Yeah - i discovered it just recently, while making a 150 m or so ivy covered fence for a project - when it was a single wall in archicad it was just couple of leaves on it, when I disected it to 5m pieces it was fine, like you show it here
not anymore :) never thought it could have smth to do with of the divination of the surface. Do you think that is also a workaround for gras that gets blended out if you move a certain amount away with the camera? Sometimes 3d gras looks really good and sometimes something is wrong. Like if Lumion couldnt handle to render a larger area of 3d gras. I did play around with subdivieded surfaces, but it didnt change a thing with the gras
@@FSvizzard this issue you described is solved by manipulating grass size - I think value of 0.5 in grass size is more less 50 meters distance from camera where the grass will be rendered with 3d geometry. the larger grass size the further it shows in renders
I know that a plane with subdivision works better with displacement compared to just simple plane without subdivision, but I never thought of this, thank you Nuno!
Great idea, thank you! In my case, I'll use it to create private-hedge sections much easier/quicker than Lumion does natively (obviously with a mass rather than plane, yet leveraging your tip).
@@NunoSilva3d what I am doing is I make a box in SKP and just apply a foliage material in Lumion. it doesn't look so believable. I'm tired of using the Ivy hedge in lumion.
How did It change drastically just by adding sections in another plane? Can someone expand on it? I use SketchUp. It helps me if someone can tell how to do it in SketchUp.
In the end of the video I explained shortly. Just add assets from other plants to mix and match. You can find them on sites like 3dsky.org for example.
this option is very very important but we can't find it out of lumion ... they must add it with more details in D5 .. really very important for everything
hi Nuno ! i bought form you course for lumion and i have specific question not covered in any course , do i have a chance to ask you by any communication app ?
I never understood why the Lumion crew never does tutorials like this. Instead they make tutorials on the very basics. In any case Lumion is going the way of the dodo. I'm switching to Twinmotion this year. More features, ray tracing, more optimised engine at a third of the price.
@@NunoSilva3d For photos, in my experience it takes almost the same time as Lumion, but with better results. Also, the fact that they have a roadmap so you can see what they're working on is also a plus. And once again the price is more appealing 😁 I'm still using Lumion, but in the course of this year I will definitely be switching my rendering software.
@@gizmonomono I have just recently made the switch to Twinmotion. I just feel that act3d has sat on their ass for too long and haven't made enough progress despite the ridiculous cost. Even though I will concede that Lumion still beats Twinmotion for photo-realism, vegetation and Render styles; TM is miles ahead with everything else. Lumion is like Apple OS - very clean and User-friendly; TM is like Microsoft/windows - clunky but very logical and 100% customisable. Regarding Nuno's comment on Rendering time - this is certainly not true for me - I just rendered 40 HD images today all with Pathtracer enabled, it took around 3 minutes to do the lot. With TM, you also now have the cloud allowing client/other users to access and explore your project through a browser, and it's also compatible with VR. After 9 years of Lumion, glad I made the switch.
@@craigstephens93 I've been trying it out for the past few months. For interiors it's 10 times better than Lumion. In exterior shots I can still get good results with Lumion, but TM is just as good. You are on point with everything you said. Another good thing about TM is the assets. Lumions library is vast, but it's full of unusable 10 year old models. In time TM could also transfer to Unreal 5, so with Lumen and Nanite the possibilities would be endless.
Did you had this issue with the leaves material before?
I did... thanks to you not anymore 👌🏾👍🏾

Hi Nuno. Can you do a tutorial on how to add flowers to a green wall?

Thank you Mr. Nuno...it is very helpfull...
Glad to hear that! :)

How to adjust geometry in skp brother?
Great tutorial! thanks!
Where did you get the other vegetation assets? So we can recreate it!
Thanks!
Thank you! Check 3dsky.org
Good tutorial
Thank you! :)
Can you please show us how to make a better-looking hedge? Thanks!
Can you show me an example of what you need?

I need leaves like this in D5. Any tips, or, a video would be helpful. I like using my custom and long hedge rows. Thanks Nuno.
Thanks man !

How to join the lumion course ??
Hi Anurag, just click on this link: nunosilva.pt/lumion-course and you will have the join bottom in the end of the page.
How to add multiple vegetation on one surface
You can get 3d models from plants that are done already in a vertical way, from sites like 3dsky, and then merge them together with your wall.
How did It change drastically just by adding sections in another plane? Can someone expand on it?
I use SketchUp. It helps me if someone can tell how to do it in SketchUp.
I don't know how Lumion engine sees it, but I guess it spread more leaves around the geometry edges.
The Master
Thanks! :)
Hello. sir, What version Lumion do you use
for that tip?
Lumion 12. But it works in any version that has this material shader.
How did you added those different leaves type on the final image? They really make a difference on the final result

hi Nuno, can you share where I can download this others vegetation material assets? thanks
Sure! I've downloaded them from 3dsky.

thanks
Hi Nuno, do you prefer D5 over Lumion on Interiors most of the time?
nice
Thank you!
Is there any way I can create this type of wall,in 3ds max without using Lumion?
In my case I wanna recreate this with moss, but strictly in 3ds
tnx

Cannot comment on why they don’t do it. About Twinmotion, I think ray tracing there is nice but the issue is there is taking about 1h to render.
