on to wean myself off checked luggage. I am planning a 3 1/2 week trip to Europe with several trains, unfortunately for that, I think I will have to use my backpack instead of the Bento bag.

We never ended up doing it. It was buying a separate wheeled fold up cart, but I don’t think it will work due to personal item restrictions.

I didn’t end up making the video, I ordered wheels to add to it, but it will make it too large for a personal item.

Fits the same amount of stuff, and around the same size, just different compartments on the Bento, and separates it vs one big opening

It used to, but due to supply chain issues, they had to remove some things and therefore list it at a lower price :)
