I am 40 years old too, it took awhile to get used to Tabatha back in the day but I have to admit I love her just as much as the original. She is hilarious and I have wonderful memories of laughing my socks off.
Had to laugh at "Quiet place, this" given how Sally and the other heroines only ever meet two people wherever they go! It's good to be watching T. Bag again. After finishing the Tallulah episodes I took a bit of a break from it which went on longer than intended.
VideotapeFTW, do you know who did the “to be continued”, the “find out, now!!!!!” narrative bit at the beginning and the ending of almost all the episodes in the series? The male voice. And I’ve noticed from the watching these when they were first uploaded that from series 6 and series 7 and to 8 and 9 I think, I noticed how there’s a lot of the “to be continued” segments at the end of the episodes and how they have the short recaps at the beginning as if that was a permanent change they decided on especially with how John Hasler had his recaps and “to be continued” segments in t bag and the rings of Olympus. And I’ve noticed that Georgina Hale’s voice as T bag starts off quite a bit progressive at the beginning because of how it sounds but that she’s just getting used to acting in the particular role as T Bag even though she still acts well and quite okay I think and she sounds a bit too posh at times and very London like but that could be because of her playing another character in one of her disguises in costume. Also, when T Bag talks about “dead dog hill”, the place is also mentioned in episode 6 of T Bag Strikes Again with Debbie.
I really should know the answer to that, but I'm afraid it's just not coming to mind -sorry. I believe that Georgina hadn't really decided what sort of voice to do for T-Bag and sort of just fell into the one she settled on. She made it work, though.
I'm going to find it so gruelling to get through the rest of the episodes now that the absolutely fantastic Elizabeth Estensen has been replaced by the atrocious Georgina Hale. I couldn't stand her appalling acting as a child, and my opinion hasn't changed as an adult. I switched off at this point when it originally aired. How on earth did this terrible atrocity get the part? She's absolutely shocking- in the worst possible way.
To be fair, it took Georgina a while to 'find' the part in series six, but I still say that series seven and eight are well worth watching. The one thing you've got to do, though, is keep in mind that she's Tabatha and not trying to be Tallulah - they're completely different characters, and can be enjoyed in very different ways.
I understand what you are saying- I did drama at school, Performing Arts at college, and did theatre for many years. :) I used to perform improvisations with my best friend at school out on the green outside her house for all the neighbourhood kids as well. Great memories. That's my passion, and I have always loved it :) You mustn't get me mistaken with someone who thinks the new actress should be exactly like the last lady and play the same part. I totally appreciate that- everyone brings something different to the table by being unique. I just really don't fare well with her acting style or her anything regarding taking on a role. I also can't stand her needless desire to make every sentence as nasal as possible and draw out her words as long as can be. She comes across as an awkward woman trying desperately to convince the viewing public that she is this incredible T-Bag character. Unfortunately, she is just embarrassing; and it's so disappointing.
That's fair enough comment, and whoever replaced Elizabeth Estensen was always going to be disappointing one way or the other. In many ways it's Kellie Bright who makes this one worth watching, and I assure you things get better later on. :-)
I just can't stand Georgina Hale. She completely ruined this otherwise brilliant kid's programme for me back in the day- and as a 40 year old, I understand why my young teenage self thought that. My opinion hasn't changed. I'm still me :(
I loved both actresses playing the part. Georgina Hale was brilliant! I remember loving her as a kid and now rewatching I appreciate the character more! Yes very dramatic acting and over the top but that's the whole point, she's hilarious and her antics actually are the highlight of the show!
The whiny voice and lisp just grates through you, the only good thing it gave John a chance to shine brighter I always thought Elizabeth put him in the shade and now he had the chance to come out of his shell.
Georgina Hale was just too OTT for me. Elizabeth Estensen was far better, it's a shame she left the series. Still a least they replaced the character and the actor rather than just give T-Bag 'head replacement syndrome'
Yeah, I always preferred Elizabeth Estensen as T-Bag, personally. Like you say, though, at least Georgina Hale was playing a completely different character so they could make the show work a different way.
