  • This video features a sped up, time lapse video of the sequential and systematic deconstruction of a 7-storey, concrete and brick government building in downtown Toronto. At one time a government bookstore before becoming a provincial office building, 880 Bay was over 70 years old and beyond its useful life. The project achieved a 95 per cent waste diversion rate, meaning materials in the video were recycled, avoiding landfills. Priestly Demolition also used innovative sea containers as hoarding at street level to keep pedestrians safe. Dismantling of 880 Bay is one of 47 demolitions completed by Infrastructure Ontario in the last two years. For more information, please visit: www.infrastructureontario.ca
