Nyala | Mount & Finish | Splitting Image Taxidermy

- Welcome to another video in our trophy mounting and finishing series.
In this video you will see Splitting Image Taxidermy's taxidermist shape the mould for a Nyala to be mounted. This Nyala shoulder mount has a left turn to it, as requested by the client, to better showcase the shape of the horns.
Once the mounting is down, the trophy goes into a drying stage of 6 weeks. After this drying period, the taxidermist from the finishing department at Splitting Image Taxidermy will take the trophy for its final touch ups prior to shipping. This process involves the removing of any excess clay, treating horns, airbrush layering and conditioning of the skin.
Feel free to leave your comments below if there are any other trophies you would like to see mounted.

How can anyone have one of this?
I believe that you send them a hide and then they taxidermy the hide
A few things. Kind of strange a large studio like splitting image has only a straight form and has to cut them for a turn. Second, nothing is more unnatural than putting oil on horns. They are not shiny in the wild. And lastly, what a bad seam on the neck. Bad sewing job along with way over painting.
