Prune Like a Pro: Sweetshrub

Sweetshrub (Calycanthus floridus) is a multi-stemmed shrub that primarily blooms in the spring. Its name refers to the beautiful flowers that are highly aromatic when first opening.
Sweetshrub have a significant suckering habit, and that is the primary reason to prune. After that, prune only to maintain the overall shape, allowing for airflow and sunshine into the center of the shrub.
