Thank you for yet another interesting video, Paul. Going by what I see in the pictures of the Fonoteek, that I saw in your video, the machine appears to have refrigerating unit in its base. This would make sense, give the Fonoteek now has on-board cooling of the washing medium.
Glad you mentioned the Knosti Disco Antistatic cleaner again. I have incorporated two of these into my cleaning regime.
First, the record to be cleaned is treated by a Knosti Disco which contains Art du Son mixture. Next, the record is rinsed in a second-hand Knosti I purchased for just this process. Then the disc is transferred to an RCM and is cleaned with an alcohol based medium. When finished, the record is rinsed again, before being put in an ultrasonic cleaner, which contains distilled water and a surfactant. Then its given a final rinse before being vacuum-dried by the RCM. I have a couple of RCM arms, so that one is used for removing cleaning mixture and the other for drying use only. This is my current method and one that may change. For now, it works well.

Hi Paul. In the realms of hi end audio this will be a welcomed addition , as the partnering equipment will be able to take advantage of such advanced technology . But it was reassuring that you still had a place reserved for the humble manual disc cleaner , which is often the starting point and in many cases the end point of many record enthusiast . I just keep hoping that one day at least new records will be properly cleaned before being sold , but I suppose I have always expected to much , 😊

UPDATE: Don't have an official price as yet but figures of just under £6,000 are thought to be in the ballpark.

I feel we have got to a point now where pricing of products is crazy.. The wealthy of course have the choice to waste their money however they wish whereas mere mortals have to consider any new purchases very carefully. Hifi and record collecting used to be great fun back in the 70's and 80's but today it's no wonder people have either switched off or just laugh at the gullabilty of some. It's like watches, you can spend a million pounds on a Patek Phillipe to show off but it won't tell the time as accurately as a cheap watch. Subjects like this just lead people down rabbit holes never to surface again. Value for money is what matters not extortion.

Hmmm, I wonder if petrolheads out there - as one wild example - would react in the same way when faced with a new Ferrari or Lamborghini or some other expensive technological, car-based entity? Or would they just celebrate innovation and creativity and be wowed by the possibilities of technology? Then talk of aspirations. Before turning to their new VW, Ford or Honda? On that subject, I heartily recommend the Knosti Antistat, a brilliant manual cleaner for not a lot of money and one reviewed on this very channel. That performs even better via my own Vinyl Guide (link on application).

@@TheAudiophileMan I totally agree with you Paul on the Knosti as an addition to my Degritter MKII. I know with my secondhand purchases of LPs, I will not drop below VG+, so they are never truly filthy. I would also say that @ianringstead2420 is correct on the watch front, up to a point. I have an expensive Omega, that I saved for. I am not one of those wealthy people & I know I could buy a watch from Argos for £9.99 that would be 100% accurate & not require servicing, but I chose my Omega, as I prefer it over a simple basic watch. As someone who started buying LPs in the 80's, I still find collecting thrilling & fun, especially discovering an LP from an artist I had never hear before. You're so true on the car analogy comment. I feel if I had the money & a really large LP collection, I think this would be a great buy, but I am not in any way disappointed with my Degritter MKII, as it has brought me even more please to listed to my LPs.
On another note, I have the latest software on my MKII & the interface has changed in ways, but there is no option of going for "true custom" settings.
Thanks as always for taking the time to do theses videos & I will wait to see if you get one to review, hopefully.

Ahh, thanks for the custom settings update. Good to know. And yes, very happy with my Mk.II as well. But I equally value my cheap and cheerful Disco Antistat :) I hope to *finally* review the Mk.II soon. That should fun.

Well since the Mark II is $3,280 here in the U.S. I would assume that contraption is around $10,000. You can buy a lot of vinyl for that amount of money and clean it by hand.

Presumably the Degritter Mk II will remain available?

  • @andyfletcher3375

Hello Paul now owned the MkII since March this year but also watching many times over and over your videos on the cleaning regime along with all the paraffinaile required if you don't mind me calling it that, plus disco antistat,
It works, yes i went as far as getting the surfactant from the US,again with patience it works, the stand alone MkII needs that abrasion hence the new addition to the rollers in the forth coming machine,i will remain with what i have got, more than happy, also possibly more mechanical parts to worry about with those rollers, your review quite rightly touches on what your previously reviewed with the MkII temperature etc and left to us the fastidious to work around or with.
Will be interesting if and when you can get your hands on the new machine, for me purely the curiosity.

I just need to rent one for a few months. I found boxes of records from my college days, that were handled by drunken friends once I get them clean, they’ll probably be OK for the next 40 years of neglect. Or should I use my dishwasher on the deicate cycle??

    • @TheAudiophileMan

I wonder if a rental service might very well be a new business opportunity for certain enterprising individuals out there? Might be a service to look out for when this one hits the streets.

Another thing to spend on. I’ve enjoyed modern tech immensely, but I don’t believe one needs a machine to clean well-cared for records. I feel one is better served investing in a better turntable. Great breakdown on these types of machines. Thanks 👍🏼🎶😎

I am currently developing a machine to put patina on records so they have all the pops and crackles that vinyl people like. I am calling it the Regritter. Because let's face it without those noises a record will just sound like a poorly recorded CD.
