Why is it that when people talk about racial diversity, there always seems to be a disproportionate focus on black people in particular? What about Middle Easterners? What about people from Central Asia? Or South Asia? Why always black people? And why always within the context of European history?
I made this video because I thought it was a curious question and easy enough to talk about but in general I think its because of $$$. The ethnicities you mention aren't really on youtube yet for the most part and those regions pay less per view. At least that should be a part of the reason why. Views from USA and western Europe are more valuable because of advertisers
Because white people don't know European history. All the nobility, kings and queens of Europe was black from the fall of Rome to the 1800s and there is overwhelming evidence. There was no easterners it was all black, and we was not slaves the information and evidence is overwhelming. Take for instance Gorm the old was a viking King the name Gorm means blue or black complexion, blue and black meant dark. Harald Gormsson was black as well
Isnt it funny those who accuse the elf race [what is elf in nordic lol] of culturally appropriating shit are the ones doing it! North for the elf reich, south for the demons od baal!
The problem with asserting a multiracial scandinavia is that you have to explain where it went. We may not know what the vikings looked like in 1000 AD, but we absolutely know what scandinavia looked like for the past 400 years. If you assert that there was diversity in scandinavia, you also have to explain what happened to it, and why it disappeared completely.
Thats a great question here is the answer. There was blacks in the viking culture Gorm the old was black, the name Gorm means blue, black or dark. Harald Gormsson was black as well. Harold's grandson was named Cnute the surname Nutt derived from Cnut meaning brown complexion. To make a long story short, all the kings and queens of Europe was black thats why its called the Dark ages. Rumors has it that around 1300s the wildmen of Europe began to emerge from the Caucasus and they brought the bubonic plague killing 25 million black nobility and thats the real reason its called the black death. The black nobility practice a very strict code of racism and feudalism against the white peasants and slaves and the peasant began to revolt. From 1400s to 1700s the white population exploded while the black nobility steadily declined it never recovered from the black death. Capitalism was becoming popular and to make sure Capitalism replace feudalism these people called the Rothschilds recruited this guy named Napoleon to start getting rid of the black nobility. Long story short after wars and civil wars and failed rebellion all the blacks was in trouble. They started chopping kings and queens heads off, and they enslaved all the blacks in Europe to the Americas and caribbeans and thats where we are today. Those Scottish names, and Irish, German, Russian, Danish, all of European names you have are black names to this day. So the answer to your questions is all those black nobility, kings, queens, Vikings are over in the Americas and caribbeans and my name Campbell can be trace to a Scottish clan. Keep in mind that it was black kings that signed off on slavery when it was black and white indentured servants.

@gorrillawhale1046 Well let me tell you sir, you live in the world of alternative facts now, a world where truth doesn’t matter, and I’m a writer. Now to black people, specially black Americans, everybody was black at one point and they all ruled the world, and I’m not even kidding, a lot of them believes this stuff. From the kings and Queens of Europe to the Czars and Emperors of China to the rulers of the new world black people ruled it all, it’s kinda ridiculous to be honest, but a lot of them believe this, it’s true.

Stranger than fiction but it's true! At least 30% of so called African American DNA is European and European doesn't necessarily mean pale skin CaucASIAN!
"to be historically accurate it does not make sense to portray a medieval society that appears almost more diverse than modern European societies" I couldn't have said it more clearly than this
Why would you drag slaves across the entire known world (a vast logistical and resource headache back then, when such voyages could takes months), in order to have them work in a climate that is the exact opposite of where they came from? A slave from where the Vikings visited in North Africa (the population of which would have been primarily Berber and Arab at that time - not "black" like the later Guinea Coast slave trade) would have been completely unsuitable for working in Scandinavia's potentially sub-zero winter temperatures, and vice-versa. It's not like they were short of places to raid for slaves in Europe, which is far closer in terms of both transportation and climate. And why were there basically no black or mixed-race Northern and Western Europeans during the more thoroughly chronicled centuries that followed prior to modern mass migrations? I have seen these kinds of claims about the UK, but every late-ninteenth and early-twentieth century video footage from a variety of UK cities shows almost no non-white people (in hours of reviewed footage, I believe only two or three were ever seen amongst a total of thousands of people). Were they all forcefully removed prior to that, and the evidence of the mass removal destroyed? Or were they simply never there in the first place? I know which of these two options is less conspiratorial. Miniscule numbers of missionaries, traders and various other wanderers from distant lands? Sure, I can believe that. But this feels like the inverse of some kind of fanciful claim that... "We know Marco Polo made it to China in the thirteenth century, so maybe there was a white Emperor in China?!?!". There wasn't.
@@Hammer_of_moab 1) In that sense, "negro" refers to darker-skinned natives (similar to modern-day Amazon tribes), who had almost nothing in common with African Americans today - almost all of whom are decended from the c.16th - c.19th century Guinea Coast slave trade. 2) Vikings were in Newfoundland, which is nowhere near where the Spanish landed. 3) This Newfoundland settlement was small and short-lived. This idea that the Americas were full of West African black people all the way up to Newfoundland, who mixed with Vikings and came back to Europe as "black Vikings" seems very unlikely. Also, where have their black decendents been in Scandinavia these past 1000 years? There's almost zero record of them in literature, art, war chronicles or modern DNA records.
1% of 1700s London was Black. Liverpool's Black community is 3 centuries old. They were free people, merchants, politicians, university graduates, pub owners, factory workers and more. cool video. I did the MyHeritage test and discovered I'm 30% Black-Scandinavian ethnicity on dad's side and 43% Irish-Scottish-Welsh ethnicity on mom's side, father has excessively dark skin and was raised with the insight of being black-Viking heritage; mother is light-skinned-freckled. I ended up with the craziest hazel/gold eyes and naturally orange/ginger-curly-afro hair. People are always asking me what my other heritage is and I automatically respond "I'm half black"; to which they respond "duh, I figured that out... what's the other half?". by the way, there are no DNA genetic markers for associated with being black, it does not exist. Funny how genetics work. so while the DAN test cant validate black, it did show validity that by father has Vikin-Scandinavian heritage that lines up with father descending for black-Vikin's.
What bothers me about this argument is that it always just answers the question if it might have been possible that there were black or brown people in pre medieval scandinavia. The answer is obviously “yes”, but it is never really answered how many there were. That is, because there were extremely few and these were mostly merchants that didn’t stay permanently. My great grandma grew up in Rumania in the early 20th century. The first time she ever saw a black person was when she ran into African American Infantrymen in Hamburg in 1945. If you want to be historically accurate it does not make sense to portray a medieval society that appears almost more diverse than modern European societies. You wouldn’t want a historically accurate movie about the congolese kingdom and complain that there are no white people even though they traded heavily with the Portuguese for instance
There were more white people in Congo than black people in Northern or Eastern Europe, and even Western Europe for a long time. There were a few black people in Spain in mostly Muslim ruled territories, but most of them were slaves and eunuchs, and the fact that they must have been very few and not left any descednants is obvious when you look at genetics of Spanish people. South Western Spaniards from the specific region of Huelva get, on average, a bit of Sub-Saharian ancestry, this being below 1%, plus this ancestry is dated to the time of the Spanish Empire and transatlantic slave trade, given South Western Spain is the region where most of this markets were (some individuals have shown up to 3% Sub-Saharian African dna, but the average for the region doesn't even reach 1%, while in the rest of Spain it is virtually non-existent). So, Spain is probably the European country which saw the most black Sub-Saharian people prior modern times due to the Muslim slave market, and yet, the Spanish population today has virtually 0 Black ancestry, and the only region where this ancestry does show up, it appears in an average of under 1%, and it seems to not even date to Medieval times, but 16-18th century slave trade for the most part. So I just don't understand how poeple want to make black presence in Medieval Europe or prior times (not even in Medieval Spain) so prominent as to always having one (if not two) Black African character, when what we know due to science as old texts is that 99,99% of Europeans would have never seen a black person in their lifetime. But somehow, now every single village in Europe had at least one black neighbour no one was surprised about nor asked questions about, because it must have been, oh, so normal for them to see black people that no onw would have ever wonder where they came from.
Agreed. As a history buff and a not fucking Insane leftist, this woke bullshit pisses me off.. the Viking Era already had ample mixing of people(look at the Rus.. you don't have to make up a Black jarl..)
@One and Only RJ I know. There were some samurai to made it to mid to late 1500s mexico.. they guarded the caravans of silver, that were mined in south America. They were few in number, but they did exist..
As if Black's are the only Non Northern Europeans people that are Brown, Yellow, Red, Green, Caramel, Golden, Caramel, Olive, And Purple should also be mentioned yeah.
Other races generally have their own history to be proud of and don't try to latch onto other people's history like black people, this is why we hear stuff about Israelites, Vikings, Egyptians, Native Americans being black because certain groups push this narrative.

You do realise North East Africa had trade routes with Europe in the ancient era? There may well have been vikings with Sudanese heritage. Ghana is closer to France than it is to South Africa. So a White Zulu in the medieval era is impossible because of distance. There were Sudanese and Ethiopians in Ancient Rome in their European holdings like Britain and Gaul.
@@joshuascott3428 Ethiopians and Sudanese are sub-Saharan Africans and may have been present in medieval Scandinavia as they were present in Gaul and Britain in ancient Roman times
They where. Remember there where no other people doing this stuff. It was only Black people. There where no white Europeans. Only Romans who conquered the Byzantines which where blacks.
There is not such a thing as black vikings, barbarians(thracians), romans... This history belongs to white people and its part of European history and culture. But wait, it's politically wrong to exclude black people nowdays. Maybe I ll play in a mongolian movie as Genghis Khan although I m easter European... Black people know nothing about european history and the invasions that took place and nothing about their history except the one with being slaves 100+ years ago. During the vikings times there were no black people in europe. Maybe a few slaves amongst hundreds of thousands other slaves from other regions.
I have seen about a dozen movies set in Africa, with African actors, directors, locations and stories and themes and those were highly enjoyable and entertaining movies. What is more there was not a single white person in any of them and there was no need for a token white person in them, they stood on their own as a compelling and entertaining story. Those dozen African movies I've seen weren't hollywood movies, they weren't telling some agenda hollywood was trying to force on people. I don't know why hollywood feels the need to hijack the cultural stories of white peoples and their history by placing a token black person in them, there are wonderful stories yet to be told in Africa, those dozen movies I've seen were good, had a different perspective from anything I've seen coming out of hollywood where they are only interested in showing white people as evil. Africa has its own history and stories, if hollywood was interested in black culture those stories would be told but all we ever see in American movies set in Africa is American culture and history being overlaid over African stories and we don't ever see African historical stories or even modern stories being told. Frankly I'm bored with those American stories, I did however find the movies coming out of various African countries very good and enjoyable. I saw those African movies on Australian SBS TV with sub-titles.
hey all match my dna as a nordic any day of the year to this bull crap of black norse fantasy land spead by anti white history rewrites haters by people that are at war on white cultures
Sorry, but the likelihood of Sub-Saharan Africans among the Norse is just not plausible beyond maybe a handful that were brought as slaves through trade with the Rus or Morroco. North Africa along the Mediterranean is on the same continent as Sub-Saharan Africa but these populations are very different culturally and historically. The Norse are only briefly mentioned in the Mediterranean as they colonized and traveled along the northern latitudes including North America. The Sahara was as impassible as a vast ocean for much of history, so the Norse would never have had direct contact with the nations of Sub-Saharan Africa. The Rus are also fairly distinct from the Norwegian and Icelandic peoples, so the people that Ibn Fadlan met were not fully representative of the entire Norse society but only a small percentage of it (like meeting someone on the East Coast and thinking that is representative of the whole USA). Also you can look at places like Iceland today (the descendants of actual Vikings) and the people are pretty uniformly Scandinavian excluding a few immigrants from elsewhere that have arrived in the recent past. We can also easily see which places in the world had significant black slaves as their descendants are still there today (Caribbean, etc). I don't quite understand the need to put people of various ethnicities in places where they make no historical sense. I suppose the Vikings are seen as an interesting group and many would like their ancestors to have been a part of that group of people. Rather than try to put ethnicities in places they didn't exist or replace historical figures like Cleopatra, it would be much more interesting to shine a light on some of the African nations that we know less about.
Just for info.We didn't have the word black in Scandinavian back then...we called black blue. Harald Bluetooth probably had a very black tooth. Which make sense.. since when do teeth go blue ? Just important knowledge to know when talking about the modern concepts of black and white...we can't apply them the same to the past!
Something I have been trying to point out on numerous threads, the fixation on words, because Scottish/Irish Gaelic has a word for black (dubh) is cited as evidence that Dublin means black lake but MUST also mean black people founded Ireland is not a leap of logic, its abandoning logic. Scots wearing a kilt, carry a Sgian Dubh (translates as knife black) there is no recorded or historic standard that demands this knife, the blade or the handle is black, instead there are countless links to its intent/purpose, it was hidden, not in plain site, so the knife was in a dark place, intended to be use for 'dark purposes' but no, the Afrocentric charlatans will claim, a black knife is further proof Black people not only were the first people in Scotland but ruled the country for centuries
I find it hard to believe that black stones, coal, mold, black mushrooms etc. were called "blue", that no word for black existed. But either way, there were no black Vikings.
@@ExtremeDeathman You also have to factor in how the meaning of words changes over time, it's quite possible this has reached a peak over the last 50 years or so, sick, used to mean sick, hundreds of years ago NICE meant Ignorant, MEAT meant all 'solid' food, when I was a kid the word 'ace' to mean something is good was thrown around like it was a new invention, he is ace, that was an ace shot, that car is ace,,the older generation were aware of the word but it was limited to either Tennis or Pilots.
@@ExtremeDeathman They were called blue stones of course and africa was called the Blueland and thats where the blue people lived. Im not kidding. There are sagas describing "dark-skins" or "dark-skinners". They were EXTREMELY rare.. The sagas are in fact THE source of information of Viking history, and they make it pretty crystal clear that yes, there were SOME Vikings of dark skin, but they were extremely rare. So rare that they get special mention in the sagas as enigmas. And also, this completely baseless assumption pushed by the media that the Vikings were somehow "diverse" and that there were an abundance of "black vikings" is so totally low intelligence, shitty research, common sense defying, utterly obvious bullcrap, lol. How the hell is Norway, Denmark and Iceland some of the most homogenous countries in terms of skin color and genetic diversity in the developed world TODAY if they were so incredibly diverse even A THOUSAND years ago???? It is utterly, and laughably senseless to believe such a thing, and it makes at a loss of hope to think that so many people are THAT gullible. No wonder humanity is on a clear cut path to self-destruction if our brains are that incapable of critical thought...
Yeah, dark skin doesnt mean black/subsaharan people. More likely just brown local people, middle eastern or north african slaves (which were already somehow rare). A subsaharan black slave would be very very very rare. Also only for the very wealthy as it came from very far. Maybe a couple (if that) in all of the viking age. Most slaves were celtic or slavic with some mediterranean folk.
The sagas also told of shieldmaidens, but as far as we can tell, it didn't happen, and logically wouldn't, since women are less expendable in a tribal setting than men. The sagas talking about Blacks for all we know were just speaking of some mythical race or sunburnt Europeans. Who knows
Another thing to mention, the historical accounts of dark skin vikings, show that the viking culture, weren't that accepting of dark skinned people. So even if there MIGHT have been a couple dark skinned vikings, the viking culture was FACTUALLY, meaning according to EVIDENCE, NOT inclusive.

@@helpdesk9535 I was speaking about the late viking era. When we became traders and had giant trading stations like Hedeby. We also had slaves back then, and some slaves would be granted freedom. They returned to Rome, however they knew that invading were out of the question, before conquring the Germanian tribes. And we all know how that went down. Being a viking, is mostly about culture and not that much about genetics as such. The genetic angle are mostly down to the fact, that we were so isolated. That never happened. Babylon would’ve been in the Middle East, where Iraq is. Black Africans are on an entirely different continent RIGHT BELOW the biggest desert in the world. There were NO black Vikings.
There is no evidence that I've seen to show that some African trader or whatever ended up becoming a Viking. You see, they weren't trying to genetically diversify, they were trying to survive and build they're empire. They didn't take on random recruits or absorb others into their culture unless they took a wife pr artisan they may need who was an asset. I'm unaware of any outsider Vikings but there were outsider samurai one of whom was definitely African. I would very much be interested in learning an African viking existed but either he died fast and was not noteworthy or it didn't happen and as mentioned by others Black Irish Black Celts and even the Black Watch were all incredibly white people. Like you can use them as a light in a dark room white. The word "Black" was not used as a physical descriptor and as most people are unaware Don Quixote was written by a black aristocrat as well as the existence of "black african" nobility in Europe is very real and old. France and Spain being notable. These weren't african warlords per say but were European nobility who were of african descent and would to this day continue to be part of their collective culture influencing weren't culture in ways that are glossed over and ignored in exchange for arguments over more recent issues which are seemingly American more than others.

Because when they bring up the need for people of color they don’t mean other groups of people just gay, black and trans people
Because American social issues dominate the discourse on any English-speaking social media.
@@sn0wdon It's a social issue found in the UK and France, too, because there are significant Black populations found in their major cities
Harald Gormsson was black as well
Quick answer and the only factual answer: NO.
Exactly The Vikings Never Explored Sub Saharan Africa that’s why it’s impossible for there to have been a black viking
Isnt it funny those who accuse the elf race [what is elf in nordic lol] of culturally appropriating shit are the ones doing it! North for the elf reich, south for the demons od baal!
@Modern-Grey so do the people who assert Vikings were black.
Thing is the people who believe that are the ones who need to prove it.

No.

@@Hammer_of_moab Who traded with "negros" (your words) in America?
@@Hammer_of_moab
1) In that sense, "negro" refers to darker-skinned natives (similar to modern-day Amazon tribes), who had almost nothing in common with African Americans today - almost all of whom are decended from the c.16th - c.19th century Guinea Coast slave trade.
2) Vikings were in Newfoundland, which is nowhere near where the Spanish landed.
3) This Newfoundland settlement was small and short-lived.
This idea that the Americas were full of West African black people all the way up to Newfoundland, who mixed with Vikings and came back to Europe as "black Vikings" seems very unlikely.

Who knows

@brostenen ohh, not your comment bro, but the picture with a black Viking. I would maybe do a movie of Muhammed Ali s life played by a white actor. 🤔
Black people came in Europe around 8th century. Viking's age was until 9-10 century. 00000.1% possibility of a black Viking.
now you wuz scandnavianz n shieet too ?!
I tried to tell my ex that It's misleading that theirs no Black Pharaohs in movies just White and Middle Easterners and she didn't understand why I would say that.I know not all Actors are black but, come on it's bad enough that all Africas items are in Museums overseas and their Obelisks in Washington D.C. Archeologist stole enough. We don't even get African history from African sadly. Most people don't even think Egypt was African populated. If the do they would say that aliens built they country.
@Yousif Boti Ancient Egypt population have trace origins from the Middle East and the Sudan when it tropical before the younger drayest. Egyptians came from the Sudan and the Congo. The Nubians predates the Egyptians and are know for their spearheads. But most importantly not all blacks in other countries were not slaves some were settlers
@Yousif Boti the problem is childish people like you that with a childish consciousness, narcissistic and a betrayer of nations with leads the world in blind foolishness. Africans started slavery but, never mistreated slaves and we trust people. that's our problem. you can't be trusted but we think you are healthy headed like us
@Yousif Boti too bad you don't know how much millions of dollars are founded in mainstream history to keep you in disagreement with me. too bad you don't understand how much ignorance and ill nourishment is put in our foods and minds just to have us arguing with each other. too bad it feels better to be rude and negative when you know we are both being used as pounds. too bad. I know know what's going on. do you know what happens to a powerful racist ruler wo always contradicts himself and always has his way. it's actually worst to be all powerful. it's better to have nothing it's better to be black. it's better to be the creators of everything even if you all steal all the credit. at the end of the day you wish you was me.
@@justintime2713 LMFAO 🤣
This movie was so good, that i did not dreamed about it
unlike Morbius, movie that i will never seen because it's shitass
Haha, Morbius was a disaster
They take anything now
The problem is that you can’t fathom that the Vikings were black
No, there weren't any black vikings.
Not of
course!
this was just stupid....
i could go into why but the comment section has already covered that.
Could? Duh. Anything is possible. Did? NO. End of story.
3:58 OK apparently you don't know what that word means. Slave means worker. They earn money. Bondage means someone under contract an if that contract is broken they are put in chains an forced to finish the job. But still get paid. What you are showing here are CAPTIVES. Meaning Prisoners. Not Slaves. These are people most likely stolen from their homes with no skills an forced labor.
isnt it the same? if you are prisoner and work for no money then you are slave
Of course they were and are dark skinned smh

If we are talking film, if the story is complete fiction then the shows could be more diverse by having other ethnicities present in some form. I think people just want to see themselves on tv.
That's only true if you have no desire to show the truth and to present coherent narratives, especially considering that if the tables were turned and a white man was chosen to portray Martin Luther King or Shaka Zulu the other side of the question would have a friggin' stroke...
Make them Vikings asians 😂 bro this world... going down.
Allah's promise is true. Adhere to His religion, for your own good.
No, just no, and it’s wrong af.
Oum nope theres no such thing as blackk vikings if there is they will be called vikongs
😂😂😂
Answer: No.
It's documented white history only goes back around 5000bc. Europe..from since the ice 🧊 ages er ended 10/11000bc black historical goes back to over 240,000yrs. And started migrated out of Africa 45,000 bc to 63000bc. Into Europe.. so all things white is of black history originated ancient times ⏲.
You would think that with so much time there would be .... well more. Where did you get the 5k years because that is a lie. By stating those years you have proven you are either ignorant or a liar. So which is it?
Africans were picked up by Vikings after ancient Babylon fell so yeah there are dark skin Vikings lots of influential groups had African women as wives
and when did ancient babylon fell? im curious
Lol. If there were no black people in Scandinavia in the Middle Ages, how come there are black people there now? Did they just suddenly sprout out the ground? 🤣
I realy hope this was a joke...
@@ramireza6904 Why?
😮😂😂😂
Yeah theres no such thing as a black viking😂
Scandinavian people at the time was not black i know that because i'm scandinavian.
Vikings enslaved people from around the world,,, the Roman empire was diversified when it came to race,,, and the distribution of that DNA base. This certainly worth people of African descent, North and South, that lived in England due to the Romans. Just like Moscow and Kiev was founded by Vikings,,,, so it's more than realistic that people of different backgrounds what transported back to Scandinavian lands. Why is it so hard to believe when it is known for a fact that Vikings in the breeded with the natives on Greenland
we wuz vikangz n sheeit
