Kecleon has an interesting gimmick that you typically don't see unless you cheat one onto the team. At low levels, he is absurdly weak but his stats raise exponentially so when he reaches a level closer to where you'd naturally find one, he becomes godly powerful. Found that out by playing a randomized rom of Sky, in which I chose Kecleon as a starter.
A lot of people recruit a Kecleon then try to use it in Zero Isle or Destiny Tower, because they think it’ll be OP, only to end up finding out what you mentioned
@@TheGelatinCat That's a good point. You'd have to be a god at the gameplay to get Kecleon through the first half of that dungeon.
@@feiradragon7915 I don’t think it’s even possible without an insane amount of luck. The first few floors of Destiny Tower are used for grinding levels and items super hard to prepare for the brutality that starts on 14F, but Kecleon starts with 1HP, making it so difficult to even get past 1F.
The Grovyle fight makes you lose even if you win because mechanically, it’s a test of player skill, but canonically, the player and partner are weaker than Grovyle at this point.

@@spiritbaki108 I mean, I don't think I once beat that fight. I know it's doable, but you need some intense item luck in the dungeon in order to beat it, cause bidoof at the point does very little damage.
@@gryphon4150 Its not that I am super good at the game (even though I am 🥴), I just took 8 reviver seeds from storage and taught bidoof some TMs (I think it was like hyper beam or giga impact, maybe superfang, hydro pump or something)
Having been in the Tumblr trenches back in the day, it's somehow so charming to hear chat try to explain it to Smant in increasingly odd but also not incorrect metaphors.

The Ariados just giving you an egg is probably the kid's game friendly way to explain that. Personally, I rather think the Ariados and you had a drunken fling and the egg is the result of that.

this game is childhood ,but really hard to replay as adult. Really if you were in the age groups of 7-15 you'd love this, especially if you're an early teen so you can understand the text rather than mash A. Great writing ,great soundtrack
Why wouldn't you be able to understand the story if you are older? Do you mean because you play the game in the perspective of children? I honestly had to trouble with it, I enjoyed it a lot
@@Temms you have to check your eyes. The story is good regardless of age (better if older) the GAME is harder to replay. It's slow,text heavy, and bit repetitive ( discharge + bullet seed is too op) Ofc my opinion,i had great memories in 2008-10 playing this

It's only in the upgraded sky version, the cafe probably just wasn't even in the game you played back then.

Yeah... the one thing I'd change about this game if I were to remake it for adult fans is to remove all the flashbacks to recent events and repetitiveness. Not all the cutscenes, mind you, the game's story is fantastic. And the dimensional scream visions have to stay. But all the other flashbacks? Ugh. They clog up the whole game.

Smant 56:40 is technically correct, not to mention both the first and 2nd game had ghost types as bad guys lol.
(Gengar's post game story still is pretty depressing to read even now. What's worse is even if Smant plays it he wouldn't bother playing past the main story just for this one off story mission which is the final ending to the Ninetales plot line.)
Later on, he ranted kinda that it's stupid for dusknoir to mention the future. But you and your partner witnessed that Dusknoir and Grovyle knew each other. So, how else can he explain that? No matter what else he says isn't gonna suffice, so go for truth.
And he goes for grovyle alone because he wants to capture grovyle.
But really, this is before knowing who dusknoir and grovyle
Smant if you’re considering playing any of the other games: Super Mystery Dungeon is pretty good, but you can skip Gates to Infinity imo

There is not much of a challenge when you keep one shotting every enemy :( I think you are far too overlevelled.
Nah he‘s not doing many extra jobs in between story and oftentimes not even exploring the whole floor. His level should be just fine. This game isn‘t hard if you use items like violent seed + vile seed. And monster houses can be easily handled with orbs. The reason we struggled as kids was simply because we didn‘t use items as much. But SmallAnt almost always keeps his inventory stacked full with all kinds of useful items and uses them when necessary. That‘s just the smart way to play.
The game isn't difficult. You can beat the whole thing without taking any items into dungeons.
