I have watched other hoard clearings but Alex is the absolute best. So often it's frustrating because the other channels mostly just toss almost everything out, no discernment. Alex is my favorite because he actually goes through the boxes and shows us so much of it. So interesting and satisying. :) I love this series so far.
My sister had one of those. It talked with a pull-string, too. It was such a clever idea, with all of the baby dolls around at the time, to have a grandmother doll.

So when I still lived in Canada, I used to go to auctions a few times a year. It usually happened that a few nice sets of dishes wouldn't sell, and would be headed for the skip if I didn't bring them home. Usually for a dollar for the set. And that's how a profoundly introverted person, who never entertained, had 20 sets of dishes at one point. Mercy!
@@cv7357 Draconian rule? LOL Nonsense. There's a reason why Canada lost a lot fewer people, per capita, than country's who didn't do anything. But hey, good for you for bringing an almighty whine about politics onto the channel SMH.
I'm thinking that the homeowners did a LOT of buying at estate sales, and even though they did their own garage sales, they were buying much faster than they were selling. Given some of the 'optimistic' prices, they may not have sold all that much...
Whenever I watch one of these hoarder videos, I get an incurable urge to clean out my closets and cupboards. I had parents and two brothers who were hoarders, and I don’t want to leave anything that my daughters will have to deal with. I am definitely becoming a minimalist!
My ex-husband and his mother were such hoarders that now that my two sons are having to clear the house out, they are forced to just throw everything away unless I can identify things to save (looking at pictures they text me). They don't live in the same state as their dad and have to take time from their jobs and family responsibilities to clear out the house (and deal with a sick dad, too). I am now scurrying about winnowing my things down so I never have to witness my household being just simply thrown away because it's too much to deal with.
Incredible progress. Still sad to see so much packed away and packed away with such care. Those folks really loved their stuff. It’s heartwarming to see you handle the home’s contents with such dignity and respect. Im sure the folks who saved all this would appreciate your efforts.
This is more frequent than people realize. From what I see and what Alex has said, I think the deceased owners of this home were Yard Salers. Yard Salers spend a great deal of time and money going to yard and estate sales to acquire "treasures" to resell at their own yard sales. Now, these folks did get some good things (unlike many yard salers) but, they just never sold it off.
I just finished cleaning out my mothers 6,000. square foot home. Every closet, each were huge, was filled to the brim. Every cabinet, curios, ect, 2 kitchens, 5 bathrooms was filled to the brim. The office and her master bdrm took over a week [3 people, about 5 hrs a day] as I had to go through every piece of paper and clothing, yes she hid stuff. I would call that the most brutal thing I have ever endured. I feel the pain of anyone having to go through this kind of thing with their parents hoarding/possessions. Keep on trucking Alex. 🙂
I feel you. My aunt was a tiny woman and a professional bookkeeper. When she passed away, we found clothes from high school and paper work going back to the 1960’s. She had even more boxes of paper stored in the attic. We had to purchase a new shredder. It took weeks.
Well you kind of have to because people with old age dementia hide things of value. It's just part of the disorder. I once bought a linen cabinet contents. Tucked in with the towels and sheets was a small jewel case with $12,000. worth of jewelry. I made sure to ask the auctioneer if it included everything in the cabinet? He told me yes it did. I didn't feel bad about it because the family didn't want to waste their time going through the excess. They owned the only new car dealership in the area for more than 50 years. They just wanted the house empty to sell it.
Alex, I love watching your videos. I started watching your them when i was on the verge of a stress related breakdown in 2019 . They helped get me thru a bad time and for that I thank you. I know that the hoarder houses are expensive and so time consuming, but I really LOVE to watch them. If I lived in your neck of the woods instead of Tennessee I'd help you!!
This is why I like the Resale Rabbit’s style. Keep the high-priced items for auction, sell everything else in a garage sale $1 style blowout sale, then scrap all metals (he doesn’t do that much anymore), only then, everything else is donation or trash. The problem is you need the space to do that. The resale rabbit has a sub $1M commercial warehouse space. You could have weekly yard sales but that would require another person hire, and a 1- to 2-day delay taking what’s left to charity. I’m excited to see what this channel looks like in 3-5 years.

When I saw the Ms Beasley doll ,it brought back a kinda sad childhood memory ,one Christmas I told my moma over and over that I wanted Ms Beasley for Christmas, when I was a child they cost app $20 but mom just couldn’t afford that ,when Christmas arrived I was so sad because as a child I didn’t understand about sometimes Santa couldn’t bring you what you asked for ,but I cannot imagine how my mom felt not being able to get that doll ,whenever I see that doll I remember what sacrifices my mother made and I would never want that doll even as a collectible ,but I’m enjoying the videos of the Christmas house 👍❤️

I used my allowance that was given to me to buy Xmas presents for my siblings to buy myself a Mrs. Beasley doll....I totally cheaped out on family gifts ... My confession 😂 56 years later🤣
I had that Mrs. Beasley doll as a kid. I played with her until she fell to pieces. Some collector will buy her I'm sure -- most of the Mrs. Beasley dolls made suffered the same fate as my doll which is why the unused ones are worth so much. BTW, the hand clip thingy you found just before Mrs. B is a favorite background item for photographers and crafters making Instagram reels -- several companies in China make replicas but can't quite match the look of the real vintage clip being used to hold a book open. New ones go from 10-15 US $ plus shipping.
Funny - I thought I noticed you set aside that Neil Young tape, especially because I have that very same Harvest LP album sitting here next to me in the front of my records. I can't really call it a collection because to me it was just the music of my life. I still have the equipment to play tapes and records from those days and have kept all the special memories. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and fun here!
My sister used to have a Buffy doll that had a miniature Mrs. Beasley doll with it. Enjoying the series! Can't wait to see what other treasures Alex finds!!!!
Alex, thank you for this "sorting video" today -- very interesting and such a project to clear out everything! Fyi, the silverplate "little urn" at 12:52 is a cigarette holder.
I'm so impressed with your knowledge of what is sellable/collectible and what isn't. Seems like these people must have gone to auctions as the things came already boxed up. Thanks Alex and Patrick. Fun to watch series!
Definitely keep pile those cute pattern glasses they are hard to find anymore unless it's junk made overseas. I love them they are so cheerful. I was quite surprised to see my Pyrex coffee cups sell for $10 a piece I started collecting them over 20 years ago before they were a popular collectible they last forever as long as you keep them out of the dishwasher (colors fade). I had to smile in thought as you went through the pencil box when I worked for a cat charity we would often get the same kind of things and I caught my volunteers one time ( older married couple) back in a corner testing each ink pen to see it they worked sigh.. like you we were often overwhelmed with donations and had to move quickly.. I was thinking yesterday I never see fishing rods and here ya go that looked like a nice set you found in the bag some of those can be quite collectible men are always looking for those in yard sales. I really enjoyed this video so fun seeing what comes out of the boxes. Look forward to the next one. Anna In Ohio
I just love these whole house projects. And considering some of the other houses you have offloaded, this was still pretty clean and organized in boxes at least! They weren’t dirty people, just lovers of clutter. I feel an urge to clean out some closets though 😂
They were Yard Salers. That's people that go to yard and estate sales to buy things that they think they can resell at their own yard sale. But,it becomes too much for them.
The fringe is based on buckskins worn by mountain men, which is in turn based on native wear. It did help wick water, but also acted as camouflage by breaking up the straight lines of a person. The also supplied a ready supply of buckskin strings as well.
Reading the comments from fellow sufferers makes me feel better about my clean out. Earlier this month, two of my daughters and I flew out west (U.S.) to tackle the clean out of my mother's house. She had become a hoarder, so it has been...interesting - four trips since March. One bright spot in the ordeal was deciding to rent a 2019 Mustang V8 convertible, rather than the economy car we had reserved. The rental agent was obviously "over" her job and didn't give a damn about the consequences so offered us her employee discount on the Mustang. Impulsively, we said "yeah". The discount made it so the cost wasn't a whole lot more than the economy car, and boy was it fun to drive! It's very easy to go way over the speed limit on the highway without realizing it until you look at the speedometer! Yikes, but no speeding tickets! We did have to make a whole lot more trips (about two per day) to the Goodwill than planned, with the top down. Hey, it was necessary! The nice Goodwill people got so they recognized us pretty quickly. It was kind of embarrassing but also funny.
Hi Alex. The small curled horn is for calling hunters, a la Anglais. The Hand clip if it is original could be Victorian, and for holding papers together. These videos are so much fun. So many disparate items. Well done on donating what you can. In Castlemaine, here in Victoria there is an antique place with an entire room devoted to tea cups and saucers. Hopefully, afternoon tea will never go out of fashion.
I really feel for you, Alex. I suspect that while this is a relatively [in fact, very] 'clean' hoarde, it's not going to give you anything like the thrill of a house like The Potter's House, where there were everyday revelations of lovely items, albeit they were buried in or surrounded by far less salubrious items. You're away from your family, and to hardly get any moments of that kind of joy is going to be hard on you. Kudos for plowing through it and giving so much away to charity. I hope you're able to make a profit on doing all of this.
I enjoy these sorting/treasure finding videos very much! I'm rooting for you to at least double your investment. That's a lot of WORK! I'll be watching for the next episode. Hugs to Melissa, with love from BanDana Gramma ♥
Those ceramic Christmas trees are collectible! I have a pink one that used to belong to my mother, I inherited it recently, and I love mine! It has a prominent place on my mantle at Christmas!
Love the vintage tins and I also noticed some old hat boxes, love them. You should put all the littles in boxes and make up little bags of them to sell at action. I know that people love old ephemera too. I really love watching you sort through the stuff.
That jacket is awesome! Fun to see how you sort. Love these holder house videos. Hoping you find silver and gold in the safe!! (Whenever you find and get it open!)
I’ve read that trappers used the tassels to tie up birds and game they shot or trapped. They would cut or break the tassels off their jackets to do that. I’m sure there were many utilitarian uses for fringe. Good video, you’re getting closer to the finish line. ❤
If the charities get overwhelmed, you could always try doing a curb alert on a platform like Craigslist or a local Facebook page. I'm sure there are people in the area who would come take some of the stuff. It would save you a lot of driving time.
Craigslist works well for us in the states for curb alerts. Many times I gather stuff I don't need anymore , put a sign on it Free please take all in box and place it on my curb. I have never had anyone dump the box, they do take it all.
A friend of mine did that while cleaning her mom's house. She took several carloads to charity, and then just got her daughter to make a lovely sign that said, "Free. Please help yourself to what you need," and started putting out the rest of the kitchen stuff, bedding, small furnishings, etc. on the lawn. The house was in a mostly low-income neighbourhood and everything disappeared. Including, eventually, the sign!
I love these episodes. I think a lot of us do but you don't seem as enthusiastic about as in previous episodes. Please don't stop doing them, it's very interesting and educational. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧

Is that what the hands are, page holders? I thought they had something to do with drapery. I forget what Alex said they're for. ☺🎃🌻👻
Great Mrs Beasley find. I always wondered what happened to Mr. Beasley.
Congrats on 500k! Wooo hooo!
That Mrs. Beasley doll was awesome..thats solid money right there. Awesome progress guys!!
Alex, thank you for this "sorting video" today -- very interesting and such a project to clear out everything!
Fyi, the silverplate "little urn" at 12:52 is a cigarette holder.
My Mum used hers for toothpicks.🖤🇨🇦
I'm so impressed with your knowledge of what is sellable/collectible and what isn't. Seems like these people must have gone to auctions as the things came already boxed up. Thanks Alex and Patrick. Fun to watch series!
You and Patrick are doing a fantastic job keep up the great work xx
Wow,it just keeps on coming! Collectibles in boxes with junk. A lot of work for you,Alex. And Patrick is a really good friend.🙏🏻🥰
This house should definitely be called the Christmas house. So much Christmas!
OMG Mrs Beasley! -- That was one of my little sisters favorite dolls -- That brings back memories
I had a Mrs. Beasley doll! The memories that brought back. Lots of interesting things in those boxes. Thanks for sharing with us.
Omg Mrs Beasley 😳😃
You and Patrick are making really good progress!
That was a Midnight Cowboy leather jacket. 😊
You have hit the jackpot with tins and teacups and sausers !!!👍👊👏
That patio snack set. WANT!!!❤️❤️❤️
I had a Mrs. Beasley!!
I almost cried when I saw her.
She was my 2nd favorite
The Swingy doll was my favorite because she danced.
Very cool find! 💖
You could consider donating the wool to a seniors centre if they have one in town
...or daycare centre may be able to use it for art.
@Julie Chave
I think they referred to one that went for charity. They were propably thinking other outlets to stuff if charitys get full 🙂
Yarn is getting very pricey, one skein runs 5 and up so that box has value!
he addressed this in a prior episode.
Mrs Beasley!!! Hands down my favorite doll as a little girl..
This is so interesting! Love the various treasures being unearthed.
Mrs. Beasley!!! Wow!!! 🥰🥰🥰 I used to watch Family Affair. 😁❤️🇨🇦
I just love these whole house projects. And considering some of the other houses you have offloaded, this was still pretty clean and organized in boxes at least! They weren’t dirty people, just lovers of clutter. I feel an urge to clean out some closets though 😂
You and me both 🤣
They were Yard Salers. That's people that go to yard and estate sales to buy things that they think they can resell at their own yard sale. But,it becomes too much for them.
Goodness, no one can say that you don't work hard Alex! WOW!
Bravo to you both.
The fringe is based on buckskins worn by mountain men, which is in turn based on native wear. It did help wick water, but also acted as camouflage by breaking up the straight lines of a person. The also supplied a ready supply of buckskin strings as well.
Mrs Beasley! From a Family affair! Knew it right away. I'm 63 and loved that show.shoe. it made me smile to see it. Thank you.
Oh to be in the surrounding towns and hit the thrift stores what a dream come true for some lucky shoppers and right B4 christmas too!
I still have my Ms Beasley doll... she is 50 years old like me and well loved so while not in great condition she is priceless to me 💕
Mrs.Beasley. I loved Family Affair.
Lots of people enjoy collecting stuff like this. And hey if they find enjoyment in it there is no problem.
This has been so interesting! Loving it! Can’t wait for more!
You made some good scores in this episode Alex. My sister in law still has her Mrs. Beasley doll.
So happy to see the Mrs. Beasley doll!!! I had one!! She was very well-loved!!!!
OMG Mrs. Beasley!! I had one as a child. I loved her so very much!
At this point I would call this the collector's house.
The truck looks like a great find, especially if you get some rain.
Half a million..!!
Best wishes for the next half
Let it come in half the time!!
Love these videos for sure. See stuff from my childhood that I remember and haven't seen in years. lol Love it. You and Patrick have a wonderful day
Oh! I see you reached $500,000 subscribers!! 🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations!! 🎉🎉🎉
Loving every minute of this series, just fascinating!
That jacket is awesome! Fun to see how you sort. Love these holder house videos. Hoping you find silver and gold in the safe!! (Whenever you find and get it open!)
Waving to Patrick 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻. You are obviously a huge help !
👋
I’ve read that trappers used the tassels to tie up birds and game they shot or trapped. They would cut or break the tassels off their jackets to do that. I’m sure there were many utilitarian uses for fringe. Good video, you’re getting closer to the finish line. ❤
I have a Vintage 1967 Mrs. Beasley Doll that does talk with an Original Apron, Collar, and Glasses but no box!!
I remember my cousin had a Mrs Beasley doll when we were very young.
Alex would you please sing us a song again??? You have an incredible voice!
Hello from Scotland 👋 I love the old Christmas decorations. Love watching your videos you have the best job in the world .
Misses Beasley doll is worth a pretty penny! I had one and I would love another one! lucky you!
