been obsessed with this song for 11 years, its beautiful
Nice pfp
I’m obsessed with playing this song on the drums, bass, and guitar. Well, honestly any failure song is really fun to learn lol.
I hope you've seen it live...nothing like it. They should be on the road this year hopefully.
Been obsessed for almost 30...
Finally someone reacted to this masterpiece!
It's such a great song!
Thank you so much for giving Failure a chance.
When you said "out there" at 5:57, you were right. As you read, the trio started heavy heroin usage halfway through the recording of their sophomore album, and through their third, which became the last release since t&heir breakup in 1997 (A year after the making of Fantastic Planet), and until thei reunion in 2014. Emotional problems, and the intense drug dependency led to their personal, and professional lives crashing down.
Again, you were VERY right. Out there, distant, hollow.
Check out another song from Fantastic Planet called The Nurse Who Loved Me. :)
Will do!
@@EwokToRemember I second that suggestion. Really the whole album is a somewhat under appreciated masterpiece, hard to pick songs from it.
(I say somewhat, because a lot of great musicians that saw much more success site Failure and this album especially as a big influence or generally sing its praises. Just didn't build nearly the listening audience it deserves. Plus band founder and lead vocalist Ken Andrews went on to have a successful career recording and mixing other artists who came looking to get that sound achieved on Fantastic Planet, which he did himself.)
This is like my favourite song of all time, nice reaction. Yeah, it puts you into a trance plus it sounds amazing and the lyrics are really cool with the whole space theme too. I also like Solaris, The Nurse Who Loved Me and Blank which are from the same album Fantastic Planet. Outside of that album I also like Counterfeit sky, Dark speed and Enjoy the Silence 2020 by Failure.
These guys are amazing. Such a good band, and they all seem so chill in interviews. Big influence on me musically
I saw them in Austin not too long ago, and got to talk with them in-person for a V.I.P. :) They're lovely.
Got to meet them after a show in Philly, their first tour after getting back together.... they were super cool
@@williamkramer9731 dude I missed their show in Philly this summer I wanted to go so bad
@@AdamF89 me too....I seen them three times down there and I'm most bummed about missing them with hum opening......I did get the Fantastic Planet 20th show though
The solar panel's shining face is smiling back on me,
Twisting off into the sun - it's okay to be lonely.
I enjoyed this. My ears perked up when you said Troy Van Leeuwen. The second longest tenured member of Queens of the Stone Age. 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
This song is about heroin addiction, as are many other songs from this album
hi finna Meme!
@finnameme8108 I think you’re confused with the song “The nurse who loved me”
@@Plexor_76 no I’m not that’s one of the “many other songs” I was referring to
I think you should react to more failure songs
I think you’re right. This one was fantastic.
@@EwokToRemembermy favorite failure song after this one is “heliotropic”
Just an amazing album. My favorite rock album of the 90s. The heroin references are much more explicit throughout the album, but in the context of this track, they're not so thick.
This is my favorite song of all time.
Probably one of my favorite songs. Another great song is Small Crimes from the Magninifed album. Off topic you look like Single Track Sampler on UA-cam ha.
Didn’t like undone? I think you should hear it again.
Ikr, Undone is their best song if you ask me.
Could you react to Hum - the Scientist's
Hey Marcos! I know black midi has been pretty hit and miss for you so far, but I think you might like their recently released track Welcome to Hell. Definitely worth a listen 👌🏼
You got it! Coming soon
Heliotropic next
Please react No Lookin' Back by Michael Mcdonald
Finna Meme!
Their big hit was stuck on you
I like to think of it as a song about space not drugs. I've never seen it as a song about heroin, that's just a boring and honestly annoying depiction imo. The song being about space alone is very cool and interesting to me at least I won't think of it as a drug song.
I think those two concepts are intertwined. It wouldn't be crazy to say that heroin use drove Ken, Greg, and Kellii into their own corners of isolation?
I think I see your point... songs like Dirty Blue Balloons, or Smoking Umbrellas deliver the drug usage themes much more poignantly.
Maybe not so much Another Space Song, but several songs are more overtly about drug addiction, lyrically speaking. Sergeant Politeness, and Dirty Blue Balloons come to mind. Both good songs of course lol.
This song is about heroin addiction, the analogy for falling deeper into heroin addiction and it consuming your life being like floating away in space like he describes in the song
@@finnameme8108 Well, I don't disagree. I was talking about the overt nature of the other songs, whereas some songs are more abstract or analogous. (By that I mean, some songs use analogy as you mentioned, some songs pretty much spell it out, like buying drugs from a dealer in Sergeant Politeness. All songs on the album are influenced in some way by drugs, we can assume.)
They aren't a band you just listen to a few songs of
