Hmm not familiar with that one. Is that ur main rig right now? For what I do, I really have been liking the sound and function of this Mackie speaker. I usually also daisy chain it to a QSC to spread the sound around 👍
Great question. It doesn’t. It can daisy chain, but isn’t stereo. Since there’s a stereo, input on channels 5-6, this is confusing me. I want to plug the keyboard into it and send the sound out through the USB-C and see if the keyboard could be stereo that way. I need to set that up and see though, cause I’m not sure
ok cool thanks! please tag me if you think of it after experimenting. I'm trying to figure out a simple PA system with some mixer functionality so I can bring trippy stereo effects. I might just have to cave and plan to bring my mixer and get a regular PA instead of 2 of these all-in-one boxes. I was hoping to figure out a PA where I could simplify and just bring one speaker/mixer combo when I don't want to bring all the things, then I could just add a second one for the full setup. I guess I could just use these with my mixer for full set-up gigs and send the main outs to input one on each speaker. I wonder if the all-in-one scenario with pared down instruments, no mixer and one of these would be worth it. Maybe! It def could work for a simple setup without my stereo effects unit. Then, I could also still bring my mixer when there is a house PA, which is what I currently do. @@EmilyMcVicker
Thanks for your effort! What vocal mic are you using/recommend for this system? Is there an App for the phone if you don't want to pull out the remote mixer? Hey! Great questions. I currently use a few different Shure mics, but I’ve got my eye on a Telefunken mic that I hope to buy soon (3x the price of a shure) And for this system, no there’s not an app. Which I find kind of nice. Hi there! Are you asking about a regular speaker, or do you think the showbox might be a good option for you? The nice thing about this speaker, is it comes with the mixer and all those special plugs in the back. do any of those features interest you?
Did you see how I used the 600 with it? Is that also how you use the 505? There’d be a million ways to route it. How do you have ur looper routed to your current set up?
Thanks for replying Emily you are so amazing. I love your voice and your vibe.. smiley 😊!! Currently I just connect my Looper to a speaker. Is routing the same as connecting? or does it mean something else?
I think they really hit it out of the park with this one. It’s everything one could’ve wished the Freeplay live was. The only thing that’s missing is an electric butt warmer when your busking that pre-Christmas holiday crowd!
You should mention the ShowBox costs about $800. That's a very steep price for one speaker and some so-so effects. Mackie makes good gear, but this is pretty costly for a lot of solo musicians.
I do mention the price. You think that’s a lot? It’s all relative I suppose. If you already have a mixer and a speaker that you like working with and sounds good, you probably don’t need a speaker like this. But if you perform solo all the time, and need something portable that can do it all, it’s actually a steal when you consider That it’s a mixer, an interface, and a recording device. I personally found it to be quite unique that the mixer pops off and mounts on the stand like that. It’s my favorite thing for the style of gigs that I do. It also depends on how often you play out and use it. Thanks for sharing your opinion!
I wouldn’t recommend the Bose. I’ve used them and they are fine. I think it’s really overpriced. I’d prefer something like this that is way more versatile and can be a piece of a bigger sound system if you need to add more speakers. That’s my preference
@@EmilyMcVicker Ive had 2 Bose systems and am not a fan. for my smaller dup shows I use the Yamaha Stagepas. I have 2, both the 400 and 600. plenty powerful.
@@michaeljay47 I use the Yamaha Stagepas 600BT for solo and my 3 piece band an love it. Does it all for me. Sound /volume/clarity with detachable mixer also. Easy to use and light weight. Hope Yamaha continues the Stagepas model. I'd have to hear this or any other unit in person to make a change. Not a fan of Bose either. I also use a Roland Cubestreet EX for Busking and small venues/house concerts. Tried other battery powered units , but Roland Cube EX works best for me . Of course , sound is subjective, so whatever works for your application is best. I also shy away from units that require charging. Not practical, most take too long to charge up and lose charge after awhile. But ....that's just me.
when it fast blinks like that, then you know what is done? If this concept proves itself (and it seems to do so from what folk have been finding of it thast I know) it'll be nice if a range for differeing levels of needs are developed. It would be nice to eventually get away from having to use combustion-engine electric generators for power mini 'FOH' outdoor setups . And smaller end, a rerasonable full range of portable battery powered back-line. Especially with swappable batteries as the Thrash Go uses. And the ability to bluetooth daisy-chain equivalents of bottom/sub, middle/woofer, and high/tweeter in relation to each stack size you choose to collect (like modules...) If only.. dream dream dream. For me, so long as it actually works well (enough), the inbuilt looper wseems a great idea (swapping back and forth quickly between thuings. But does it only offer one loop playing back at a time? Or can you run a few simultaneously? (nothing you couldn't do from a phone, iPad iMac or laptop, with more than one loop running. Just be nice too, to do it there for whatever situations. Being a double bass player and afro/brazilian/cuban/new Orleans inspired hand-drummer, this looks like a great little travel companion for me to keep lot's of options for outdoor fun. Or adding weird stealth FX at parties from phone-bourne synths/fx (Ssssssh!) .. funny...
The blinking for the gain? It sets its own auto gain. I don’t like inboard loopers personally. I do more robust arrangements than a single looper can do.
I’ve loved using the showbox, but it really sounds the nicest if you send the signal to a better speaker like a QSC. The sound quality by itself is a little lacking. So I use it as my monitor and send the sound to my nicer QSC speaker. And I have been liking that set up 👍
🤔 I think I explained how I routed the sound… it’s pretty impossible to show how a speaker sounds in a digital format with video. I did the best I could in this video. It also has direct routing as an interface. And SD card recording. If you don’t like the sound of it miked up in this video, that makes sense - it’s just not accurate to how it actually sounds live in a room. When I use it for gigs, I do usually route it to a better speaker like a QSC, and use the showbox as my monitor. And that’s been a good system for me when I’m solo
@ I know, I bought it and I tried the speaker cause I was curious, then I've immediately returned it. as a professional busker this amp is really a joke and I think not mentioning the actual sound in a review is not fair. It's not cheap and it sounds aweful and with distortion at very low volume. It's big and it can't handle the volume of a small mackie freeplay or a bose. But it's twice the size. The worst amp ever made probably
Any EV makes is amazing. Have an Evolve 30m and. Is worth every penny. Is it so easy it to use, has enough channels and Bluetooth. I play to backing tracks so Bluetooth is a must.
Well I showed how to do the sound multiple ways. It’s not a very good representation of demoing a speaker if you just use it a recorder. Lucky for you, it can do it all 👍
Maybe you don’t know I do a musical live stream for a living and this is not the tool I’d recommend for that. If all you need is an audio interface, there are smaller and cheaper options. I demonstrated that feature in the video. Maybe you need to go back and watch again. but showing it as an interface doesn’t give me any info on how it sounds as a speaker. 👍
Luckily you can live stream with it in addition to playing live with it. And if you want to see it in action, I did an irl live stream with it on Friday. Just got to Twitch.tv/emilymcvicker

And if you’re connecting two pedals, in my case Boss RC 30 and Boss VE8, how to connect them?
As I’ve played out with it more, I like to use it as my monitor/mixer and daisy chain it to other speakers for the room 👍 it just sounds better imo
@ if used individually, how many (example a room of 30-40 pax) would it be suitable for?
Yes please followup vid can you demo electric guitar any gibson lp or prs straight into showbox show us what it can do as amp? Thank ah yeah zombie sounded kick ass
Great idea!!! Fur shuure I gotta try the guitar channels w an electric 👍 thanks for that!
Cool Emily thanks! Clevelands calling from the underground …
I currently own a Bose S1. How does this compare sound wise?? That's the Number One consideration to me as a vocalist. Thanks!
Hmm not familiar with that one. Is that ur main rig right now?
For what I do, I really have been liking the sound and function of this Mackie speaker. I usually also daisy chain it to a QSC to spread the sound around 👍
Thanks for this vid! How does it handle panning if you daisy chain and want to pan channels to different speakers?

Thanks for your effort!
What vocal mic are you using/recommend for this system?
Is there an App for the phone if you don't want to pull out the remote mixer?
How loud do you feel it gets opposed to say the Bose Pro +?
Thank you, the energy in your video was palpable, Mackie should thank you for representing
Hey! Great questions. I currently use a few different Shure mics, but I’ve got my eye on a Telefunken mic that I hope to buy soon (3x the price of a shure)
And for this system, no there’s not an app. Which I find kind of nice. But if you’d like to be able to operate with an app, you probably want a digital mixer and then youd just need a regular speaker (not necessarily a tricked out one like this one)

@EmilyMcVicker thank you so like a 58 then?
I also found the new Mackie Mobile Mix...this may be what I want for just playing/singing into headphones and out to my Zfold 5 for practice( at home), THEN it looks like nail that all down take its output to any PA at that point....
Appreciate the review, it really has everything...watching it a bit more I really like the detachable mixer to your mic stand...
Is there a way to connect a monitor into the mixer or speaker?
Ya there’s an XLR-out that you can use to daisy chain 👍
Oh! That's a game changer. Thats the "mix out"? Pardon my ignorance (and thank you for your time).
How can i pair one more Speaker? You know that in live Situations 2 speaker is ideal...
Ya totally. when I bring an extra speaker I send xlr output of the showbox to the input of my QSC. It’s called daisy chaining the speakers 👍
Yo so if i get a mixer and plug it into the speaker will it power the mixer or do i need anothrr power source
Like a different mixer? Ya you would but if you want to use your own mixer, just get a regular speaker that doesn’t have a mixer already.
Maam Hatsoff ur work
I want singing & acoustic guitar with reverb chorus delay with high quality louder plz suggest me boss or jbl marshal or macky plz suggest im waiting for ur reply
Hi there! Are you asking about a regular speaker, or do you think the showbox might be a good option for you? The nice thing about this speaker, is it comes with the mixer and all those special plugs in the back. do any of those features interest you?
Does it work with RC 505 Looper?
Did you see how I used the 600 with it?
Is that also how you use the 505? There’d be a million ways to route it. How do you have ur looper routed to your current set up?
Thanks for replying Emily you are so amazing. I love your voice and your vibe.. smiley 😊!! Currently I just connect my Looper to a speaker. Is routing the same as connecting? or does it mean something else?
How does it sound live?
Excellent! Been using it as my monitor and sending it to my QSC speaker for the crowd. I’m very pleased!!!
it’s winning so far
Totally winning. I’m impressed with this thing!
I think they really hit it out of the park with this one. It’s everything one could’ve wished the Freeplay live was. The only thing that’s missing is an electric butt warmer when your busking that pre-Christmas holiday crowd!
Can this handle my Dingo stomp box
What is a dingo stop box? How do you normally use it with a Pa?
Can you play an electric guitar through it?
You totally could. Might want to use something else with it that does amp modeling. Like a helix or some other kind of pedal
Wow, that's a MOOSE TON of featured packed into a small profile like that!!
It really is! A lot to fit into an 8 min video 😅 hope it was helpful!
Totally!@@EmilyMcVicker
Guapaaaaaa
Gracias! 🙏
This or BOSE S1 Pro?
And I have been liking that set up 👍
holy
Moley!
That green ethernet cable facing towards the audience is the most stupid thing. They should make it coming out the bottom or side of the mixer
Oh that’s a good idea 👍
How to format SD card in Showbox with latest firmware update March 2024 - ua-cam.com/video/KwtnhJq-E3E/v-deo.htmlsi=1CJj5SBsl4bdEChP
Oh excellent! Thank you!
You are welcome 😅
you avoided just a little detail about this. It sounds aweful! 😂
Tens of review and nobody really shows how it sounds
Did you watch my video?
Half the video Is the recoded sound of Emily playing through the PA.
Comes no where near ev everse 8/12
Sorry what?

Sorry. I do busking
impressive and you are cute
🥰❤️😜👍 thanks friend!
you sould have used the souncard n transfered the sound on a video far better sound than what you did doing it this way
Well I showed how to do the sound multiple ways. It’s not a very good representation of demoing a speaker if you just use it a recorder. Lucky for you, it can do it all 👍
@@EmilyMcVicker well a lot of people would use it to stream and sing and make videos too so and it sounds far better when you do this.
