    I am from Buffalo and know Andrew personally, it turns out we even graduated from the same high school. I now own five pairs of Parkhurst boots, all totally unique, which I wear for different occasions. I can honestly say the build, attention to detail, comfort, and fit is bar none, and I own several pairs of high end boots by other brands. Andrew is unique because he is a grass roots guy who will meet you at the local cobbler with a couple pairs of his boots to try on while taking the time to engage in light hearted conversation about boot culture. I honestly admire Andrew because he doesn't come across as a businessman at all, just an everyday guy who had a vision of how to make a great pair of boots at an affordable price, and then saw it through to fruition. I am happy for him that his company survived the local shutdowns after COVID and he was able to keep his company afloat so that he could come back with a vengeance with the beautiful line up of spanish sourced leathers he offers today. Well done Andrew, Buffalo applauds you.

    Great insight on both companies. Thank you for making this video. I have to say that you sir, hold a very coherent and cursive monolog. You have very well articulated ideas and present your arguments in a very logical manner. You sound like an intelligent individual. It is a pleasure to hear your talk.

    Both brands are well constructed and will last for years if looked after properly. For me they compete in the same segment of the smarter casual boot, and both experiment with different leathers. I have a 9.5E Brannock sizing and the Grant Stone in 9E fit perfectly with medium/thin socks and 8.5EEE with thick socks. The Parkhurst only come in D width, so on their advice I went for a 9.5D and it fits perfectly with medium/thin socks. Basically I look for new leathers that interest me and buy from either brand happily.

    • @xaerovette
      @xaerovette 2 роки тому

      I have the same brannock. I also wear 9.0E in grant stones and could also do 8.5EEE though the heel isn’t as secure, but couldn’t do the Parkhurst 602 in 9.5D without having extremely painful pinky toes.

    • @SilkStorm_101
      @SilkStorm_101 2 роки тому

      @@xaerovette Its going to depend on whether you have a high instep as well which is going to pull the leather in tighter around your foot. I have found that Brannock alone is an indicator but not accurate by itself, some lasts have a low instep like parkhurst which effectively make them feel narrow on a high volume foot. At least this is my experience so far.

    I love your boot reviews, but I especially appreciate your insight on the economic aspects of boot making in this video. Due to your background as a business consultant, you are able to offer a perspective that other boot reviews are unable to provide. I own 2 pair of Grant Stone and the Brass boot fits my foot perfectly. The quality and materials are outstanding.

    Aesthetics aside. It all comes down to the last. The Parkhurst 602 last makes it the best fitting boot I've ever worn. Years of martial arts widened my forefoot but kept my heels "normal." The Parkhurst shift from D heel to E forefoot is not only perfect, but it also aligns with the natural spreading of the foot when it makes contact with the ground.

    May I ask if my leather boots are suitable for snowy weather? While I have no intentions to get these boots soaked or wet in rain or snow, I want to know if I can wear them in snow.
    For me, stepping on snow does not worry me as I assume the leather sole should be ok, but sometimes streets and sidewalks are treated with snowmelt, which may be bad for the boots.

    • @Bootlosophy
      @Bootlosophy  7 місяців тому +1

      In context, there’s no snow in Australia, but from what I know you won’t damage them. Just dry naturally before wearing again. Leather soles are not exactly grippy in snow though!

    I’m fortunate enough to own both brands too but for me the decision factor was the last. I very narrow feet, my left foot is a 10b and my right foot is a 10c. I also have low arches and thus have low volume feet. As a result, I’m ideally a 9c but I can fit into an 8.5D from grant stone but 8.5D from the old Parkhurst last is a little too short so I reach for my grant stones a lot more. That being said, they are both amazing boots.

    For those that try to buy American this is tough. For me I try to buy USA as much as I can but obviously that’s impossible. All my clothes are USA made.
    However there’s definitely a bias towards made in China because of the thinking it’s not good quality and mass produced. But you make a good point it’s what the entity demands in production, quality and QC.
