Brian, have you played your Legend or Soul connected to the Spin-Tone 400 ? If so, how good does it sound and how much ambient mechanical noise and also cabinet vibration (when cranked) does it produce ? What signal is present on its 1/4" outputs ? Thank-you.
@@BrianHoJazz thank you! I’d like to know how it sounds with '30, without foldback on lower octave (I usually use it on my Legend Live and I love it!) :)
do you find the noise (mechanical and wind) excessive when in high speed? I have one and am unsure if I just don't like it, or it's faulty. I also don't think it's very loud, I'm having to max keep the volume on 10.
Hi Levi. What have you been using on the audio in sensitivity? High or Low? I assume you're using the 11 pin cord? If you can tell from my video when it's on fast/slow it's not whisper quiet. That being said, when you play through it you can't tell. I usually keep the volume of the legend on 75% and the volume on the vortex is not maxed.
well I'm using the legend soul, so the manual recommends low sensitivity, and yeah, 11 pin. I find that if I'm 6ft from the amp I don't hear that mechanical noise when playing, but I suspect if you had a mic on it it's definitely going to hear it@@BrianHoJazz
@@BrianHoJazz I realize i'm reviving an old thread here, but I have now on my second Vortex 315. I returned the first because the noise was too much. Now that I've received my replacement, its basically the same problem. After watching your video, i'm realizing this is just the design of it. For a home environment I find it just WAY too loud and distracting. I love the sound, and the presets, and the editability, but I just don't think i can put up with the amount of noise, and I'm surprised more reviews don't call it out. Like @leviclay, i assumed mine was faulty but now am realizing its just the design. Any advice? Otherwise i think i am (sadly) returning it (again.)
@@ginso100 I will say that while the unit has "noise", it doesn't bother me, even at home. My vintage 122's also have a lot of noise. Before I changed the relay's in them, they would "pop" when going to slow/fast/stop. Also, one of my amps the tubes are a little "scratchy" and I have to move it around to make sure it doesn't have noise. I just recorded at a nice studio with a full band. We all had headphones on. When nothing is happening, you can really hear a slight hum/mechanical noise coming from the 122. Everybody has a different tolerance for the noise level so I understand where you're coming from. Please feel free to send me an email (on my website) l if you want to continue the conversation.
Hey Brian, my Vortex is buzzing in the low end on Preset 5 (which I also think sounds the best), bass notes and pedals create this buzz that I’m pretty sure comes from the vibration of the cabinet itself, I’m curious before I replace it, if all the units are like that or it’s a fault? Thanks
Hi there - when I increased the bass on mine, it does have that. I've heard that if you tighten up the unit with weatherstripping it will help. Something I will try.
Great Job! Sounds great! How does it compare to the Leslie 3300? Recommend one over the other? Also, I have the DeFrancesco signature organ, do you recommend the Soul over the signature brand?
Thanks! I recommend the Votex because it's very portable and it still sounds great. The Soul is a huge step up from the JDF signature organ due to the 9 contact system. It's also nice having the screen for editing, effects, etc. I should do another video comparing the two. :)
I wish Hammond would just improve the Leslie Studio 12 by cutting 15 pounds from it, add an 11-pin connector, Neo speaker, and double the power amp to 200 watts. Voila, the perfect stage Leslie.
Good song choice. My father used to go see Erroll play at The Crawford Grill in Pittsburgh in the 50's.
yes, I am interested on the bench
Email me - you can find info on my website. Www.brianho.net
Awesome...thanks for the video!

Can’t wait to get mines
You're really going to enjoy it!
Sounds good!! Which organ simulation did you use (30,50 or 70)? Thanks
Thanks! It does sound good. I'm using the 50s.

Does this work with a Hammond SKX Pro with he CU-1 switch?
I have not tried it with the CU-1 Switch. I don't own one unfortunately.
Am I behind in the new cabinets or is still not possible to connect a cabinet to an audio interface and capture the rotary effect?
Nice lines!

@@LeviClay I use the high sensitivity even though I'm using the Soul.

Geeze spread them out so they can breathe you need open air on eityer side to get full effect
This was only for video recording purposes. Totally agree!
