- I am sacrificing my time and effort to do a side by side test of brush styling vs finger coiling, to see which one gives better results, and determine which I prefer.

Honestly, I prefer brush styling. It prevents frizz and gives great definition.
Amen to that! 🙌🏼😊
Thanks for the video. I can’t finger coil well. I have finger rolled my whole head once. My arms were so sore. I just brush style now. It’s so much easier.
I definitely wouldn't consider myself good at it either. I agree, brush styling is for me. 🙂
I decided to do the brush styling and my stylist had to cut off over an inch because it was damaged so I am much more careful. My hair is finally getting my ringlets I had when I was little. It seems scrunching is probably better for me but I was really getting the brush style technique right. You have beautiful hair. 🩷🌷🩷🌷
Thank you for watching! Some people, through genetics, may be more prone to mechanical damage from brush styling. It may also depend depend on the type of brush you use. Boar bristle brushes (or synthetic versions) can give a lot of tension when using. Tension helps the curls form, but it can also be damaging to already weakened hair. Poor diet, chemicals (dying) and heat can all cause damage as well. I personally find my Tangle Teezer brush to be pretty gentle.
You also mentioned that you had an inch cut off because of damage. And while I don't know how often you get your hair trimmed or the length or general health of your hair; I will say, it's not uncommon for me to get an inch cut about every 6 months.
Wishing you healthy happy hair! 😊
I actually do both… I brush style most of my hair and finger coil around my face
I think a fair amount of people do that. Thanks for sharing! 😀
You have great definition! Maybe if you would've lift and scrunch your root area on the coiled side, perhaps you would've had the same amount of volume. 😊
Thanks for the suggestion! 😀
I'd love to hear your favorite method for styling your curls
I’m considered a lazy natural 😂 the very thought of finger coiling ever again … ummm yeah no, it was exhausting to me… I only tried it once n didn’t see really any difference but added another like 15 mins n my arm was not to happy 😊 after all the washing n deep conditioning n the detangling I just want to be done with these curls. I don’t really brush style either, basically after putting in the leave in I generally brush my hair to distribute the product and usually in the 4 sections after that I use my fingers. I don’t even diffuse either. My results usually turn out pretty good so, if it’s not broke I’m just going to let my curls be great however the fall, 😅 in the end they do what they want. Thanks for sharing it was great to see your results ✨✨✨
Lol, I totally get you 😂. I was seriously questioning my sanity as I was doing this. But curiosity and determination finally won out (mainly bc I only planned on doing this once), and I completed the task. Definitely do what works best for your curls and your sanity. Thanks for watching! 😃
Wow, finger coiling is tedious. I can't believe you got through half your hair doing that. 😮
For the sake of this video and experimenting, it was worth it, but I don't see myself doing that again in the future. 😁
