@@pressingon3728 The 426 Hemi was introduced to the racing circuit in 1964, it got banned by NASCAR in 1965 specifically because it wasn't stock. So to get it back for '66 they sold the crap out of them in 1965. They were available in the 65s but 66 was the first year that it was available the entire year model, ie late 65- late 66
Man would an incredible car, how I wish I was alive during the 1950s and 1960s and to witness all the cars of that era just everywhere. Thank you for sharing this incredible car
Cool video, Barry 👍. Very interesting little history 👍😃. Thanks for showing 👍🎅Merry Christmas to you and your family with best wishes from jolly old England👍🎅 Pete 🎅
To my understanding it came out as a race engine in 1964 and got banned in 1965 by NASCAR because it technically wasn't "stock" as in offered to the public. So it became an engine they pushed in 1965 to get the sales goal to qualify as a "stock" engine. The next year Ford got their Cammer engine banned because it was an overhead cam configuration but the truth is Chevy couldn't compete with Mopar and Ford's hemi advancements. I'm a MOPAR guy and I'm drooling over that gorgeous car. So jealous!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! I always thought the first 426 hemi was 1966
