- In today's episode of Shoe Care Academy we will walk you through how to properly clean suede sneakers. Suede sneakers are some of the hardest to clean and as you can see in the video we had a couple hiccups.
These ALD New Balance 550's come with a light grey shaggy suede on the entire uppers with hints of cream leather and a nylon sock liner which makes the cleaning slightly more complicated.
After realizing that the pretreatment alone wasn't going to deep clean these sneakers we resorted to the Sneaker Laundry System and followed through all of the steps of this cleaning to show you that we are not perfect. There are some shoes that need a little bit of extra love; don't forget that when you're cleaning yours!

One of the guys in the shop recommended the Brass Brush to get some of the hairiness back in the suede and I've found it works pretty well. Have to be gentle!!! But I've used it on my Salehe 990v2s and some 991s that have hairy suede and it gave me some of that fluff back

Thanks for this and transparency! I see a lot of reviews on how to clean NB suede..always showing "perfect" results. And I'm sure it can be in some cases. But showing how it may not be perfect, even with your product...I respect that! Still, the before and after...great results! Love my gray 990...but damn, it sucks when you get these dirty! 😆

YO I got blood on my yeezy 500 stone. Can I use this product to specifically clean the “blood” out of suede? Blood is hard to get out in general.

So I recently picked up the palominos. They are half suede material and I can’t figure out this small stain I have in the toe cap whether it’s alcohol or water. I tried using an eraser and it did a fairly good job removing it but from an angle I can still see the slight stain. Any tips to get rid of it?

Got some oil stains on my New Balance 990v6 on the suede part and used shoe foam and tried to get rid of the oil stain. Didn’t work😢 Will the suede eraser work
The suede eraser can help or sand paper to sand off the top layer of the suede

I would say you should dry brush suede before you start scrubbing with water and cleaner so you don't push the dirt into the material. Cleaning my "sand be the time" 990v2s were a nightmare 😅

@@williamgeorge1630 I used the dry suede kit to spot clean after I tripped on something and stained the toe. Try not to use water cause it'll bleed. Now I just spray them with stain and water repellent before I go out it gets the job done

Do you guys know how to make suede match? My bad bunny campus has one toe box with a nappy long suede and the other is so short and no matter what I do with soft med hard brush, I can’t get it to match and I see zero videos how to make short suede nappy.
First, you have to clean the shoes and once it's dried then reset the nap with a soft or medium brush or dry suede brush.

Why should i wash it when it is already clean?

I don’t understand why they don’t wear gloves doing this. Who knows who’s feet were in this or where the sneakers were. Plus people spot on the floor outside and we walk on the floor. I’m sorry if I’m out of line but working in the medical field I seen to much. But I do love this product I have it and love it.

Suggests not saturating the suede. Then puts them in the washing machine twice. This is the perfect how to really ruin your shoes academy. 🤦🏼♀ Try not contradicting yourself so much.
The shoes weren't ruined at all. Cleaning suede takes time and as long as you clean it evenly it is typically fine.

Mink Oil could've helped a little, but the suede wasn't faded and it wasn't needed in this specific cleaning.
