sounds mean. how do you like the set up still?
Well I ended up taking the C4 out and putting in a 6R80 transmission in it. I got disgusted with the electronic controller that controlled the transmission so I ended up selling the engine and transmission. Then that’s when I bought a Ford Barra engine from Australia for the car. I started getting everything for the Barra but money got tight and now it sits. Still have the Barra. I have another 351w I may build again like the one I had. I regret selling that 351. But can easily duplicate it. Also thought of doing a Godzilla but money is tight at the moment. I also have to finish my ranger.
What cam
Comp Cams Big Mutha Thumpr
What was the lift on the cam? I know there's a few of those big mutha thumpr cams. Lol.
I like your cut G
Are those the AFR 185s or 205s?? She sounds nasty!!
Actually these were the 165’s!! And she was nasty. 👍🏼
@@1953fords really?? I'm impressed!! Any power numbers by any chance?
@@anthonysiler4938 sorry never dynoed it. But if you think of everyone swapping LS engines. These AFR 165’s flow better than and stock LS head. So this should have been comparable in power to a cammed LS. Yes I know it takes $2000 heads to compare to junk yard LS engine. But I was very impressed myself with how this ran and how responsive it was.
So my guess is around 400 hp to be honest, thats not bad at all.. even though it sounds more like 500 hp.. eather way it sounds like an LS killer ..
@@anthonysiler4938 yes if I was to guess I would have around 400/425 as well.
What cam did you have in that motor
As stated in the title Big Mutha Thumpr Comp Cams Hydraulic roller. Thanks
Sounds good brother!
Wooo ❤❤❤
Stock pistons?
Do you remember the lift and duration?
.552/.538 107 lobe separation. 243/257 duration @ .050 thanks for watching
Nice!
A lot of people see this cam as a "joke" but in all seriousness....does the cam actually make decent power?
Yes I hear that a lot as well. This engine ran very strong and hard. Never dynoed it. But I was happy with it. I had this cam also in a notchback but in a 302 with TFS heads. First time at track ran 12.36 of the trailer. Back 12 years ago. I love this cam. Are there ones out there that make more power? Yes there are. But I love the sound as well. 👍🏼
@@1953fords thanks bro. I'm putting together a stroked Windsor for a 72 merc comet. I plan on running afr or 11r heads....I know it'll easily be over 500hp but that sound is amazing lol
@@charlesthorpe3179 very awesome. Yes nothing grabs attention more than a nasty stumbling idle. I built a 64 comet caliente. Back in mid 90’s. I built it all factory AFX style. I was building a 66 427 side oiler High Riser. Never finished the 427. But built a Merc 410 FE for it. Solid cam 12.5 compression 1050 dominator. That engine was nasty. But sold that car in 2003 and used the money for down payment on our first house🤷🏻♂️. Good luck with your comet. 👍🏼
@@1953fords man that's awesome. Thanks for the information.
Exactly. Other Cams have better power sure. But the sound of this? This cam?? It's off the chain!!?!!
I have a big Mutha thumpr cam that's being delivered today! From summit.
Going in a 9.8:1 comp, 381 sbc, Vic Jr. heads and intake. Made 511hp on dyno before with a more modest solid roller comp cams.
Not going to race it, just cruise it. 81 Z28.
Hell of a sound dude!
Where can I find the AFR heads?
Jegs and Summit both have some.
