Taxidermy Truth | Episode 21 | In the Details
In this week’s episode of Taxidermy Truths, we get into the details.
The details a hunter shares about his animal - the pose, the head tilt, the angle, the unique characteristics are paramount when creating a brief for the taxidermy artist. Similarly, the fine details expressed through the musculature and movement of the skin, or the wetting of the nose and eyelids is what makes the difference between average taxidermy and a work of art.
It’s all in the details - you don’t want to miss this one.

Rich people bloodsport death trophy. Too much money.
Bro its a spider to us aussies 😂
Trophy hunting south african is a bad look man i guarantee that view is held worldwide
A local south african meathunter spendsabout $4 000 a season an international trophy hunter spends about $20 000 a season on average. Unfortunately no birdwatcher is doing that so there's more incentive to keep things as they are. There more to it still the hunt occurs in rural areas in dire need of job creation and economic development 31 500 jobs in South africa rely on the hunters from accommodation and housekeeping to guides that support the hunt out in the field. Consequently there is more wildlife in South Africa now than there was 50 or 60 years ago. There are now estimated 19 million head of game in the country (as of 2018) compared to the 1950 when there were less than half a million individuals left. species such as the tsessebe, roan antelope, sable, bontebok and rhino have been saved from extinction as private wildlife reserve owners bread with these species, as it has financial gain for them. South Africa is renowned for its unique conservation success story which is attributed to the phenomenal role wildlife ranchers have played in securing essential wildlife habitat, through the rewilding and protection of species and biodiversity.
Unfortunately the most hunted people in SA are white people
They run fast and jump very high With string like meat delicious to eat😂😂😂
Trophy hunting.. 👎👎👎 Free Palestine!
Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So trophy hunting animals is bad, but trophy hunting land is good,, and should be supported? Obviously you're not informed on any of the topics that you comment about.
@@uncle_Samssubjectsobviously you’re not, Palestine is not land poaching but the other side is.
@@uncle_Samssubjectsyes trophy hunting is bad but the rest of what you said makes no sense as Palestine is the one being occupied. So no.. Land grabbing is worse than trophy hunting.
Paleshit
Stop hunting arent these endangered stop hunting
the effort put into not just the taxidermy but the video itself incredible!
Beautiful work
Black wildebeest is an interesting antelope.
I taught hunter education for 16 years. The name was changed from firearms safety for political reasons. I told my students that if no one purchased hunting tag that they would go away. Indeed, in our state the department of fish and game suffered dearly. Wildlife management is crucial. Hunters fund what no others will do because we love our critters, and some are delicious. Long live the hunter. It's the way nature intended it. Venor Ergo Sum
Beautiful. I tell people that if they enjoy seeing wildlife, thank hunters $.
Very well said, Doug.
Wonderful jobs..👍👏🇹🇷😊
Was . Now dead
I would just like to get my taxidermy finished and back to uk you have had for over 15 months now
Maybe some day I can get a piece from you guys. 🙏

Slitting Image taxidermy is truly amazing 👌🏻👌🏻. As an local I will never use another taxidermy. Great and friendly service received , I have handed in my second trophy to them can't wait to see yet another magnificent end result .
I'm in America
That's sooooo cool!!!
Can I contact you. I am about to mount an open mouth zebra and have questions 😅
Whoever makes the king of the beast using mounting Is the king of all arts
You guys are sooooo underrated
Great Job, how do I get my stuff to you, we're are you based
😢
Gavin is my most favourite taxidermist
I looked long and hard determining who would do my 12 trophies in Africa. I chose SI for a reason. You take as long as you need to deliver a solid quality product because that's why I chose you. If you rushed and delivered a poor or mediocre product I'd never be back, you deliver an outstanding product I'll always be loyal. I waited 2 yrs for my bear and 3 yrs for my birds for a reason..I would prefer to wait and get museum quality rather than something that insults the animal. Patience is needed in all aspect of hunting..it applies here as well.
Thanks Doug. I look forward to soon receiving my second shipment from Splitting Image since 2020. I agree with everything you said, with one exception. COVID didn't take away our freedom. Overzealous politicians did that!
I hunted July. Shipment dip and pack arrived December 15. Tanneries are backed up in us though. Some of my animals were on my wall within a year. Others 18 months.
Wtf would you kill a animal just for the mount then brag about it you are pathtic
👍🏻
I need to be rich. Maybe some day 👍👍
Hear ya. Would be awesome to do so many mounts, let alone hunt in SA but alas, money is always an obstacle.
The thing she is working on gave her the bombastic side eye
I would have liked to spend a year or two learning taxidermy out of high school. I could have saved a lot of money doing my own mounts. Lol.
They gave him a spare I would think.
