      Butt naked is a phrase I first heard black folks saying and I found it quite funny, because I had heard buck naked my entire life. But I also had heard the term "big, black buck" because I grew up in a former slave state and I knew the derivation of that term as well.

    Thank you for the information. I use this term often and even have the nerve to be annoyed when people say, "Butt naked", instead of buck naked! I learned that it came from the phrase for a male deer being beautiful and muscular, making women say, "Wow, I'd like to see him buck naked!". I will not continue to use this phrase. It makes me so crazy that so many think it's better to not speak of this history. Buck breaking is the homosexual rape of a man. That's mostly a myth. Homophobia was even more extreme during those times and there's no evidence that any such thing occurred. Even slave owners would be in trouble for that. They would be branded as gay.

    Crime levels have gone down by about 70 percent since the 1980s but America's incarceration rate has risen from 2200 (per million) in 1980 to 5300 today. Perhaps that's because prisons are a business in your country, they're built and run by private enterprises. And businesses find ways to grow over time.
    All countries make prisoners work but in most cases the intent is to help them attain skills and to avoid idleness. I've read some old (pre-war) Japanese stories set in prisons. In those, inmates were made to produce paper balloons and lanterns because most of them were ignorant hoodlums with no work experience. Papercraft was simple, play-like, made them work as a unit. Good for morale. The products were marketed but I doubt anyone made a profit from them.

    • @Spiritof_76
      @Spiritof_76 Місяць тому

      It's not just prisons run by private enterprise, it's private enterprise getting exclusive contracts to supply them, phone service, mail service, canteen "stores", and cheap labor for manufacturers and general labor. It's a scam.

    • @mrcead
      @mrcead Місяць тому +4

      Texas in 1994 had 15 prisons. It has 150 today. With the crime rate going down like you mentioned, and looking at the other states with similar prison growth it makes you wonder what are these men and women in prison for?

    • @PapaCodeBear
      @PapaCodeBear Місяць тому +1

      Giving people work to avoid idleness and teach skills are both good things. That work might even turn into a proud moment and better mental health for the prisoner. It’s the involuntary servitude, unjust pay, poor safety standards, and little to no way to report these issues that is the problem. Prison work just turned into Slavery+. A free society should have no place for slavery.

  • @MichaelJohnson-dt8tv
    @MichaelJohnson-dt8tv Місяць тому +3

    The term Buck was applied to all male enslaved people, and the term Wench was applied to females, and neither was a conscious epithet. It was no more so than the terms Colt or Pup or Cub. Insults are not issued to animals, and in the American system of chattel slavery, the enslaved were not considered Human, they were regarded as Livestock. Until about the age of 40, the males were addressed as “Boy”, after that age, they were “Uncle”. Similarly, the women were addressed as “Gal”, and after full maturity, they were called “Aunt”. These were deliberately demeaning, and intended for continued subjugation. It’s been stated that they were only considered 2/3 of a Human Being. But that was purely in regard to legislative and economic representation of the slave “owners”, it had absolutely nothing to do with the status of the enslaved people themselves. That was a sick, inhuman and inhumane chapter in American history, and the facts that I post here only make it worse. The thought that the same spirit that allowed that horror still exists in this country is galling and nauseating.

    Being buck naked is a phrase used for .... underdressed and unrefined males. I don't need to search for old use terms for females as they are still common in everyday language. Anyone improperly dressed and poorly raised according to a certain set of social standards and who also fullfills the proper male role may be refered to this way regardless of the color of their pelt.
    I am all for no longer using words of hate and enslavement, I have yet to find a language or gender expression that isn't overloaded with them. I am resigned to be constantly misundestood and misinterpreted by those who wish to insult rather than communicate with me.

    There's actually no record of how the phrase started or what it originates from. Some people think it referred to native Americans riding their horses nude to bathe in the rivers of the midwest, but "buck" was used in reference to rowdy youth in Europe back to the 1600s before it was used in the states to refer to non-white men.
    And there's a lot of issues with this theory of its origin. Namely, the phrase wasn't used until the early 1900s, some 60 years after slavery ended, and it's used more by the black population in the south than white Americans, and for men and women. If it was originally derogatory and referring to non-white males, you'd expect it to be more prevalent with whites. So, if it is in reference to the slave trade, then it must have originated in the black vernacular, and that had a whole other connotation (nudity being shameful and degrading like being nude on a selling block). So, it's definitely plausible and an interesting theory.

      Agreed - this is mostly a made up grievance - ‘buck’ naked derives from the same ‘buck’ or ‘buckskin’ used as slang for a monetary value on the American frontier- being ‘buck naked’ meant being out of one’s furs or “naked as a buck”

Criminals are the new term for slave, that's why we make so many laws in order to make more criminals an why some people are considered guilty until proven innocent rather than the other way around, like its supposed to be.

    It boils me when they call each other the N word, songs as well. And I am a woman identifying as OTHER even though they want us to say BLACK. Look at your skin and put it to the highway is this your color? WE are a tribe and we must know who are. All people with dark skin did not come from Africa so heads up the DNA kits lie OTHER (than paternity) SAVE your money. On everything we see pertaining to US its starts with AFRICAN, then AMERICAN this title was input by THE system to keep in down. I pray everyone has the time to SEARCH who we truly ARE and its not about complexion that ppl hate, its because they KNOW who we are and the prophesy from GOD himself SEARCH, SEARCH, SEARCH. Thia is why being able to read was a NO back in the day, know that any and ALL distractions have been infiltrated to keep us blind. YOU will NOT find our TRUE meaning in all these MEGA churches or locals. I never heard it from my OWN family church because they are screaming and hopping around telling you what was handed down to them not to mention taking $$$ salvation is free. Trust me higher ups KNOW who we are and they will never say this on TV or anywhere because they are angry. The bible states we perish because of a lack of knowledge, and we have not because we ask not. The only thing important to our tribe should be the restoration of the TRUE descendants of Judah and Israel. We have been scattered generations ago due to our ancestors disobedience and the prophecy will be complete one day. I dont go back and forth with people on here, because like most l was raised to hear stories and what was passed down from granny and grandpa. I am still doing my research with prayer. Trust me we are more than what you know and have been told, know your worth and pursue your divine call. I love all you ❤.

      @@PushBlack- And since we have delved this far into these definitions and descriptions, we should also address the term “Woke”. According to some on the Right, who haven’t the remotest idea of what they’re talking about, Woke means everything from Gay and/or liberal to the Easter Bunny was mugged and raped by Punxsutawney Phil, and his recently laid chocolate eggs stolen by that diabolical fiend of a Groundhog! And whatever else they want it to mean. But all the Bullshit aside, Woke is simply Aware. And it’s not a recent phenomenon, it dates well back into the days of slavery. In an environment where the slightest “uppity” look or “sassy” tone of voice might get a person flogged….. or worse, it paid to be fully aware of one’s surroundings and status. Woke wasn’t a lifestyle or a philosophy. It was - and is a state of mind, and it remains valuable to this day because this is largely still a hostile environment for Blacks. All those other definitions of Woke are meaningless.

    Look up the different shades of Brown colors.
    Again we are NOT Black or African Americans.
    Our Federal Government have Misclassified Reclassified of now being Black, which is a FALSE LABEL IDENTITY RACE, that our Government have been Imposing on our people.
    This information I been giving to many people for @ least 3 YEARS now, to remind our people you need to do a simple Research & asked your family, & relatives about your Family Heritage.
    Somebody in your family will tell you that we all have American INDIANS Heritage, as being INDIGENOUS people.
