Should just use a foam roller they make them from like 2 inches up

Doesn't it frustrate you when you get paint on the engraving? Is it possible to paint it first and then mask it? Just a thought 🙂

Hi Walter, you paint the engraving first, and then gently roller or dabber over the top and if applied in lots of thin layers the paint doesn't go into the engraving.

Alternatively, paint the wood block & give it some coats of varnish to leave a smooth finish. Carve & paint the desired lettering, any overpaint on the white background will not soak in due to varnish & wipe off with a damp cloth.

Thanks for that idea. It may work for some but our pieces are already engraved before the crafters start to decorate them.
