"every game" makes it sound much more common than it is. Due to the teams traveling there's only around 5 or 6 home games a year for a college team. Which is to say that "every game" is a big event because there are so few of them. Half the games the home team will be gone, and it's not like most people are making the trek or tailgating at an empty parking lot while their team is several states away.
Unfortunately, this is over now, with NIL, Portal Transfer and Conference Re-alignment. Just watch any game, the amount of transfers and how much top players are getting paid millions in NIL. The innocent is over, it is minor leagues of NFL now.
You only get six or seven home games each season. You have to make each game a great time. That’s a part of why there is so much going on each game and it’s such a party avenue. It’s a sad time when the season ends and you have to wait eight months for the next one to start.
American football started with colleges in the 1870's and quickly became huge. College football was the #2 sport behind baseball by the time professional football started in the 1920's and it took about 40 years for the NFL to catchup.
I graduated from The University of Texas in '70, they play Ohio State tomorrow evening at the Dallas Cowboys Arlington Stadium (6:30 CST) ...22 hours away, #3 Texas vs. #6 Ohio State (winner advances to the next round).
Yes it’s university students but when you realize the NFL,NBA, etc draft players from college and look at it more of an amateur league or farm league it makes a bit more sense but of course it’s America so still over the top none the less
At 15:10, they're just coming out for warmups, that's not the game entrance. I'd love to go to a big time game with ya, that would be a hoot man, lol. I hope you get to come over here and do that.
Short season, every game matters. More College teams competing for fewer playoff spots. Of 130+ D1-FBS teams only 12 make the playoffs. That's this year's expansion, before that it was only 4. By comparison the NFL has 32 teams and 14 make the playoffs 7 from each conference.
Everyone knows that the United States knows how to Entertain! Hollywood with Movies, and TV Shows, the vast playground that is Las Vegas, Broadway, Sporting Events, Holidays, etc... We Love to be Entertained therefor we know how to Entertain.
@@PatrolNation Jam jelly and preserves are all different things in the US. Short explanation is Jelly: made from fruit juice, no solids Jam: contains small fruit solids and seeds Preserves: contains larger pieces of fruit.
The roots of college football go back to the late 1860s - it didn’t become a professional game until the 1920s - so a lot of what you’re seeing is rooted in traditions that span generations. In fact eight of the ten largest stadiums (by capacity) *in the world* are home to American college football teams.
I realize you're still really far from London, but it's closer than coming here to the US. I hope you get to see one here one day. It's great to be in the stadium!
This is the "crown jewel" of American college football games? I think the folks At Ohio State and the University Of Michigan would strongly disagree. Not to mention that Michigan's stadium is the third largest in the world.
As a Longhorn fan, I'd have to agree. Too many "crown jewel" games. The rivalry between Texas and Georgia has just started. Even Texas vs Oklahoma doesn't match the sheer hatred between Michigan and Ohio State. Especially since Michigan has won for 4 years in a row.
Texas is playing Ohio State tonight. Whoever wins, plays for the National Championship against my team, Notre Dame, who beat Penn State last night to advance. Great reaction !
@@anthonyorsini makes sense, but I thought the exceptional cows can also have the longer horns. I live here in Fort Worth and have seen both bulls and cows with exceptionally long horns. One of the properties 1/2 mile from my house leases out their pastures to longhorn cattle ranchers. It never gets old seeing them.
@ Awesome I didn't know that! I'm from Austin and Bevo is about the only actual Longhorn you see 😂 But I think he's always a steer mainly because they're less aggressive (they definitely aren't letting a bull run around the field full of people).
@ I personally am a Missouri Tiger fan (born and raised in Missouri), but my son was born here in Fort Worth and is a Longhorn fan (even though TCU is nine miles from my house). It was fun when he and I went to the Texas Bowl together when Missouri played Texas several years ago. Sadly (for me) Texas won 38-10 all while my son was rooting them on and I was surrounded by Longhorn fans. Good times. 😎
You think this is big well guess what This same Texas team is facing the Ohio State team tonight for the Cotton Bowl This will be a huge game both teams are good
Stop thinking of it as "just university". It's big business with huge fanbases. These are sports franchises with universities attached to them. Before it was legal to pay students, the big programs and their coaches made many millions every year. Now the students are making money. I live in Ohio and I'm an Ohio State fan. We spent $21 million on the players this year. It. Is. Crazy. Plenty of people cheering for Texas and wearing their merch, never went to school there or didn't graduate from there. Just think of it as minor-league, but still professional, football.
Yes, this happens at every game. One of the reasons why college football is incredible.
Ehhhh, not the flyovers. Those don’t happen at every game
But everything else does, for the most part!

Its not just the home games, large bands of fans travel to the away games too.

We are abit over the top . Go Buckeyes
Tailgate party would be for every home game.
Hey ! You Need to come to the US for a game You’ll really enjoy it ! Yes The crowds ARE that BIg !!
We are working on it 😊
IM SO HAPPY YOU FOUND THIS BOSS! WELCOME TO THE WAY WE DO THANGS IN TEXAS! WE DONT DO ANYTHING "HALF ASS"!

Pretty sure the game is at the cotton bowl
Heartbreaking game for the Horns but you can tell it didn't matter as far as the experience went. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

They really seemed to enjoy their first University game !! 🏈😃
Probably a jello shot. Remember your jelly and our jelly are two different things lol
Your jello is our jelly. Your jelly is our jam.
@PatrolNation yup. I'm glad you remembered lol. So they were doing jello shots I assume
@@PatrolNation Lol well to be fair we have jam and jelly here, jelly has no seeds in it.

"Hey" from the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
Enjoy watching ya reaction videos. Keep doing them.
Have fun and be safe. :)
That game is definitely NOT the crown jewel of all American college football games, not even close! It's just a regular UT game.
Jello Shots
If you make it to Oregon I’ll take you to a game.
@seanm3684 Same, in Indiana 🏈

I know that Pro football comes to London every year. You should try to catch a game next season!
San fran on the Colorado. Used to be a blast to visit.
Great, now i miss college football

That's a Bull not a cow lol, a texas longhorn Steer
How could you see underneath it clearly enough to know if it was a bull? Not every longhorn is male.
You can tell by the length of the horns. Steers have significantly bigger horns.

Collegiate Sports existed before most professional sports (except baseball).
Send out a post with your post info and I can get you some SEC college football Merch.

College football is far superior to professional.
Capitalism at its finest. Sporting events bring in big bucks for the schools. Advertising from televised games and merchandise.
The top SEC teams got smashed by 2nd tier BIG 10 teams this year. The conference is overrated.
