As a retired Heavy Equipment Truck Driver and Operator of Heavy Equipment like this. I can there are simple ways to help line you up when re-attaching the neck of the trailer. There's Magnetic alignment arm that you can slap on the neck that you line up with a painted mark on the deck of the trailer that makes things a lot easier to line up on it. Thats what I used the last 4 yrs before I retired. Because I went from being a Owner Operator and only un hooking maybe 3 or 4 times a week (Sometimes not at all) to working local (Home every night) to unhooking some times a dozen times a day, when hauling asphalt Equipment. And it was ALWAYS right out in the MIDDLE OF THE DAM STREET. With NO one around to help keep traffic off your ass.
What you do is a dream for me. I'm 17 and work at a Job at McDonald's and go to school for welding. My favorite part of the day is getting home from the McDonald's job and getting to work on my many vehicles and projects or doing work with my tractor. I tell you what I'd much rather work outside and getting my hands dirty and learning new things then doing the same thing everyday. Watching what you guys do makes me jealous but also makes me drive harder to get to where y'all are at. Thank you
4:14 it really is a way different feeling. I was an OTR driver for about a year before I had to Park due to health issues. But man. . . The rumble and feeling of running through gears on a 13 speed driving through the mountains of Colorado with 80,000 lbs . . . Indescribable!
I pull an RGN daily. There’s a little tip I use to line up the gooseneck every time perfectly by myself. Make sure that when you disconnect you are perfectly straight with the truck and trailer. Look in your mirror sitting normally in your driving position at where your drive tires lineup on the trailer frame edge when you disconnect. So that when you put it back together, make sure you are straight with the trailer and your drive. Tires are exactly where they were against the trailer edge and you should be lined up perfectly. Hope it helps.
i love what you share, i love the fact you make funny videos and then their are some serious videos like this and a lot of the rescues you do like the snowy rescues where you are basically peoples last hope to get back to normal life again. And you and your guys go out of the way to make it happen even though you don't have to but you do it anyway trying to help those less fortunate then yourself.
Great video. But can’t help notice that little light bar black taped to the visor of the kenworth. You should look into a whelen legacy duo lightbar. Would look great on there as it is low profile. Keep up the great videos!

When i ran lowboy it became habit to dump the bags on the truck AND the trailer before unhooking the neck....sometimes if the trailer was aired up when unloading it would over-air to compensate for the load being off, this really throws the gooseneck off for reattaching...b

Before my parents got divorced my dad use to be and still is as far as I'm aware a heavy wrecker tow truck driver. For as long as I can remember since I was little he always drove the semi trucks whether it was long haul or the crane trucks for sheet rock companies and now heavy wrecker. He was good at it even got to use the company rotator and there was times he'd bring me on some calls and he taught me how to operate the controls of a wrecker. Communication for those is key especially when he's under there pulling out the driveline on a broke down tractor trailer but it was some cool and fun father son time during that time frame of my life. Thought I'd share cause this video reminded me of him.

I appreciate this video and let me tell you why. I have a 4100 Manitowoc tower crane that I moved from jobsite to jobsite. 18 semi loads to move it. Then once it’s moved, we have to unload it and put it all back together. Stand it up with 300 foot boom and another 150 foot of working boom. Then start the job and finish the job 6 to 8 weeks later, and do it all over again. And I work all over the United States and Canada and a little bit in Mexico !! Each track for the crane weighs 40,000 pounds apiece. I know exactly what Dave is talking about. Thanks for a very well narrated video. It made me pat myself on the back, because after a while, you just take it for granted !! But it’s far far from granted. It’s a very very dangerous job just hauling it and setting it up not to mention doing the job raising 50 ton over 200 to 300 feet in the air. And just like Dave I would not have it any other way !! 💪🏽💪🏽😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This video was fire 🔥 and everybody got a friend like bud! As a salvage and tow truck owner I completely respect the hustle and hard work that goes into all this! I know how muck work it is! Keep Grinding brother!
Great video. I retired from trucking almost 2 years ago after 44 years and you are right. People don't see big trucks or plain trucks. I loved it too, but on the east coast, Long Island NY, traffic is out of control and people drive like they are being chased by zombies. I am glad I am done.
Probably my favorite video! I’m a owner operator of a demolition dumpster company and a lot of our life is moving equipment. I can relate to everything your talking about and it’s nice to hear the voiceover of what you think of situations. Need to upgrade your strobe lights on the t800 the little light on the visor kills me lol
My husband & sons love your channel. As do I.(the wife & mama) I like the day in my life type ones. But the videography, the voice over, etc is perfection! Keep up the great work!
Watching what you and the guys do on the daily really makes me miss driving rigs. That was truly the happiest I ever was. Thanks for bringing back some good memories…
@heavyDsparks that loading and unloading via the side is widely used here in the Netherlands if the material is suitable for it. Often special ramps are used to make it a bit easier.
Look into Trail King Trailers, that's what my guys all use which are fully hydraulic. They special order each one, all get ordered without Honda Hydraulic booster motor because all their tractors have a PTO driven wet kits. Now when they order their Pete's, they can get split fuel tanks where one tank on one side gets its front half separated for fuel and back half is designed for hydraulic fluid for all of their trailers they run. This makes for a really clean look and keeps friends from borrowing trailers.
I love watching y'all work no one gets pissy and y'all know how to have fun if I was younger I'd love to work with you all you all have respect for each other nice to see
as someone who uses a low boy every day, let the air out of the truck suspension before you detach. you will line up easer if the truck isnt moving up and down.

I think you all work great together and how you explain everything in detail as you go really love how you guys just showed a normal day in your lives!!! I absolutely really enjoy your content but all the beautiful scenery that you all get in your videos is awesome thanks....🤙
I can't tell by the video, but most drivers place a 4x4 board underneath the lowboy gooseneck before separating from the trailer deck. That keeps the gooseneck from dragging the ground. Also the boards used for the outriggers are too long. They jump in the air when equipment is being loaded because they extend about a foot past the outrigger. That is simple pendulum action. Shorten the board to where it is barely longer than the outrigger. No charge.
I love seeing this content as a truck driver myself. I loved hauling wild stuff in the Army. Now I just haul dry vans which is not nearly as fun. I would love to get into commercial oversize.
Good for you! It’s not everyday you find someone that loves what they do. Heck I’d love to do what you do! Loved this style of video, it was definitely a nice change of pace.
By far the best video and now my new favorite. i just hope you have tons of young fans watching just so they can see. You can love what you do even if it's HARD WORK...

I grew up in trucking and been around semis my whole life. I have never felt amazement about what has always been my life. I didn't understand my wife's amazement watching me throw a 70' truck around like it was a Fiat 500. I she finally explained it to me. Before we got together, the closest she got to trucking was dating a guy that fueled planes at the airport. She, as most people do, see semis as gigantic unyielding things, where I see this as just another vehicle that I will put exactly where I want it to be.
@HeavyDSparks this is absolutely the best video out of ALL of them, including your big show on TV. Thank you for this vid, please bring more like this. It touches on a whole new level.

I totally agree about how beautiful Utah is. I live in Wisconsin and last year was the first time I visited Utah. Been back 4 times since then. Moab, the Arches, Bryce Canyon and my favorite place is Zion. Definitely a beautiful state!
Thank you for posting this video, from an ex trucker, just have a retinah lift means I am semi blind in me right eye. Feels great watching video about trucks
Again, the quality at which your videos are done to are super impressive. Always gives off so much 'breaking bad' vibes in some of the camera angles and filters. Absolutely love it
I have to agree with you about your state being beautiful, I’ve been trucking in the mountains of western Canada the last 5 years and just started a new run from Alberta down to Utah and back and I’m so in awe with the beautiful views Utah has to offer that I have to remind myself to pay attention to the road.
Wonder if you could take a piece of metal flat bar, just wider then those add on boards for the lowboy.. get some holes in it to act as points to hook chains/etc too - to help hold those add on boards down when your pulling on big items that might make those boards "pop" up like that.. just something to hold em flat long enough to get the weight on properly. could be easy fabrication item - just some 1/4 or so flat plate, hole's on either end and some kind of ratching system/chains to hold the bar which holds the wood down to prevent the wood popping up and risk falling off..
Absolutely loved this video! Thanks for bringing us a little deeper into the world you have created for yourself and generously share with the rest of us..
My father did body work all his life. We fabricated some unreal racecars and some unreal muscle cars. My dad always said it's all hard work and materials. People see a finished car at a car show and think.. they just appear. Most people think you just buy an old car. I totally get your monday. I have experienced a thousand body shop mondays. It's not glamour work.... its just work. The end product is always awesome, but few people understand how hard it is to get there.
I don't know if I observed something what colud cause the problem with the diferential (I'm not a truck driver at all). @5:34 when you leaving the depo the wheels are moving together like the differential is locked! I don't know if this is normal in the truck world but I know that this is why it's called differential, it can rotate the wheels with different rpm (slower inside, faster outside) and I also heard that is not good for the differential if is locked for long term because it can cause overheating and damage for it. I don't know if my observations are correct, I just saw something and I wanted to help! Your contents are great, I meet your chanel a few months ago and I already wached 80% of all the videos! 💪🏽💪🏽😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Been involved in trucking since I was young.
Love that you appreciate the classics. Keep up the good work bud
The donor truck is by far my favorite style of truck I've ever enjoyed seeing on the road.
It was nice to get to see a get things caught up video day. Stay safe and blessings from Proctor Minnesota!
As far as the troublesome goose neck, buy a wireless back up camera, put the camera on the goose neck so you can see the slot. 👍👍🍻🇨🇦
Yeh I know I am over a Month behind in my videos. But I love the integrity of you and the guys on your team. I enjoy your videos and the dedication you all put into the jobs you do.
I love the voiceover. It brings so much to the story ur telling!! These days that we do these things are in my opinion one of the best!! Well next to doing things with your Family!! Give me time to think & meditate. Things become clearer to me!! Thanks for Always taking us along for the scenery!! It’s Beautiful!!
Left and right and left and right. Same thing I do with my eyes when pulling equipment. Sometimes I’m in the mirrors more than the road ahead.
Dave and the whole crew been following you for awhile now the passion that you have for your job and the leadership not many have it like you bro and your guys....
I’ve said it before, but you guys have raised the bar on production quality. The content is cool by itself but y’all take it two steps higher.
I feel ya on the "alone with your thoughts", 35 year veteran trucker here, approximately 4.5 million career miles....
I've pulled just about every trailer you can name and have driven trucks with duplex and triplex transmissions....
Thank you HeavyD for sharing your experience and adventures with us.
Shout out to your videographers! I forgot I was watching a UA-cam video. The cut, grade and 2:35 was perfecto. Well done guys!
You had me at Buttercup's Ford Ranger!!!; )🫠😅🤣😂
I would have cried and been scared that the drone was damaged, jeepers! You do so much for others, it’s unbelievable how much you accomplish. You’re inspiring ❤I love watching you and Diesel D
out of all the cool stuff and crazy vids you make, these vids are my favorite seeing day to day things and just living life....
Just can't do it alone.
A good team keeps the wheels rolling.
Safety first then the fun begins.
And kudos to those behind the scenes as well.
Without them the story would never be known.
I know all this from personal experience!
Thanks again for sharing another good one. -Bman
Hell yea brother, you are definitely living your dream, love every moment of all your videos, you and your crew have great focus, makes your videos even better 😎
I totally agree about how beautiful Utah is. I live in Wisconsin and last year was the first time I visited Utah. Been back 4 times since then. Moab, the Arches, Bryce Canyon and my favorite place is Zion. Definitely a beautiful state!
I loved the different style. With the voiceover it was a relaxing video.
I really really enjoyed this, thanks to you and the team.
Absolutely love it
I have to agree with you about your state being beautiful, I’ve been trucking in the mountains of western Canada the last 5 years and just started a new run from Alberta down to Utah and back and I’m so in awe with the beautiful views Utah has to offer that I have to remind myself to pay attention to the road.
audio and soundtrack is ON POINT. quite the editors on these videos. HIGH QUALITY BABY
Your vlogs make it look rather fun! Truck driving. Heavy equitment. Army surplus. Recoverys.
man..this is real poetry..you have mastered the thing to its peak..incredible movie..
love watching you and your crew like a big family and seeing a day in your life how humble and caring x🥰😀
“Oh lord it so hard to be humble when you’re perfect in every way”
I just listened to that song on cassette tape a week ago
Thank you for taking us along with you all
Love this channel, feels like it naturally pushes you to be just as great.
You guys doing great job so keep it up!
Enjoyed the mellow pace of this video. Thank you!
Great video. I loved my job as well before i was taken out by extra fat in my lower spine causing pinched nerves. I fixed hot tubs up here in the Puget sound for 17 years and LOVED the hell out of it.
Ya it is a grate video the fact you enjoy what you do is always a plus thats when a job turns into a carreer. Something barly anyone reaches. The music was top notch and the whole video really opens youre eyes to what you could miss.
Dude I said this when you 1st. put this idea out there to your followers, "the everyday lift with Heavy D". Man you did it! i love that you are so into doing this. it makes your videos top notch man! thank you again for the awesome videos!!! keep it going!
Your filming is top of its game this was like watching a documentary. this is probably one of your best videos. cant wait for you to come see a BlackFly
need some oversize load mirror extensions for seeing down the side.
I also had 8 inch wide ange mirrors on the front of the hood. this also helps in turns
Thanks for that. Very well done. Reminds me of my youth on the farm, ALWAYS something that needed to be done.
Love this video and your day to day work life. Makes me miss my Military life. Like you said. Everyday is something new and different adventure.
Love your work Dave, and Dave, and crew. Excellent. Gooday from Australia.
