You’re the one who inspired me to start winter sowing. Last year I started it mid February. Considering how I’m suffering from garden deprivation disorder perhaps I should start sooner. 🌼
This was a perfect find. I spent the day starting quite a few of these. I have been a gardener for years but I’m upping my flower game. I lost my mom last September and one of my journeys I’m recording here on UA-cam is a memorial flower garden. She was an amazing gardener and kinda had a secret garden jungle-style. Learned a lot I appreciate this.
I loved this video so much I made a little list in Google sheets of what flowers I can sow in January...(I'm in Atlanta). Great guide. Can't wait for more 🌷🌸🌹🌺🌻🌼💐🎍
I really appreciate your videos! My seed order just arrived today and I'm so excited, but now after seeing your varieties I feel like I should have gotten even more. I'm so excited to see how yours progress throughout the season!
@@TONYAwiththeflowers same here! I just filmed a 2021 seed haul- the only thing I'm still ordering is a couple things from Floret when they open up, but I've already ordered and received my seeds from Bakercreek, MIGardener, Swallowtail Garden Seeds, & Johnny's! 🤣 I ordered early this year since I didn't what the seed stocks are going to look like next year... I went a little overboard, but in my defense, I usually bought seeds from my local garden centers & grocery stores, & they were the really common, boring varieties of things, & I hadn't purchased seeds in I think over 7 years. So most of my seeds were quite old! & I hadn't done a whole lot of seed saving in the last couple years since having my little miracle baby... So I feel as if its justified!
Oops nevermind I listen to the whole thing again and I must have been distracted when you talk about planting in April LOL. Thanks for all the great gardening help and especially with flowers and the cool seasons
Marshmallow is a perennial and comes back nicely each year.. mine are 4 ft tall.. Elecampane is another nice perennial in the sunflower family and is good for winter sowing..
Exciting!!! I'm going to try snapdragons this year too ... I have several volunteers that come up each year, so surely they must be doable to grow from seed!
Hey, can you please post a vid showing how and where you are going to sow these seeds. I’m about to start this weekend. I think it’s fairly simple, but this is a first time for me. I also built a greenhouse out of two 10x2O car ports (thought it was going to fly away last weekend, yay ratchet straps!) and would like to see how you start seedlings in a structure. For example: Do use a heatpad?Do you cover the seeds for additional moisture retention until they sprout (in a covered structure)? Much appreciated! Great vid BTW!
I just finished reading (on Kindle) Cool Flowers by Lisa Mason Ziegler. Lots of good info. She stated she uses heat mats. I have some mats, but I was going to use them in the unheated hoophouse. Now I’m wondering if it will be to cold (30 to 50 degrees as of late, TN Zone 7(b)) to do so? Does it matter for seed germination if the air is cooler than the soil temp? Also, will it be an issue if the hoophouse gets too hot when the sun come out? Any help is appreciated!
Yes, you can definitely use the outdoor winter sowing method for early bachelor's buttons. I have a video called "the complete winter sowing guide" that might be helpful. Thanks!
Great video! Thank you! What kind of soil do you use to start your plants? I was going to use seed starting mix, but I have noticed that a lot of folks use potting soil.
I've used both in the past. I usually just use potting soil because it's the most readily available. Finding seed starting mix where I live can be expensive. Both seem to work well.
Very informational, I really never thought about the flowers that should actually be planted while it's a bit cooler out, here in Maryland...on the shore...my usual plant time is pretty much like yours, we generally go by Mother's day here for last frost, but it's been creeping up sooner, shame climate change is a bad thing. Don't know about your winter this yr, but so far ours has been nonexistent.
@@TONYAwiththeflowers I seen this morning Laura @Garden Answer hopes to grow Lisianthus from seed, I shared your video in my comment over there, hope you get some views from it.!!
I have used cilantro in bouquets...I don't recommend it. It sheds a lot. And your bouquet smells like Mexican food. I love Mexican food and it's smell, but it is weird coming from a vase.

I'm excited to start, too! Happy gardening!

Thanks so much for watching! :)
Cool, getting ready to start some myself over the few weeks - coneflowers, snapdragons, daisies, black eyed susan, maybe even try strawberries.

Nice video
What about bachelors buttons. It says to sow directly but can I get a jumpstart on them by winter sowing them inside then planting before last frost?
Yes, you can definitely use the outdoor winter sowing method for early bachelor's buttons. I have a video called "the complete winter sowing guide" that might be helpful. Thanks!

This winter has been SO WEIRD. I've got flowers blooming in the hoophouse. They definitely should not be blooming! Lol!

That's so kind of you! I love garden answer, but also know my garden will never look that beautiful! Lol!
@@TONYAwiththeflowers I hear ya, they do have a beautiful property, and help.

Is she indoor sowing these seeds? 🧐 im new to gardening so I may have missed it.
