Tapping out with Counterspell in hand then losing to Mind Twist. And could have instead taken 2 more dmg to Psi blast in end step. LOL. I actually played with a decent amount of these cards back in the day. Mind Twist was a real dream crusher. Despite being a $4 card amongst $4000 cards, it decided 2 of the 3 games here.
@@LucMTG-g5wI like the idea but for me lately I get the feeling it’s already so light on creatures that I want o add more instead of cutting. Great games and all the best for 2025 with CB 😊
Yeah, looking back I could have done that differently. In my defense, this was my first time on stream and in the semi finals. I am playing oldschool for 1-2 years now, and learning allot. Especially from tournaments like these. @ Timmy, thank you for making this great content. And for the sea men crew, thank you guys for organizing such an awesome tournament.
Ive always wondered- how does one even get into Old School at this point if they don't have access to the older cards? The Power 9 alone is a small fortune, and if you need to have the original cards, it seems like a wealthy person's hobby to participate in.
As someone on a fixed budget I've had this similar issue trying to regrow my OS collection. There's fortunately many decks you can play that don't need Power and Dual Lands, are they nice to have, of course, but not technically needed. That said if you're looking for a budget way to get into OS I recommend looking into Revised, 4th Edition, and Chronicles as the prices on those cards are, for the most part, reasonable. This of course locks you into PAC, EC, and ATL formats which have an open reprint policy, but those are also the most accessible ones.
@@joshuagannon6566 I gutted my collection of cards from 95-98 ages ago, so formats with reprint policies are always welcome for me. Only old set I have decent access to is Fallen Empires, because I loved the lore and bought a full set for $30 in 2001.
It’s possible to play on a budget. It’s still gonna cost a few hundred dollars but not thousands. Mono Red, Mono Black, and Mono Green are fairly inexpensive decks to make and they can compete. Mono Green especially is good in old school.
I’ve been playing a ton of x 7 points singleton recently and that is a super fun, cheap and relaxed format to see a diverse card pool and it’s very inexpensive. The Xpoints in general is very rewarding.

Great match, 2 good players… love the scoop at the end
21:51 “Revenge is a dish best served cold”…old Klingon proverb.
This is crazy! I love it! Makes me want to play some OS MTG again. I miss those days. I've been so into Commander, though.
Those Sea Man coasters are hilarious. 😂
They should have a box of tissues nearby as a courtesy.
Great video, thank you Timmy 👍🏼
🙌
That was a fun match to watch. Especially game 2.
Thanks 🙌

MT gets really powerful when combined with Moxen and the might Lotus 🪷
Compared to the most recent lists Luc shaved the 2 orcs for an additional Island and the 4th psi blast
Yeah so true. The extra Island gives me 6 Islands in total, so when Blood Moon is in play I hopefully still have access to blue spells.

Legend has it that Psionic Blast originally costed 2UU, but the son of a designer felt it was a bad card.
The flies want in on the action!
Very true 😂
If you could add one modern card up to Apocalypse to counter burn, what would you add?
WOW, what a terrible psi blast game 1.

Whoa, no kidding. Really a baffling decision. I see Luc's comment hear about first time stream. I guess it was nerves then?
Alao surprises he surrendered after the mind twist
Sorry, I wrote that when I misunderstood the accent of the narrator. "Serendib" sounded like "surrender"
Love the Shandalar techno song between the matches. Can it be found on internet?
No, it’s a remix especially made for the channel 🪩
I thought about it and if you play in a store you should spend €5 min a week €7 is perfect

My budget mono blue deck does well at os events (usually goes 50/50) and contains 0 duals or power cards 💪🏻
