    Ronnie's mother abandoned him for drugs. I believe that is one of the reasons he really related to this and why he belts out, "It all started when I lost my MOTHER, NO love for myself and no love for ANOTHER!"...
    To me the songs represent different stages of grief... Original - anxiety/anger/bitterness. This version is despair/heartache/paranoia.

      Poor guy. No matter how old you get that never leaves you. That's what I've been thinking since I listened to the song was different stages of grief. the despair and desperation all emoted so perfectly and sincerely. Truly a wonderous, beautiful and so tragic. It hit me very hard and I can only imagine what someone going through it themselves must feel. My heart goes to those that can relate to this. Much love to you❤️

      Wow Watch The World Burn fits perfectly in that perspective. Because first we got anger. And then we enter the gray city almost like it's covered with ashes after it was burned.

    It’s amazing how many reactions I’ve come across of this song where the reactors, and even myself included, weren’t aware of the lyrics and meaning of the original song. So many end up saying, “is that what this song is about?”.
    The original version was dominated by that chunky, distorted guitar and punchy drums that just wanted to make you move. The lyrics always just went over my head until hearing them in Ronnie’s vocal. He’s completely transformed the song and given us the true meaning that we missed as agitated teenagers.

  • @KrisThroughGlass
    @KrisThroughGlass 6 місяців тому +22

    Great reaction. I've never been much into the original, but I love this version.
    Ronnie carries so much emotions in his voice. This was almost a one take recording and only meant as - I forgot the English name - the first take you record for a general idea where you want to go with it. They liked it, that they kept it. I'm sure Ronnie can relate to the lyrics a lot since he dealt with depression and was left by his mother as a baby.
    Subbed for more FiR.

    From someone who suffers from depression this song is very powerful. I can completely agree with you that it's almost like we're watching a mental break down but then the singer finally hits rock bottom and starts building themselves up. Love your reactions. If you want another really powerful song might I recommend A Reason to Fight by Disturbed.

    I live the power of music to move people like this. Also, the interpretation of a song has taken this from something you didnt like to moving you emotionally. Ronnie is beyond genius. For me, he shares so many similarities to REN. His ability to move you emotionally, his range, lack of genre specificity, his production abilities...... his stunning vocal abilities, his social commentaries through his words....... just amazing. 😊😊

    As a person who has at one point "attempted" I can say categorically that this video and song and everything about this sums up the experience. Both the point of pain and desperation, and the point of letting go of your life are visualised perfectly in this. Thank you for sharing it with your UA-cam community and spreading awareness of a topic that still seems taboo. Especially men don't vocalise their pain enough. It's ok to not be ok.

    There’s so much I love about this song and video but I especially love the contrast to watch the world burn - in that song he turned the pain and anger into destruction of everything around him. In this song he’s desperately trying to escape the pain and anger and build himself back up. And the ending also ties back to the band name, so a bit of an Easter egg - all the buildings fall back up into place. It’s a beautiful, moving masterpiece all around. I know this one was rough but I appreciate the insights you share in your reactions - it’s interesting hearing a different perspective :)

    I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this. The original came out the same year I lost my father to cancer, I was devastated because my father was my rock & I was pregnant with my daughter. I was in a dark place & this song helped me along with my daughter's father. I was skeptical about listening to Ronnie's version of this song but when I watched the video it hit me really hard & cried. I think everyone goes through depression at least once in their lives so it resonates with most people. I absolutely love his version of this song.

    • @BemusingBill
      @BemusingBill  6 місяців тому

      I love it too. Sorry to hear about your father. Wish I had a father like that. When mine passed a few years ago it was more like a joyous event. I know that sounds harsh, but he was a tyrant and mother suffered for decades. I didn't appreciate the original at the time probably because I was younger and had a different mindset and because the bands I was into at the time-TOOL, Godsmack, Disturbed, Korn, NIN, RATM- had a greater impact on me. Thank you for sharing and for watching with me. Much love to you and yours❤️

    Hello and greetings from Germany first of all! :)
    I'll be honest, there's not much western music that really impresses me anymore, I mainly listen to Japanese rock or metal, but FiR/Ronnie is one of the best and interesting discoveries for me in recent years. You can't pigeonhole him, and the 2 songs you've heard so far show perfectly that he can pull off ANY style to perfection if he wants to. Ronnie is an extraordinary artist who uses music to its fullest to express himself. And quite often he gets under your skin with it.
    Should you ever want to take a trip to the land of the rising sun to see what this beautiful landscape has to offer, check out the MV for Band-Maid 'Thrill'. I'll just say this much, don't judge the book by its cover. Musically, you might like them if you like classic rock. :)

    Thanks for another spot-on reaction. I'm quite a bit older than you, and I never really got into Papa Roach, much less this one. Now I'm going to sound like my parents here; it was just noise to me (what I called "angry young man" music). Ronnie's version brings me to tears every time, though. There's also a video on UA-cam of Ronnie showing his reimagined version to Jacoby Shaddix. It was amazing. Ronnie was so nervous. You should check it out... ua-cam.com/video/BnTDlaXxRrE/v-deo.html

      @BemusingBill  6 місяців тому +2

      I have to agree on the 'angry young man' description. Besides, Papa Roach was a very dim bulb compared to the likes of TOOL, NIN, Godsmack, Disturbed and Korn back then. What Ronnie did was genius. Thank you for the link! I'll be watching that with my coffee. Much love❤️

    I don't mean to make light because I know the emotional punch this delivers, especially the first time you hear/see it, but I giggled a bit at the cigarette comment. I used to smoke as well and the most pleasurable ones were the ones that rounded out the end of an experience----the first one in the morning after a good sleep, the last one at night after a long day, the finisher to every meal, and of course.....the other obvious *after*, lol. Like Kyle from Rykerroad says, "Ronnie doesn't just make music. He makes experiences." 100%.

    I think Ronnie gives the text the right, worthy framework. The Papa Roach version is too rocky for the seriousness of the lyrics. That's exactly what Ronnie conveys in this song, the pain and the fight with and against evil thoughts. Surely only people who have psychological problems and fight their demons every day can understand this. How often her mental world collapses and threatens to bury her. How many times do you think, “I can’t go on like this” and fight your way out, only to find again and again, “Nothing is okay.” But you keep fighting, every day. They fight with all their strength against being buried under their collapsing world. The sad thing is that too many people lose this battle, ultimately running out of strength and being buried under their collapsing world.

    Gets me every time I listen to it, since losing my mother three years ago and my best friend my rottie last year I still feel suicidal every day yet I'm supposed to be the strong one everyone thinks I am..I've since got a new rottie rescue and she's helping me through life atm.. this is the first time I've admitted it. This is why I have such an affinity with falling in reverse there lyrics are so relatable.

      I hear ya buddy, and I thank God for that rottie. The strength is inside you cause no one understands the strength it takes to go on. Listen, getting help is not a weakness or some kind of flaw. We all need help at times and it's not shameful but wise to seek it out. I've been in dark places as well and I'm grateful for the help I got. You rescued her and now she's rescued you. My thoughts and prayers are with you both my brother. Feel free to reach out if you need anything. Much love to you❤️

    When I first watched this video I had written 2 times You're fine Ronnie. I didn't know that until I went back and rewatched it again so apparently I was screaming it too. My cognitive abilities are off cuz I had 2 ruptured brain aneurysms in 2021 so sometimes I don't remember things or it could be just really good weed. 😂

      @@BemusingBill Thanks man for real! I totally get the vibe that it's a genuine prayer. Some people just say it but don't mean it. I mean it every time I say I will pray for someone. I do it on the spot. Weed just helps me cope with the world but I just don't feel like me. 51 year old when the aneurysms happened and now I don't feel like me anymore. So I just try and put out good vibes and tell my testimony.
