Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much and have a nice day and night, happy Halloween.
I worked at a company in Ruskin, FL called KwikKurb. We manufactured curbing extruded to shape recycled rubber from electrical cable. The curb has many uses but primarily traffic control. By mounting a panel with reflective sheet you may channel traffic to the danger spot, in this case a rr crossing. You may drive over the panel (not recommended in civilian autos) so emergency vehicles may breech it. Btw if you look for them you'll see them in Times Square...
Never seen a crossing like that one, but it’s a pretty clever one. CP, BNSF H1, and DPUS, awesome. That H1 scheme has held up over the years imo, thanks JT!
As interesting about how you explained the defect detectors.. loved those double stacked rail cars. Thanks. And boy can Loki jump high. Love your pets❤😅
Good video! The drivers here would find a way around that crossing! A couple of bnsf, and a cn engines, nice. Thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
Someone commented on here that a car figured out a way to get hit by the train a few months ago. LOl. It must be impossible to prevent accidents. Thanks for the Super Thanks! I just got home. I might be going to Marion Ohio next Wednesday for railroad diamond action. Thanks for the gas support. I appreciate your support and thanks for watching my videos!
JT you could tell that the Loram rail grinder had just been through there, not too long ago by the way those rails were singing. I love to hear that after that grinder goes over those rails but anyway another awesome video and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one.
The zoom on the new camera is smooth but it's a bit bright (overexposed). I don't know what camera you're using but these mighy help; Lowering the exposure, using the internal ND filter (if it has one), lowering the ISO, or using a smaller aperture (larger F number). Thanks for another great video JT. You make the best train videos, they're smooth, not shaky, and you show all the freight so obsessive compulsive counters like me can count the wagons (I've got a mind blank and can't think of their name🤦♂️).
Hi Jawtooth, another great video thank you very much Sir 😊 that new camera is very stable but is it over exposing things. The colours look a bit washed out, not a complaint just an observation. Loving your work though - keep the video rolling Son !! Best regards Mike

85 rail cars. a lot of tonnage there! Maximum fun for a railfan fromPembroke Ontario Canada, thank you !!
Thank you for documenting these trains that you saw in Lexington and Burgin, Kentucky on 24 October 2024, Jaw Tooth! Some of those trains with the DPUs were long. Thank you for showing us that derail switch in Burgin, Kentucky. There is a similar crossing to the first one that you were at i Ledington, Kentucky in Thorton, Illinois at the Margaret Street crossing on the CSX/Union Pacific Joint Line. This later crossing is a two-track crossing with similar stanchions on both sides of the tracks to prevent cars from going around the gates. I know that there are additional railroad crossing like this in the Chicago area but right now I cannot think of where else I have seen the stations to prevent cars from running around the gates. (Posted 31 October 2024 at 2146 CDT.)
All gated crossings should have these dividers. And no, I've never seen dividers like this. The rail joint sounds is very soothing I've always liked to hear that. And the diamonds. Great video. Have a nice day
New location & a new type of crossing. That will stop em! Those dividers are needed at Heaton Street Hamilton JT lol. Epic railfanning in Kentucky, great variety of fast trains JT. ❤🥰👍
Hey jaw tooth awesome trains. All crossings should be like the first one. Discouraging runners. I enjoyed the click clack rail joints. Your kids gonna trick or treat tonight? Have a great railroad day.🚂🙋♀️
That's cool. I used to live on Waller Ave next to the crossing. I loved watching the trains go by from my window. I am planning on doing more train videos in Lexington.
Not many crossing like that first one that I know of. I have seen some with a 3" curb, but they don't stop determined drivers of high clearance vehicles from running the gates - these should do it though! The gates at the one crossing are really fast! Almost no time from when bell starts clanging until they're down. Zowie!! You're doing fine (IMO) with the new camera. Don't sweat it, JT. I pray you will always have safe travels, much prosperity, and great health.
"Good grief"😯...that NS train approaching "Museum Drive / Lane" (which is it???) @1:14 is amazing..."put it in the books"!!! >> a classic (not-often-heard-these-days) Norfolk Southern Nathan P3 horn chorus🎼🎶n-o-b-o-d-y else has. Outstanding catch, JT.
That first train - you forgot to say, "What's the hurry?" It was the fastest one of the video! ...My faves are the mixed freights! Nice to see the Steelton rails there - right down the line from me in the burg of Harris!
As usual, Brian, you do an excellent job. The only difference I think I noticed is maybe the sound is richer with your new camera...maybe. What do you think? Otherwise, you camera skills are professional and I cannot get over the way you hold the camera so steady, even while panning and walking with it. The zoom is always good too. The clarity of the photography is excellent and I don't think much different than your other camera. Maybe I am not giving you the feedback you wanted with a new camera, Brian. Love all of your videos. I find them so informational, (love the way you share facts and share what you find interesting) and especially entertaining, relaxing. Thank you. Oh, and thanks for featuring the Canadian Pacific locomotive in your slideshow. The pets are always great to watch. I also loved your farming video, harvesting the soy beans and seeing your land. Thanks, man.
I just went across that Waveland RR crossing an hour ago. They had a lot of problems with folks running around the gate so the bollards were added.. Long range plan is to widen that crossing. The next crossing to the south is Brannon Road. There is a defect system there and a new bridge will replace that crossing next year. Also take a look at the Spurr Road crossing in Northern Fayette County. It a location where double-track goes to single so it's a good place for meets.
We have some rail road crossings like that out here in Oklahoma.( Crossings for Dummies ) This would have been a great location for a speed check, cool siding and another AWESOME video Brian.👍👍
Hey Jawtooth! Thanks for all the great videos. The main street in downtown Rockwood TN has those blockers to keep gate runners safe. I think you went through there a few months ago.
Cool crossing. I bet the runners will still find a way around it. That is a smooth zoom camera. I love a new toy. I like the derail switch idea. TY for the great trains this morning. Live Action Pets are always fun. TY for the stills, video clips, Aw Shucks and music too.
Most of the very first No Horn Zone in SE Wisconsin had the "paddle pops" installed at the crossings to prevent Lane changes. Looking at the aerial view of the city it looks like they lost some Industries or storage are there probably had been a small yard Once Upon a Time. That last train had some strange items. The CP former SOO Line SD60 seem to spend most of their time in Canada so this unit is far from home. The ESTX flat cars are typical of the type used to transport containers of garbage from New York to landfills. The Lineage reefer had the name Stoughton on the door and that is a city in Wisconsin where a high school buddy of mine lives. Then the BNSF DPU is it true veteran in both age and paint and the number 979 is the figure you gave for the town's population. But for me it's the name of the city which is pronounced like my last name but spelled differently. This explains how back in the 1850s when the family was moving Westward and apparently someone took a wrong turn by the Cracker Barrel and wound up in Kentucky instead of Wisconsin. Then the axle on the wagon broke and the mule refused to go any further so Uncle Zeke pointed to the ground and said "We'll build here" A great exploration of new territory
You're amazing Jaw Tooth....! You're everywhere... Great video as usual Brian, "Smoke Em" .....Wonder if you ever did a show from the NYC museum in Elkhart...! The museum sits right on the mains of the (NYC) N&S and just east of the 2nd largest rail yard east of the Mississippi the Robert R. Young NYC yard... Unbelievable amount of action there...! This old Hoghead went there a few years ago and the museum was great and you would love the train action! Greg
This is an idea I always thought of that railroad crossings need to have, although we can't expect everyone to. The median is a much better idea than double gates since the latter could trap cars as the gates go down. But it looks like the median stops short with just enough room for a vehicle to run around the gates.
We have these dividers in my town. They are at no train horn crossings to prevent anyone going around the gates since the trains are passing through quiet zones, and that audible alert is gone.

Just a couple of miles down that line I will be helping build a pedestrian bridge over the tracks in Nicholasville. We started early this year and got pulled off the job because all the overhead utilities has to be moved and permits with the railroad. There's serval trains an hour seems like that runs that line.
That crossing was a bit of overkill. Here In UK they use either double barriers to close both lanes or a single long one straght across. How come a Canadian Pacific loc was being used on that line?
The Wisconsin Southern has a similar derail switch east of where the line crosses BNSF at a diamond near Prairie du Chien, WI. But the derail is a lot further from BNSF trackage than the example you show. Not taking any chances!
Sound of the rail joint is so soothing.
When I listen to my heart with a stethoscope it makes that duhDUH-duhDUH sound.
Thanks for watching my video!
I have never seen a crossing with the dividers like this. These reflectors are much needed.
Thanks for watching my video!
These crossings are the norm in Ohio, where there are many no horn zones, at least in northern Ohio.
We have a local crossing like this. The area is pitch black at night.
@ I have many suggestions if there is a link to contact you.
Thanks JT! That new camera is really clear!
Why does the pic look fuzzy to me. Not clear at all 😢😢😢
@ you might want to try watching on another device. Clear as can be on mine.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much and have a nice day and night, happy Halloween.
In the UK we call those derails catch points, because they catch any runaways before they get to a main line. Thanks for the film!
Awesome, thanks for the info! I didn't know that
