    My Australian friend you are very creative. Your wax method is a killer. 3 years with the same chains, that was an unheard of for me. Greetings from Spain

    Nice one mate. Being one of the fussiest people going when it comes to bike setup this is certainly a great idea.

    I was searching for this info for a while (the position of the bones on the saddle to use as a reference for a new saddle)! Thank you super much! Greetings from Portugal

    This makes me want to restore and old bike. I;m 68 and have been riding over 50 years. And as most always try to keep up with technology. But as I look back are we really faster or do we just ride different. I've got to go E-Bay is calling my name. Rick D.

    That saddle looks like it was mounted beyond the "max" markers. Might be time for an inline seatpost? Great video - fantastic bit of kit!

    Hello from Melbourne. Your videos are very good especially the DIY tools. Recently picked up a 2nd hand road bike after years of riding MTB. What have I been missing...it’s a totally different dynamic vs MTB riding. Should’ve got a road bike years ago.

    Ended up with a mountain bike with nice suspension and city tires. Its heavier but has a dropper seat post and its super comfortable and get to sit upright.

    2nd Comment: Awesome Bike Fit Tool you devised btw. Another Genius Invention of yours. At 20:25 you should soak that Anvil-Vice in a Plastic Bucket with a Gallon of ‘Evapo-Rust’. Not sure about Australia but here in the US you can find it for less than $25/Gallon Jug or less than $80/5 Gallon Bucket. You can strain it after and reuse it a few times before it’s strength wears out. Works GREAT on All the Bike’s Steel Nuts, Bolts, springs, Cassette Cogs and even Cables and Bike Chains so long as you Degrease them 1st.

    Fascinating as ever. This sort of tool is ideal for me because I'm a micro adjuster. If you moved my saddle by 1mm or 2mm behind my back I could tell you instantly.

    • @stevenleffanue
      @stevenleffanue  3 роки тому

      Exactly Andrew. 1mm is quite a bit when you have been riding for quite some time and found your good position.

  • @diederik7645

    The tool at 6:00 doesn't take seat tube angle into account. If you use this tool on two bikes with different STA, the handlebar needs to end up lower and further from the BB if the STA is steeper.

  • @madpeddler8263
    @madpeddler8263 3 роки тому

    I always measure the top of the seat with the crank arm positioned in line with the seat tube, starting from the top of the pedal axle with the arm at the lowest point. This takes into account any variation in crank arm length should I use a rental bike.

    I have found the key to replicating your position from one bike to another is having the same seat. It is so much more easily repeatable.

    How can you fit a 20mm PVC Coupling over a 19mm square rod when the diagonal dimension of the rod >25mm?

    Thanks Steve for usefull informations as always, i'm bikefitting myself nonstop, looking for ideal fit. But one thing is still not clear for me, how to measure tilt at wavy saddle? (at back and nose, middle - nose...)

    • @stevenleffanue
      @stevenleffanue  3 роки тому

      The tilt is subject to how you sit on the seat. Try tilting forwards n back to get ideal position. If you cant find it the seat isnt for you.

    • @diederik7645
      @diederik7645 3 роки тому

      How the body interacts with the saddle will be different for each tilt. The same goes for where you sit on the saddle probably. But that is alright and part of the proces to find out what works for you. To document different tilt angles try using the bubble level app placed on a kitchen cutting board placed on the saddle. By resting the cutting board on the two maxima of the saddle it will always rest on the same spots, the app now gives the mean tilt. I use this on my SMP Dynamic saddles, which is very wavy.

    My Sit Bones are 126mm wide if you can BELIEVE That! I’m a 51 y/o, 192 cm, 102 kg. American Sasquatch! (You get REAL good at Truing and Tensioning Wheels with my Stature, at Least 32/28 Spokes Minimum). I prefer at Least 20mm Saddle Meat on each side of my Sit Bones. Any Saddle Less than 160mm Wide doesn’t bode well on Mi-Bum. FINDING any Decent Road Saddle OVER 155mm Wide ... GOOD LUCK ... unless it’s a Brooks. Any Leads on a Decent sub $40 Road Saddle in the 160-170mm Wide Range? At least semi firm with a Gonad Cutout preferably. From “Chiiine-ahh” is ok. Our new “President” is Super Friendly with them.

      You have to build up your tolerance, doesn't matter age. Start off with short rides or on a trainer and gradually increase. You body will adapt to it. Good luck.
