I have a DVD of the Now Voyager movie. The movie is actually a dream sequence where the character that Barry is playing is shown how he has been selfish, self-centered & and unfaithful to the girl who loved him. In Shine Shine, Barry is watching the wedding seeing how he (thru his own fault) lost his girl to another man. He missed his chance.

@@eh-i1841 Out of all the brothers Barry and Andy looked the most alike for sure BUT Andy was shorter, much slighter build, most of the time had no beard and basically had more of the pretty boy look. Barry on the other hand was taller, larger build, hair mostly like a lion and was basically more manly. I also can not hear it when people say they sounded alike. Barry had a unique voice. In this video Barry and Andy look less like each other than at other times.

Exceptional that they were active in so many music genres. From folk to country, romantic ballads, disco, R&B ,. . . up to classical music, which they proved on the album "Odessa". Not to mention the "Titanic Requiem", composed by Robin and his son R.J. I think this work is wonderful. I suggest some songs from Robin's album" 50 St. Catherines's Drive". Especially "Days of Wine and Roses". This album was released after his death.

It is not exacly true that this was the only released solo album before 2016. He also made the soundtrack for the movie Hawks in 1988. The album was originally planned for his 1986 album Moonlight Madness but ended up to be used in the movie Hawks. All songs on that album was sung by Barry except Chain Reaction by Diana Ross which was written by the brothers for her 1984 album Eaten Alive and then saw rerelease on Hawks.

Really like this song from Barry, it's got a great beat not often heard in their work. Maurice co- wrote four songs on the album and Robin one. Maurice also played bass and synthesizer on the demos only. Shame it wasn't more popular. I have absolutely no objection to you concentrating on individual Bee gees such as Barry. He's always been a brilliant artist and extremely easy on the eye! Looking forward to next week's marathon. Thanks Chad!

I thought he was the father of the bride...with a new " man" having the love of his daughter. And wishing them well to "shine" on together. It was too upbeat and fun to be a love lost. ??? I struggled with this question. I believe the song is by a father. I believe there is a line that says, (not a quote) something like you were convinced in love.
There aren't strong enough, descriptive enough words to accurately describe Barry's talent, versatility and downright good looks (that goes for Robin and Mo as well). The video actually runs a little bit longer, but the song was basically over. Thank you Chad, no other reactor focuses on the BeeGees other than you.
I love this album. I recommend two other songs Stays alone and One night for lovers.

Forgotten 'Hawks', Chad, soundtrack-album from 1986, I think. Very good songs on board, like 'Childhood Days', which is very meaningful. But great reaction as usual, so thanks again. What's to say about 'Shine Shine' and also the whole album 'Now Voyager'. Well, many beautiful songs within. Just like on 'How Old Are You', Robin's soloalbum from the eighties. Both were minor successful, but why? Because of the backlash! To me, nothing lesser good than the hits, they had with Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick and Diana Ross.

I knew you would like it! I know you kinda were confused but the 1st track off the album ( I am your driver), with its space/Klingon theme….but there are great songs on it like this one. I like I am your driver too, even though I don ‘t think you did, all that much. If you ever get a chance watch The whole album/video…think it is still out on you tube as well as the making of the compilation as well. That white/cream colored suite really looks good on him as well as his shorter hair. When it is shorter it is a lot curlier. That is why the hair looked so fluffy in the 70’s, ( shag cut of curly hair and blown dry)….know from experience. 😎

The music video was actually cut a little short. In the full clip at the very end Barry walks in the background before the photographer gets his attention and tells him to get closer for a group photo. It seems to me like he was a guest at the wedding, but almost not being noticed that he’s even there.

the now voyager film is excellent in my opinion, although it more or less is just a bunch of music videos stitched together rather than a movie with a plot - it’s very enjoyable though and one of my favourite projects from barry!

There are so many songs, it is hard to keep up sometimes. I would also like see a reaction to a song called the Way it Was from the Children of the World album from 1976. I was amazed to see a current picture of your beautiful daughter. She has matured so much.
I raised my daughters on my own from the ages of 12 and 15 after very traumatic events! They are now 30 and 27 respectively. Both are college gtaduates, relatively happy and successful. i also have my wonderful 7 year old granddaughter. Diamonds can come out of the ashes! Never give up!!!

When this first came out in 1984ish I did not know what to make of it.....I now know this as a lost and unrecognised classic. It is brilliantly composed and put together. It and the album were not hits....but it was another age of Wham! Duran Duran and Culture Club and Michael Jackson et al. Oh well...we have it and can listen and enjoy it. Good man again Chadman.

The last fiew days a look atvlot of Chads comments to Bee Gees or better Gibbs compositions as the Bee Gees himself, as solist or composer for other singers, and I am absolut with you. The Brothers are often unterated with their brillant talent of song writing and their honoration in a lot of song writer billboards came late. When you consider you young they begun to start writing world hits like in the morning, spick and specks, Massachusetts for me with their wide range of harmonies thea are the Mozarts of pop music.

Definitely a heavier Barry with shorter hair. He definitely has that mid to late 80s look. And of course I don’t think there is a generation of Barry that he doesn’t look good. Even in his sunset years now. Still has that it factor. The 80s stuff from him is comical, specially the short film clips. But they are fun to watch!

Barry wrote this to his beloved daughter, "a symbol ...of the love that we made". It's for her future wedding, unknown to him when it would be, but he's expressing his love, and hopes for her, giving her his blessing, predicting she and her husband will "shine, shine" as a couple, but, assurimg her that he will always love her, as he's done since she was a "beautiful angel with the sun in her eyes". Barry is the most loving, gentle person, his songs reflect his life of love and care for his family, and virtually the world through his beautiful music, acts of charity, etc. 53 year marriage, took his whole family everywhere he went, etc, etc, an exemplary life of honor, commitment, and lots of love.

'Now Voyager' had to be such a letdown for Barry. Following a record financial deal with MCA records and the success he had with Streisand, Dionne Warwick and Kenny Rogers, this was just not successful.....or very good. His singing in the 80's was very hard to understand and the melodies were long and meandering. This song had real potential but, as with the entire album, it was too complicated and overproduced.
