I'm writing this comment on that machine right now and, while it has some battle scars, it still runs very smooth even though it's been used for hours every day and has traveled across the world with me. This Matebook might be a good replacement for it though.
Thank you for the comment and support. Those old Notebook Pro from Xiaomi where great back in the day. This Huawei is really impressive and would be a huge step up for you.
I currently have huawei mate book 16, and it's amazing! Way way better than anything i had before! But i agree, idk why everything is so hard to get nowadays. The government in my country recently made everyone pay up to 20% of the initial price to just import ANYTHING more expensive than 200€... Now, as you can guess everything is more expensive that ever before

I love the display size 3:2, but I hate the glare screen: finally Huawei manage this problem wtih anti-glare film, also on Oled screen...amazing! It's only a pity for the lack of HDMI and audio jack. This device it's a Macbook replace, but better
Audio jack was a surprise I think they should have left that in. I guess in their quest for weight reduction they made that call. One type a usb and 3.5mm wouid have been perfect.
I'm a little worried with the matebook series. I have the previous version and got the black screen of death after 3 years of use. If I'm spending this amount of money, I atleast expect longevity.
Such a high quality product but I feel they focused to much on making it lighter. They could have kept it at 1.2 kilo and maybe put 2 thunderbolt on right side, put micro sd card reader, put audio jack and even made the battery 90wh instead of 70 so that it didn't lack in battery power. Im considering the matebook 14 at almost 50% the price, or perhaps getting a 2022/23 model for about the same price. Still thinking it over but I know i don't really care the weight difference of 1.2 kilo vs 980 grams.
I’ve got the Matebook X Pro 2024 model and it’s great it also has touch but other Zenbook S16 models do get touch and pen support. Overall it’s a great laptop I really like it very nice build and finish. Keyboard, touchpad combo are good. Yes a larger battery and another type C would have been great but so many more ports than my Matebook with only 3 type c ports.
@TechTablets (timeframe 00:19:12-00:19:20) : Chris, as this laptop's product line name suggests, you mention that the Huawei Matebook X Pro isn't really for gaming but for productivity or "business" as you call it (which inherently indicates a lot more static content being shown on the screen), however this laptop is equipped with an OLED screen which is a lot more sensitive to burn-in issues compared to TN, VA or IPS panels. Compared to other panel technologies OLED seems to be the worst choice for productivity purposes at this point in time : look at today's video from Monitors Unboxed for more evidence (3 month usage review). One could argue that Huawei made the wrong decision here by opting for an OLED for a business laptop. I wonder how this screen would like like after 6 months of productivity use...

Tandem OLED was out on Honor smartphones first. The dual OLED tech allows for less power consumption at higher brightness. So, it's unfortunate that Huawei didn't follow Honor's lead as Apple did.
when it first came out it was very impressive in build and performance. It hasn't change much, and doesn't need to, but competition has caught up. For the price alone it can't compete like it use to, especially with the negatives you've outlined.
@@Techtablets Ohh yeah totally forgot about the bans. What about Honor? Aren't they using SD processors in their phones? They might be able to make a SD laptop as well.
DOA. X Elite performance is real. There's nothing in any Intel based chip that is better as per recent test by a non Qualcomm group confirms X Elite beats any Intel chip in CPU performance and performs equally in emulation. All that with 10-58% more battery run times.
Another perfect work from huawei company when it comes to innovation huawei is the one who are progress when it comes to over all performance in technology even they are restricted in other aspects.they also raising the competition among the other brands like samsung and apple. Look what apple pad 2024 they adapt the light weight that huawei first did but still its not bezelles.huawei also is the go when it comes to premium gadgets but will not compromise its quality and your budget. look at there phone tablet laptap and watches they give it innovative upgrade not like other brand that it took so slow for them to innovate (hi,apple) 😂theyr just making out of money from simple upgrade thats not worth it.and it cost much.again congrats huawei,by the way im still happy using the huawei matepad 13.2 its 4months already but its make me like it more and more😘😘😘🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Haha of course they did, and fun fact I had a M1 Pro MBP 16" and it was great but I think this is better and now how it handles video editing I don't miss my MBP.
@@Techtablets I prefer the MB Pro 14 (M3Pro), costing a similar amount as it has far better battery life, as good a display, similar keyboard, trackpad and speakers, but the Mac runs mostly cold and silent. Also the Mac has far better IO. But as far as Windows laptops go, this resembles what Apple would make if doing Windows, and my first choice, though I am still unsold by this year's Intel and AMD chips. Thankfully, Huawei have recognised this and given a nice new design with added features.
Can a reluctant Apple user speak up? Im mostly stuck in the Apple ecosystem because of my kids. No iPhone would mean no FaceTime with them, no parental controls over them, no easy sending of full quality vids with them, no AirDrop with them, etc. if it weren’t for them, I’d have a NothingPhone at the moment. iPhone is pretty mediocre, really. … that said, the Mac laptops are Apples best product. I had a M1 pro MacBook Pro, was flawless. Upgraded to a M3 pro MacBook Pro, also flawless. Having a laptop with instant on/off, and almost no battery drain when closed, is really useful for business. And performance is great (I also have a top tier windows gaming laptop, and for daily usage outside of games, the MacBook Pro is snappier). Windows or MacOS is six of one, half dozen of another. Basically equivalent for normal folk. This Huawei definitely looks nice though. Cannot deny that. Once the new intel low power chips are in everything, and once MS fixes the sleep implementation in Windows, Apple loses its real advantage. Also cannot deny that.
While this hardware looks seriously impressive and lightweight and the OLED is a nice inclusion, that battery performance is kind of appalling. An m3 macbook of a similar price and performance has literally almost three times the battery life in real world tests.
Every time they release a new one, I hope they stop using Intel. I kinda value battery life in portable devices, which Intel doesn't deliver.

how is the standby drain compared to a macbook? the main reason I swiched to macbook air was that I can put it down for a week and the battery lost like 2 percent.
@@Techtablets that's why I'm asking about battery drain, it will be either the matebook x pro or macbook pro. The thing I hate about macbooks is the fact that they make the next Iteration worse if they realize the current product is to good for the price
I've tried huawei keyboard in matebook 14 ~2020 and since then I want a huawei laptop (i'm a software engineer). This one might be a bit expensive, but they have that kind of keyboard in the cheaper ones. I disagree on headphones jack and other ports. If you pay that much, you have wireless headphones and USB-C is the future. HDMI dongle you can get if you really need it.
Yes and speaking of the Gram, i'm working on my review of it. Also an impressively think and light laptop but at 16-inches. It's very good but the thermals and throttling aren't good with the LG.
@@Techtablets Great. While here in Switzerland LG has an awful distribution (and US keyboard layouts are hard to get), it'll be great to have a direct comparison. Nice work
I've got an OLED it's a LG CX 42" years old now and It's on at least 7 hours a day maybe more and no burn. The trick is to use screen saver of blank set to 1 minute. Auto hide taskbar, don't run 100% brightness nonstop and you should be fine. The last time I saw burn in AMOLED/OLED was my Galaxy S6.
Nice laptop, but no chance this is the best Windows business laptop with Snapdragon X laptops inbound (providing they get close to claimed performance and efficiency).
Hmm yes but it's not out yet and ARM so still not everything runs well if X86. There are still some issues and when emulating it will not be as good as native. But hopefully the new X laptops I'll see in Taipei at Computex really looking forward to seeing if they live up to the hype.
For business use-case shouldn't be many problems, all Microsoft software will be fine. For cases where specific software is called for then perhaps non-native programs become a stumbling block. ASUS set to unveil their first one about 7 and half hours from now, and likely quite a few more in coming week or so with all the leaks flying around.
Well I found most X86 programs ran but performance wasn't there with some. Hopefully I'll get some hands-on time with it with ASUS once i'm there. The ARM powered Robo & Kama really impressed me so that X should be something.
I might be wrong but I would really wait and see with the Snapdragon X.....their last one wasn't great. And the OS is Microsoft not Apple. Apple have switched CPU's 3 times - successfully. Microsoft aren't even switching, only adding support....
honor magicbook art - is the best. 14.6, 1kg and has HDMI and type-A slots and still cheaper. This huawei gonna be useless if you always need to carry hubs with it
Super sexy hardware, but battery life and heat are dealbreakers considering that this is meant to be an ultra mobile laptop. The Macbook Air is still the king of mobile productivity.
I was in the same boat but now with this and how it edits 4k video I'm no sad I sold my MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro. And then this build, screen and the weight is much better my MB was just same heavy...
@@Techtablets I see... my only problem with these windows laptops until the new Snadpragon X Elite laptops come up, is that battery and noise levels are not comparable with macbooks...
Only if Macbooks could actually be of any use to professionals outside of the video/illustration/spreadsheet/music needs. Try being a CAD engineer or an architect with a macbook, or a CGI artisti (like myself). No support for anything, nobody uses them because they are beyond useless with negligible software support. Would love to take that hardware for a spin, but from my perspective they are almost these exotic niche products of no real value. I guess my point is the only way an apple laptop may be the "go to" product in this field is if you're someone whose software needs align with that of a youtube creator in general. For spreadsheet/office use nobody really needs an m2 or m4 tbh.
@@aljosacebokli well that can be for your 'sector'. I've worked in several IT / dev companies and I can tell you that macbooks are the de facto standard since years... and for people 'just' using it for spreadsheet / office, having a completely silent laptop that last even days without charging it it can be a huge difference too
@@ssssssalva I very much doubt that apple machines are the industry standard in the it/programming fields as most of these professionals will support Windows infrastructure or write software for Windows, which has over 70% market share globally. Mac OS has like a 15% market share total, unlikely to make it the prevalent standard in any field. I've worked through small studios to big companies to international corps in London and the only time I've seen a Mac is when I freelanced for a branding agency. My gf is an EA for finance and accounting firms and she has never been issued anything but a windows laptop by her employers. I guess my point is that the "oh but there's Mac why buy XY" really doesn't hold much water outside of the UA-cam creator community. Again, I think the hardware is really good and I'm also waiting to see what Qualcomm shows us this year for Windows.
the intel spec Tjmax is 110C most ultrabook laptops hit that under load and than start throttle down you can always change the fan curve to have better temps with more noise, most customers want silent
not huawei, its intel's issue, if this were built with an ARM processor, this will actually be a perfect laptop, i guess huawei wont be able to use qualcom elite's chips
Beautiful laptop as every year's model. However for the price it is still better to get a macbook. I'm a windows user myself and two of my coworkers have a few previous year's model of this laptop and the battery is almost dead, with 1~2 hours of autonomy. As a windows user it is difficult for me to completely migrate to macos but it is a shame that Windows laptops equally or even higher priced do not offer the same quality of the hardware in macbook laptops.
The Ryzen 9 8845HS I've tested also does the same. They all hit those high temps briefly unfortunately it's not just one brand. But AMD still has the lead with gaming iGPU performance.
Anti-reflective film is really important to have on glossy screen laptops and we don't see it enough. It's good to see that Huawei didn't miss out on this.

I’m testing the new X Elite it’s very good but the Adreno graphics is very weak! And I don’t Huawei can work with Qualcomm.
@@Techtablets Ohh yeah totally forgot about the bans. What about Honor? Aren't they using SD processors in their phones? They might be able to make a SD laptop as well.
Thank u for showing Linux , love it!
My pleasure!
-Stick snapdragon x elite in it and Huawei can have my money.
-I need those USB-C earphones.
It would be also perfect then with that chipset and 3.5mm hpj.
Is there a review in work for asus zenbook duo 14 2024?
Yea I did that months ago here: ua-cam.com/video/pBQ-RwXhJwc/v-deo.html
@@Techtablets thank you so much!
DOA. X Elite performance is real. There's nothing in any Intel based chip that is better as per recent test by a non Qualcomm group confirms X Elite beats any Intel chip in CPU performance and performs equally in emulation. All that with 10-58% more battery run times.
And how is the graphics? And what worries me is x86 support still up and down with emulation.
I'm sure keen to test X Elite and hopefully will next week at Computex.
Can't wait for the Snapdragon Versions 😅. Unless Intel makes a come back later this year.
Nice, but that is a garbage webcam. That is a super important feature for a business laptop.
Garbage no but not amazing. It was a bit choppy with the Ai virtual backgrounds.
Why choosing this to MacBook air ??? Or tò MacBook pro since cost Is pretty close....
Depends if you prefer Windows or MacOS.
@@Techtablets ok but technically speaking why choosing this Matebook????
Another perfect work from huawei company when it comes to innovation huawei is the one who are progress when it comes to over all performance in technology even they are restricted in other aspects.they also raising the competition among the other brands like samsung and apple. Look what apple pad 2024 they adapt the light weight that huawei first did but still its not bezelles.huawei also is the go when it comes to premium gadgets but will not compromise its quality and your budget. look at there phone tablet laptap and watches they give it innovative upgrade not like other brand that it took so slow for them to innovate (hi,apple) 😂theyr just making out of money from simple upgrade thats not worth it.and it cost much.again congrats huawei,by the way im still happy using the huawei matepad 13.2 its 4months already but its make me like it more and more😘😘😘🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Bitter ka lang kuya kasi wala kang pera pang apple products
Price?
The screen edge is curved like phone or tablet. I'm not sure if laptop users like it or not.
It's fine not large enough to be an issue and it gives it a modern look.
@@Techtabletsmore like a macbook look lol
Apple fanboys coming soon...oh wait they already did.
Haha of course they did, and fun fact I had a M1 Pro MBP 16" and it was great but I think this is better and now how it handles video editing I don't miss my MBP.
@@Techtablets Thank you for your honest reviews as always, sir. Keep up the good work 🤍
Thank you.
Thanks for the Linux test
Is the battery life the same as macbook air?
As I am watching, the laptop is in my shopping cart. I am sold. Huawei is giving lots of freebies for pre-order. Thanks for such a detail review.
Please review vivo x100s
I have the X100 Ultra coming
@@Techtablets 🙏 thanks, looking forward to it
Is it a fan less laptop?
Now it has two fans inside
This computer is almost perfect, hope to see Huawei’s own PC chips soon, which bring longer battery life to users
They will have to have their own chips at this rate with the new sanctions.
Huawei is the best brand in the world. There's no question about it. I wish EU would ban the american junk and let us have propper tech.
First real comment
Thank you. Yes so many stupid spam bots and UA-cam does nothing about it!
I am a student should i buy it
Why is the screen called "flexible"?!
3.1 k?
Where's the HD port?!
Type c to hdmi adapter or with a dongle.
Such a shame I didn’t come with the AMD 😢
Every time they release a new one, I hope they stop using Intel. I kinda value battery life in portable devices, which Intel doesn't deliver.
how is the standby drain compared to a macbook? the main reason I swiched to macbook air was that I can put it down for a week and the battery lost like 2 percent.
2 percent in a week, that's definatley not true, my mac book pro with m3 pro loses around 20% in a day on stadby, a day being full 24 hours.
2 percent? That's crazy good.
There is now the MagicBook ART 14 which has the keyboard Meteorlake and the ports.
The LG Gram that LG should have released.
Nice work
If there’s a laptop that screams for a Snapdragon X elite chip it’s this one.
I agree!
it need to improve attery life and add sim card for internet
Uggggh why oled. For programmers purposes it will burn in a year. Also it really needs airjet cooling for that price and design
Done buy this laptop. I have matebook pro and it’s not at all worth the money.
@@catman99Well we're all waiting to see, not long now.
honor magicbook art - is the best. 14.6, 1kg and has HDMI and type-A slots and still cheaper. This huawei gonna be useless if you always need to carry hubs with it
This is a price with dedicated graphic card but a bit better than integrated graphic..... Skip.
Super sexy hardware, but battery life and heat are dealbreakers considering that this is meant to be an ultra mobile laptop. The Macbook Air is still the king of mobile productivity.
6 hours just doing some spreadsheets is painful. Hard pass from me.
Dell or hp
6hours of light use @30% brightness is BAD
The screen res takes its toll. If you watch only video then it's about double but browsing with WiFi.
HUAWEI Matebook can't upgrade ram if you want the best Asus Zenbook
The only problem with this laptop is that it is so expensive
Only if macbooks M1/M2/M3 didn't exist...
106 degrees? Even for some seconds... nope
LG Fram was even worse with the lower spec 7 155H chip it hit 108 degrees. All the new chips do this ☠️
@@Techtablets Wonder if this short peak damages the chip over time
the intel spec Tjmax is 110C
most ultrabook laptops hit that under load and than start throttle down
you can always change the fan curve to have better temps with more noise, most customers want silent
No ports, no buy. Skip
too bad it only has Intel processors, which I boycott
Huawei can't do good battery on laptops.
not huawei, its intel's issue, if this were built with an ARM processor, this will actually be a perfect laptop, i guess huawei wont be able to use qualcom elite's chips

Beautiful laptop as every year's model. However for the price it is still better to get a macbook. I'm a windows user myself and two of my coworkers have a few previous year's model of this laptop and the battery is almost dead, with 1~2 hours of autonomy. As a windows user it is difficult for me to completely migrate to macos but it is a shame that Windows laptops equally or even higher priced do not offer the same quality of the hardware in macbook laptops.
intel=overheating
The Ryzen 9 8845HS I've tested also does the same. They all hit those high temps briefly unfortunately it's not just one brand. But AMD still has the lead with gaming iGPU performance.
