She sounds just like a princess in Disney movies. My mother was also a filipina, a pianist, trained opera vocalist. She died of cancer when I was 10. She had 5 kids. She also had that Disney/Broadway type voice because it was so angelic. It always lulled everyone to sleep and make people cry, including my dad! She was just a good mother. I hate watching animated Disney movies or musicals because there would always be someone singing with that type of voice and I instantly think of my mother.
With all due respect, Lea has always been fluent in speaking English since child and a lot of people in the Philippines even envied her for speaking so very well with the language .
Too bad "Too Much For One heart" was cut from the show and the B'way cast album. I first heard it on her CD: "The Broadway Concert" from Manila. Beautiful song!
Actually that was after she had gotten the part the director (Hytner) was upset because he thought there was no time to be wasting filming something for this "Making of" documentary
Actually, I believe it was Judy Kuhn who was Pocohantas in the movie. Lea Salonga did "Colors of the Wind" for the Disney Medley though. She also was the singing voices for Princess Jasmine and Mulan.
Funny thing is that guy you're calling the "pianist" is the one who made the music of Les Miserables and I think he has to have a big say in how any of the songs' rendition goes, whether the director is PMS'ing or not...lol.
No I know, I'm a theatre kid myself, but usually the director yells at us about everything BUT rehearsing...thats why I confused, because it seemed like they were rehearsing. But whatevs. I guess his strings were wound up as tight as they could go haha
i'm so happy you posted this! someone had the full audition up earlier, but they took it down. i was very angry. but it's up again, yay!! i love her voice here- it was so much prettier than it is now. don't get me wrong, she's still amazing, but she sounds less....unique now, i guess.
honey that's not "punk" that was the f word. You make the impact of the curse less 'scary.' Still, there is no excuse for being rude. We are in accord on that front.
to dino.. grand opening of d show is fast nearing, director hytner ( d angry guy) is under tremendous pressure to fin.rehearsals.got really irritated w/ d cont. filming of d event, getting in d way of his scheds.anyway,he & d pianist ( d great sconberg) are really good friends & all r professionals & it's all part of d job to say d least.
i think nicholas was screaming because of the camera men/crew... and he thought mac and lea were just playing around the song for showmanship to the cameras... i don't know.
She's amazing! It's awesome Well, what a man said when Lea singing "The last night of the world"? I can't understend.... We must do this....what before? I hear it like "Fucking"... It's right? What happened?
wow!! that was great! so that's how that's done… what was the guy in the backgroumd cussing about? "we're not doing the f*ing film…can we please do this?"
capitalizing that unknown stuff u placed above..she won a tony's award for best actress in the USA..shes larger than what u think shes unknown..im sorry..u must know her!
When a director is on a roll he's under a lot of stress he will swear and be snippy it not anyone fault that's how it is! honestly that was not a big deal! i have seen worse

Too bad "Too Much For One heart" was cut from the show and the B'way cast album. I first heard it on her CD: "The Broadway Concert" from Manila. Beautiful song!
Lea was in the original cast in 1990 in London so she was young then.

he was angry at claude for filming a part for the documentary instead of practicing for the show
@xEmmy07x How can you not notice - the rude director is shouting his head off!
Genius.

i'm so happy you posted this! someone had the full audition up earlier, but they took it down. i was very angry. but it's up again, yay!!
i love her voice here- it was so much prettier than it is now. don't get me wrong, she's still amazing, but she sounds less....unique now, i guess.

honey that's not "punk" that was the f word. You make the impact of the curse less 'scary.' Still, there is no excuse for being rude. We are in accord on that front.
ironic how the guy playing the piano is wearing a phillipines shirt
-her voice is soooo heavenly!
