    You ask why they discredited him so badly; because the politicians at the time knew he was their biggest threat. They knew he had the power to change how we thought. They were afraid of him.

    One of Elvis' back-up singers said that when he chose a song he spent time alone with it until he felt it in his heart. And Elvis himself said during a rehearsal "I get carried away very easily...I'm an emotional s.o.b.". As he faced his own struggles, he was also extremely empathetic to the struggles of others. My opinion: all of this merged to create the magic of Elvis Presley.

    I am so glad the African American community is starting to delve into Elvis as a man and his music. Elvis always treated every human being with dignity. You can ask any of his backup singers, the Sweet Inspirations. The best thing anyone can do, if you see what a great guy he was, is be a friend to everyone. Never let politicians divide this country. Together, we all win.The King Forever❤❤❤❤

    It is well known that Elvis loved the song and that he did relate to it. Elvis stood up when others sat down; he went against the grain of segregation, racism & defied the critics from very early in his career throughout his life. All he ever wanted to do in life was to sing and to entertain people which is exactly what he did for his millions of fans worldwide. He broke down barriers and paved the way for countless other artists. Elvis toured relentlessly from the time he first 'hit the stage' in the 50's; and then again from 1969 to the time of his death the latter of which amounted to 1124 concerts. From his hairstyle to his fashion to his music, Elvis is considered to be the greatest cultural phenomenon of the 20th century...and he did it all his way.

    I don't understand people either..Whitney Houston and many singers never wrote a song but nothing is ever said..Only Elvis gets called out. It makes me crazy..Frank Sinatra..Whitney...Celine Dion..Beyonce..Ella Fitzgerald..Aretha Franklin..Diana Ross..Marvin Gaye..Rhianna..Elton John ..none of them have written a song and I could go on and on. It drives me nuts !!!! Maybe they don't know but please people leave Elvis alone !!!!😊 Love this song..Thanks ! 👍✌️

    This song describes Elvis' life to a tee. He was drafted because of his music and breaking the segregation laws, resulting in his mother's death. He made a choice about his music and standing up to the hatred of the times and it cost him dearly. He loved everyone. Sadly he thought he never did anything worth while. If he only knew that his love and power lives on. He was truly a gift from God.

    You are so spot on! This song was made for Elvis. If anyone did it his way, it was this man. No singer in history ever broke through so many barriers and influenced so many that came after him. No one changed culture and music like he did. He remained a kind, caring person despite his fame. He never forgot who he was and where he came from. I feel that you respect and love Elvis because you relate to him. You both would stick up for the underdog and fight the bullies. HUGS!!❤❤❤

    Elvis after the movie yrs as he did the 68 Comeback Special he stated that he’d never do another song unless he loved it and it meant something to him. So you are absolutely right, he can’t sing like he does so passionately if he didn’t feel those emotions in his soul. I sometimes find myself in tears after he’s sung a song because it affected me so and I don’t at times even know why. We love and adore you too. Not because of your love for Elvis, but how you stick up for him. That shows love for someone who’s unable to do it for himself. What greater love is there but that. Thanks so much for continuing to cover Elvis when you can. God bless. 😊😊❤❤❤❤

I was 13 when the’68 special aired, watched the Aloha special at my Aunt’s on a b&w tv, and I watched the special that aired on tv after he passed away, which broke my heart, but his voice was still incredible. You should react to "Unchained Melody”from that aired concert June 1977, his last live show 😢thank you for taking time to get to know Elvis, he was and still is a beautiful soul ❤️TCB ⚡️⚡️

    No you're quite right, the song totally fits him and he makes all of us feel it too. Music brings people together and that's what some in society fear. Elvis's life story, struggles, generosity and humanity are relatable to so many of us. That's why his legacy lives on despite all the attempts to discredit him from the very beginning of his career to the present day.

  • @clboelcke
    @clboelcke 4 місяці тому +9

    CV, I agree with you-even though Elvis didn’t write his own songs-he chose songs that resonated with him. Every song is written by a person and all the emotions and situations are common to all people. Elvis sang songs that connected with the common feelings, and situation, all people go through in a way no other artist ever did, even the songwriter themselves. Many of the song writers say how much better Elvis sang their songs-and some were written by people for Elvis!!! Red West, Elvis’s high school friend and body guard, wrote the song Separate Ways for Elvis when he and Priscilla were going through their divorce. His daughter Lisa Marie talks about how difficult it was for her to listen to it because it reminded her of the divorce and her being “taken” to California away from her dad. So, I think every song Elvis sang he connected to the humanity in it in a deep way!! Which is why it can almost literally hurt to listen to him sing some songs-they go down into your soul!

    • @Elvista
      @Elvista 4 місяці тому +1

      Correction: Red West song had nothing to do with Elvis and Priscilla Wagner Beaulieu... it's based on Red's own marriage breakdown. He brought it to EP and asked him to sing it - Elvis liked it, changed some of the words and sang it. Plus, not sure where some of you are getting your information that Elvis never wrote any of his original songs, but I'd like to know that source.

    Elvis' cousin,Billy, was also talking about how Elvis' dad, Vernon, decided to open Graceland for the fans to view Elvis' body after he passed. He said that he knew Elvis would have been happy he did that because Elvis was always open about how much he loved his fans and he always credited his fans for giving him the life he had.
    Billy was saying that there were thousands of people who came to Graceland that day, and there wasn't one incident. He said the people were crying, naturally, but they lined up and walked through, viewed Elvis and left. People wearing hats, removed their hat when they approached the coffin.
    He said the level of respect the fans showed was a testament to how much love and respect they had for Elvis. People loved him so much, because they knew how good, kind and generous he was.
    You are so right when you say that Elvis was more than just music.

    Funny you mention people saying they would have been friends with Elvis. His cousin, Billy Smith, has a UA-cam Channel, Elvis Fans Matter (EFM), and he actually mentioned that Elvis would often become friends with fans or random people he met. Billy said that he was just a normal, down to earth guy who, if he met you and he got along with you, would definitely be friends with you.
    You don't get people (celebrities) like Elvis anymore. I could never imagine a celebrity nowadays becming friends with a fan.

    I can relate to what your saying. He takes a song that he can relate to and that's why he can bring it home. Many artist can sing the same song and fails at it because they had nothing in their life to compare it to or has the feeling for that song. It almost feels like he forgets that there is an audience in front of him and closes his eyes and puts himself in those feelings and lives those emotions.

    This song tells his story too...just because he didn't live a long life doesn't mean he could not relate to the lyrics of this song.These lyrics could absolutely touch him personally. You are right you could have easily been friends with him. He would have been a good friend to you and if you needed help he would help you anyway he could. His heart was too big...many people took advantage of him....he knew it... but gave anyway. The problem with having such a big heart is after awhile ... it becomes weary...and tired and eventually .....it stops beating.

    Love the way Elvis sings this song..... Another great Aloha concert song is "What now my love" but the rehearsal version is the best of the 2 performances !!! Thank you 😁😁

    You cannot say enough good things about Elvis! I cannot stand to hear bad things about him...all of them coming from close-minded people who refuse to listen to him or have their preconceived ideas in mind.

    No this song definitely fit his life, elvis always picked songs that meant something to him. Or songs that had a message. No doubt that he was thinking about his life while singing that song. I know I thought of it

    Good point about the singer of the song. When tears fall down Elvis's face or when his expression changes on a particular line, Elvis inhabits the story portrayed; he taps into emotions and feelings

    I think that you would love hearing "I Was the One" by Elvis in Sept. 1956 when he was only 21 years old. Fantastic!!!!

    Elvis sang songs that he felt, that meant something to him.
    Please listen to these
    *You Gave Me A Mountain ( 1973 Aloha/Hawaii)
    *What Now My Love.(1973 Aloha/rehersal)
    *Bridge Over Troubled Waters (1970 Vegas)
