I'm just wondering, why did they choose Leyte? Cordilleras should have been a better option. Unless because of the NPA.
Because Leyte is a natural home to our Eagles. :) But the eagles were wiped out after the Supertyphoon Yolanda struck the island. :( So these eagles were re-introduced to its natural haven.

Can someone tell if they're still alive a few days after release?
@@princebautista of course they are. They didnt just release them and forget about them. It took more than 10 years of extensive reseach to choose their new safe haven. And people were trained and informed. And there are more than 20 forest guards assigned to the new forest sanctuary. People were educated that killing the Monkey-Eating Eagles is a crime punishable for up to 12 yrs imprisonment and with large fines. They are closely monitored and more eagles are going to be released soon!! Because it will take at least 5-10 yrs for them to sexually mature and propagate!!
@@manilagurl thanks for the info, i feared they'd get killed by the locals. maybe they can continue tracking their movement for years to come to make sure they're still alive and moving.
I've heard stories of locals capturing them just to show them off and most of them end up dying.
@@princebautista those are not allowed anymore. It is considered a crime. And the eagles are highly protected.

These 2 were released in Leyte. And mino-monitor very closely ng park rangere. Over 20 park rangers are guarding them
