I've been hearing about the Gina Curl as of late and I finally got to see what it is. Glad you found out what was causing breakage with your hair. Heavy creams loaded with oils and butters could be the culprit. Since you have the Gina Curl, you might not even need to use those kinds of products. Sounds like a gel would be enough. Your hair is lovely, Amanda! Thanks for sharing the retouch, it was informative!
I LOVE your updates! I’ve had the Ginacurl for almost a year now.. my 3rd retouch coming up soon, and I still enjoyed watching your process! What I do to help cope with my new growth is after month 4, I do protective styling like braids for two months.. I find that my hair grows a lot more tolerable without having to style my hair all the time. And the added hair growth for the extra 2 months is a plus!
@@emelynejackson1514 hey! Thanks so the advice!! Haha I may have to rock some protective styles towards the end or at least do like a braid out or something lol. And oh sweet! Always looking for new products. Thanks!
These videos and comments are super helpful. I’m just battling with the price, and seeing credible sources that this is the same as the traditional curly perms. I guess the difference really (at least to the initial application- because I hear Gina is careful with the retouch but as all stylist should be…) is the “advertised care” of the hair that Gina markets, which all stylist again should already be providing. I’m thoroughly confused 😂 😅😫 but you make me want to phone Gina every time I see your videos! Your hair looks great and like how much you’re enjoying it!
i don't want to get a gina curl, but you just made me realize that there's products i might be using that have increased my shedding despite them being moisturizing and softening on my hair strands.... i might have to explore what those are, because im basic af, LOC method, plaits.. and go about my life.
Did anyone remember "the inovation dry curl in the 80s..thats what the Gina curl looks like but the difference is way more shinier..yup wanted that inovation dry curl really badly at that time👍💢💢💢💥

Omg! I can’t believe how great how this 2nd time turned out! Fingers crossed my GC turns out as cute as yours! Keep giving us all that positive energy and personality with the next uploads 😉❤️
First of all, thank you for giving the best explanation about the GinaCurl product. I am not sure if someone has already asked already? When you went back for the touch-up, do they put the curl product on the whole strand or just the new growth? Can you dye your hair? If you decide Gina curl isn't working for you, can you just get a perm or do you have to go for the Michael Jordan? (Cut it all off.) Also, the price is not that bad. People you say that about the price of my micro-braids. If you add up how much you would spend with natural hair, or relaxed hair, going to the salon. In the end, the price evens out. Especially if you have thick natural hair, a dime size of the product does not work. Natural hair products are not cheap. To see you use a small amount in your wash day has swayed me to think hard about getting a GinaCurl.
Hey there! They put the chemical on the new growth and a protective cream on the already processed hair. If you decide you don’t like it, you can do the straight variation, which looks kind of like a perm. But you couldn’t get a regular relaxer! I think at that point your hair would go for the Michael Jordan on its own 🤣
You’re hair looks great! 🥰 And I love your outfit! I got my Gina Curl about a month ago in Virginia at Xquisite Hair Design with certified stylist Ms Gladys and I absolutely LOVE IT! 😍Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
I love your hair , I want to get the Gina curl done but I’m trying to save up my money 💴. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it done this summer . Thank you for all your information and tips it really helps me learn .
I’m curious as to why it takes eight hours to get the GC? Is there a video you can recommend that I can view to understand what is being done to take EIGHT hours ... thanks. Luv your videos ... new subbie.
You start out with a wash. Then it takes a while to process the chemical then roll up the hair (the sections are really small). Then you dry for like 2-3 hours. Then there’s a neutralizer step and then washing and styling and diffusing. Try watching my first GinaCurl video. It shows a bit more of the process. Thanks for watching and for subscribing, love!!
At the roots, the hair still looks very 4B/4C …a braid/twist out could’ve gave the same look, it not better 6:44 Is activator recommended to use on these curls?

Hey Alison! So excited for you. You’re gonna love it!! Check out the Certified Stylists page on the Hair’s Talent website! All the people that have completed the course are listed there
I want a Gina curl, im tryna serve you Lloyd lol I’ve been getting texturizers since high school though and I’ve noticed I couldn’t use the heavy rich products I had to use like garnier fructis type stuff, at least whenever my hair was texturized. What I’ve noticed about the Gina curl though is that the longer your hair when you initially go in kinda gives better the results and longevity, and helps disguise the new growth period a little more I think because of the weight of the hair it helps it stretch/hang
The Ginacurl breaks down the keratin in the hair right? To change the bond of the curl, so the carols daughter coil moisturizer must have been rich in protein in order for your hair to break at the line of demarcation. So we need to use products that don’t have things like biotin, or protein right?
@@amandaday & @veggieguurl Avoid things with coconut, even if it's just coconut water. It will act like protein in your hair (it does to my natural hair, so I can imagine it's worse with the chemical process.) Just stick to moisturizing additives.
A Jheri Curl looks so much different than Amanda's hair. I was raised in the era of the Jheri Curl and I don't recall anyone's hair looking like Amanda's. The question is does she have to apply Jheri Curl juice/moisturizer every day and sleep with a plastic cap to keep the hair moist? This was a must to keep the hair from drying out back in the day. If she has to do that, then I'd say it's nothing more than a Jheri Curl. It looks like she doesn't need to do that, so I believe Gina Curl might be/could be a little different, 🤷🏾♀️ but not much. However, the Gina Curl technique looks similar to a Jheri Curl (curly hair textures loosened) and a Permanent Wave (straight hair curly), but the way she's caring for it is different from a Jheri Curl. I guess it's a matter of how both the Jheri Curl and Gina Curl are cared for because from what I'm seeing/hearing from Amanda in this video is that the care is a little different, which makes me think Gina Curl is possibly doing something a little different. No person with a Jheri Curl that I knew, used curl creams or some kind of creamy moisturizer, it was always something in a bottle and usually a more liquidy product. With a Jheri Curl, the hair is straightened first, then set on permanent wave rollers, which appears to be happening in this video. I think what Gina is doing differently is probably cutting the processing time in each step she does and/or using products at a lower strength(for straightening). However, what she's doing is similar to a Jheri Curl application.🤷🏾♀️ I didn't mean to write a book 🤫 but just sharing what I think is going on as someone who has a background in hair.

Great question. They only put chemical on the new growth. On the already processed hair, they put a white “protection” cream so it doesn’t get processed again. That’s why you can see a horizontal white line where the two types of cream meet :)
