- This video details the best highlights in the northern part of the absolutely gorgeous, Mediterranean island of Sardinia, which is the second biggest island in Italy. I did a one-week roadtrip through this region and went to Isola Tavolara, the Gulf of Orosei, Costa Smeralda, the Maddalena Archipelago, Castelsardo, Alghero and Bosa.

I'm traveling to Sardinia next month. I can't wait
You’re going to have the time of your life!
Great video!!!! Going October 1 and this video is definitely helping my planning! Thank you!
Thanks for watching! You’re going to love it.
Thanks for the GREAT VIDEO! My wife and I are planning a week in Sardinia in May 2025. I am busy reviewing videos, and your is the best that I have found BY FAR! I especially like that you quickly show a map of the area. I had been thinking of spending more time on the western side of the island, but your video (especially the Baunei Coast) has me reconsidering that.
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Yeah the Eastern section of Sardinia was by far my favorite. The Baunei Coast is incomparable and Tavolara was pretty incredible as well.
So great video.
Full watched.
Wish you all the best.1😊
Thank you for watching!
I have been there many times . Video was on point. I would also recommend visiting La Palosa Beach in Stintino and going on a catamaran day trip around Asinara National Park island
Thanks for watching! I actually tried to check out Stintino, but the rain was too heavy. Thanks for the suggestions!
Amazing video and detil presentarion my friend 😇🙏
Beautiful Sardinia 🥰🥰🥰
Clean, calm, awesome ❤️❤️
Greetings from Pacific
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
"Seemed like something I'd find in Arizona!" I haven't' been to the Costa Smeralda but I find that upscale built towns, all have a cookie cutter look that is GENERIC, despite the price tag. I'd rather something that developed over time organically. Many of the beaches you showed are as pretty as the CS area.
Yeah beautiful beaches, but a bit more artificial than what you’re used to in Europe.
I like your no nonsense 20 facts a minute presentation. Actually saying how long one should spend in a place says a lot about the place and helps you plan better.
Thank goodness Sardinia is ignored by the cheap holiday tour operators. It's an absolute gem in the Med. For me it shares the title of best beaches in the Med with Greece. Mainland Italy is not a beach destination except for Puglia.
Thanks for watching!
Loved your video! 😊I’m going to Sardinia in June. Would like to stay 5 days but in one spot as a home base. We will have a car. Can you recommend which city would be best as a central area to visit these beautiful beaches and still have evenings somewhere charming with good restaurants with a little of a happening vibe. Any advice would help! Thanks
I’m super excited for you, you’re going to love it!
So my favorite region I went to in Sardinia was the Northeastern part. In that region you have the Gulf of Orosei or Baunei Coast, which was my favorite experience in Sardinia and maybe even Europe as a whole. You also have the incomparable Isola Tavolara, Costa Smeralda and the Magdalena islands. All of these are some of the most coveted places in Sardinia and Italy as a whole.
If you want to base yourself in one place, the city of Olbia might make the most sense. It’s not a great city, but it has an airport where you’d probably fly into and pick up and drop off your car, lots of accommodations for good prices and things you’d find in a city.
All of the places I mentioned are within an easy hour drive from that city so it’s be super convenient.
Keep in mind that I haven’t been to the Southern part of Sardinia yet, but all of the places most appealing to me were in the north.
You could even do a day trip from Olbia to one of my favorite Italian towns, Castelsardo, which is 1.5 hours one way.
Let me know if this helps or you have any further questions!
Thanks for the awesome video!
Which company did you rent your boat from to tour the Baunei Coast?
We will be coming from Rome - do you recommend the ferry or flying?
Thanks! I believe I rented it here:

I recommend a flight to save you time.
hey, great video! can i ask you about weather? how was it? because we are going 18th september and we are bit worried about that, thanks for your insights :))
Hey! I went in the very last week of September. Out of 7 days, it was rainy 2 of them. Otherwise it was beautiful and the water was great. You guys should be good, although maybe prepare for a little bit of rain.
Thanks for the review man!! Definitely skipping the arizona part ;)
Thanks for watching! I wouldn’t discount Costa Smeralda, in fact some of the most beautiful beaches are there, it’s just a bit more artificial than what you’d expect from Europe and bills itself as a fancy place. I def recommend at least spending a day there for sure!
Hey! I'm planning to spend 6 days in Sardinia this summer 🤩 I want to book just one Airbnb to keep it simple and explore some of the places mentioned in the video by car. What city do you recommend for a more strategic stay? I want to be close to beautiful beaches by car and maximize my sightseeing in 6 days (I know it's short, but I want to cover the highlights). Any suggestions?
Hey! If you stay in Olbia (a city with an airport), you can make easy day trips to Costa Smeralda, Tavolara, the Baunei Coast and MAYBE Isla Madalena. It’s not a cute, charming little town, but it’s practical.
Thank you !!😊@@gogibgo6148
Are the beaches here fully sandy? They seem not to compared to Sicilian beaches for example. Thank for all the info!
The beaches on the Baunei coast were stone, but I think in Costa Smeralda and in the Santino areas they were sand.
