I still like my theory that this clan has a natural ability to tap into small amounts of sage(natural)chakra like Jugo and they have a long history unknowingly studying shark sage jutsus. Hence why their body changes like an imperfect sage mode, because they haven’t perfected it.
That's something I always wondered myself...its always been part of my head cannon because I couldn't think of any other reason lore wise for him to look like a shark
what if because its a sage mode, some of them dont pass their sage training and turn to stone or something. thats why they're few in numbers as a clan.
I was gonna say something similar to this, that they took in nature energy and either they have over the generations evolved to not only this new chakra but their surroundings aswell. Or i believe they took in nature energy and purposely tried to mimic sharks over the years, due to pay homage to a possible summoning pact in the families past or just becuase they appreciate the bloodlust of sharks
Bro Kisame is by far my favourite character out of every show I have seen so far. Perfect antihero, heavy backstory, skilled swordsman and a f***ing half shark on top of all... 🦈
I love how you unintentionally explained the difference between having large Chakra and having powerful Chakra. Many people (myself included) have confused the two although the two go hand in hand
A theory that I always liked was that Kisame is a user of sage chakra, took on a shark appearance, due to heavy ties with water, vut just like Jiraiya, he wasn't the best at it and adopted animalistic features.
@@NCHammer23 that was a joke comic that he desaged and it’s just a normal looking guy. And the snake got a dangerous risk to becoming a sage maybe the shark is that you become a shark but lose your humanity in combat

I like to theorize that Samehada was a Hoshigaki from generations past, possibly a perfect shark sage. What remains of him is Sharkskin, a ravenous shark blade cursed with his spirit to mindlessly or obediently crave for chakra like an animal. Whether or not it was he who was responsible for creating the rest of the mist blades, only Sharkskin is sentient out of all of them.
Super interesting theory. It would be as if Shinobi were able to be sealed away into a sword in a similar way a tailed beast would be sealed away in person and the Chakra being able to be accessed.
What If they were shark Sages. Just naturally pulling in Senjutsu chakra without realizing it. They don't mix it properly with their massive amounts of chakra, so take on shark features.
I really wish that Boruto went a completely different direction with Shizuma than it did. I think it would have been far more interesting if instead of being violent and manipulative, and wanting to return the hidden mist to its bloody mist days, they had made Shizuma honorable and kind, and fully in support of the hidden mist reformation. They could have kept the story point of the Hoshigaki clan being discriminated against in current day, because they’re inconvenient, and tied so closely to the violent past of the hidden mist. Have Shizuma struggle against that, have his character be “I’m a Hoshigaki, that doesn’t make me a monster, and we have a place in a peaceful era.” I think that would have a far more interesting and complex story than what we got.
They did this instead with Kagura and his clan of the previous Mizukage. A kind honorable kid born to a violent family. Kagura even struggles keeping his kindness with his hidden rage in battles
I honestly think it would have been better if he was Kisame Son and admired his father to the point he wanted to emulate him and being a small child at the time mistook Kisane view in the world and had to be be taught by someone who knew Kisame personally like Mei and Chojuro and it could eventually lead him on a new path

I just figured it was kinda of the land of water's more extreme version of the Inuzuka clan. It is not like we have not seen clans with Animal Affinities before.
I always assumed that any mutation or severe body change away from human was just part of a bloodline ability, like Deidera’s hands just being a part of his explosion release manifestation
I think Samehade prefers Sage chakra, and will draw in nature energy to mix with its users shakra to get a more tastly meal. This results in the user getting exposed to a near constant and uncontrolled Shark sage mode causing them to become more sharklike over time. Exsposure and training to weild Samehada cased the Hoshigaki clan to also pull in a small amount of nature chakra making them more sharklike and continuing to grow their already massive chakra pool.
I'm still sticking with he has some connection with nature chakra/sage mode chakra control. It would change his appearance accordingly with his affinity for sharks and water release same as it did for other sage users with various perfection. His chakra reserves and sheer force are on par with someone trained in sage chakra which mirrors everyone else who has shown sage mode as well. It goes along with his personality as well that he wouldn't change his appearance to suit someone else, not by choice anyhow. However the requirements to wield Samehada are quite close to accomplishing sage mode yes? The wielders of that sword have all had the same ballpark appearance and ability thresholds tying that in with sage which changes the eyes of every user to that of their nature. And I mean, someone like him wouldn't see reason to ever fully stop pulling in nature chakra either since he literally always wants a fight so always being battle-ready explains the consistent shark-like appearance. And who's to say there isn't a place to train with the sharks in the land of water as with the toads and snakes elsewhere?
@@quentinjones6877 I've always assumed that it's a byproduct of the Demonic and blood stained nature of the swords, or the chakra within them. because not all mist ninja have teeth like that, but all of the known swordsman do.

I always assumed that any mutation or severe body change away from human was just part of a bloodline ability, like Deidera’s hands just being a part of his explosion release manifestation
Shizuma looking like Hordy jones nephew or sumn
I don't know, the seven ninja swordsmen all have sharp teeth for whatever reason and they're probably not Sage Mode users
@@quentinjones6877 I've always assumed that it's a byproduct of the Demonic and blood stained nature of the swords, or the chakra within them. because not all mist ninja have teeth like that, but all of the known swordsman do.
@@ryuubagubutai that's a good theory
