    Thank you so much for this video. I am always watching videos to learn Wordpress and sometimes, more than i would like, videos are not clear enough or they just skip options that seems to be important, but you cover all the settings clearly and recommend options. Now I'm suscribed to your videos and will be watching as much as i can your channel. Thanks again. Greetings from México.

    I have installed the basic version of Smush plugin on my website but its still not compressing the image size of images. What do I need to do so that it can reduce image size of my images in the basic plan?

    Yeah i used it a lot.. thanks.. hopefully can you do an update of the latest best cache plugin. which can be used for free.. because some of the cache plugin is buggy.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      Stay tuned for Wednesday's tutorial, it's about a simple and free caching plugin.
      It has a paid version as well, but the free version is great and easy.

    Before uploading images, I always compress them with compressor software. Should I still use the Smush plugin for more speed? #TIA

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому +1

      Hi Mostafiz,
      It depends on how well the software is doing the compression. I've found that even when I compress images with software (like Photoshop), a plugin on the site compresses it a little more.
      I use Shortpixel at the moment because the free version compresses better than the free version of Smush. You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/tVsdSEZ3__A/v-deo.html
      I hope that helps :) Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    Does it automatically compresses all our images which are present in our website pages or it just compresses the images available in the media upload folder and we need to then replace each and every image of the website with the compressed one?
    Please do let me know.

  • @earthangel6858

    Do you think I need to use this plug-in along with Lazy Load or just one or the other? If you recommend just one, which would you say would be better for me to use?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  4 роки тому

      The Shortpixel plugin does not have Lazy Load, so using Lazy Load with it would not cause any problems and would probably speed up your site.
      I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

    Hello
    I downloaded and activated the Smush Plugin
    Then I activated the free trial of the 7 days of WPMU DEV leaving credit card details etc.
    But after I clikkato the Bulk Smush Now button to optimize about 1000 images already present on the site, after a long time of processing, I found the images not linked to the pages.
    Then each page of the site is blank from images.
    While looking in the Wordpress Media gallery the images are still present.
    WHAT HAPPENED?
    Thank you in advance for the answer
    See you soon
    Mark

    I am new to Wordpress and am totally confused about uploading images for different pages. I am an artist and obviously have a lot of images. If I want to use the same image on different pages with different title, Alt Tag and description, do I need to upload the same image for each post?

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      Hi Patricia,
      Sorry for the delay in responding.
      You only need to upload the image once. You can add it to as many pages as you like by editing the page and clicking on Add Media. Find the image in the list, click on it and then edit the caption and alt tag in the form on the right and then click insert.
      OR, once the image is inserted into the page you can also edit the alt tag and caption in the editor.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  5 років тому +1

      There are lots of ways to paid work, but they all have one thing in common, you have to get out into the real world or the internet and promote yourself. Business conferences are a great place to look in the real world. Online the best thing you can do is create lots of great content. You can teach business owners how to create their own motion designs. Some of those business people will reach out to you to have create their designs.

      after checking them out. Siteground sadly missing some things. like Paypal payment , monthly contract have crazy setup few. "never really like to pay for a year on a new host before at least testing them for some months" but main issue was paypal. as i don't like using my CC. Kinda like the control paypal gives with companies outside norway.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      In the post editor, somewhere in the right side column (usually near the bottom), you'll see the featured image for the post. Below that image you click on "Remove featured image" to remove it.
      I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

    • @lalitjoshi1431

      I mean, hide featured image in the post.

    • @wplearninglab
      @wplearninglab  6 років тому

      Do you mean it from just one post? If so, you can use CSS display:none;
      You'll have to put that code into your functions.php file with special PHP code to make it apply just to the page you want.
      Does that sound like something that could work?

    WP Smush is not near as good as resmushit which is 100% free
    WP Smush annoys with advertisings and it asks you constantly to install the wpmudev dashboard which is completely useless if you haven't paid $600 for your yearly access to about 100 WPMUDEV plugins while 80% of them haven't seen a developer for years. -> check their changelogs! If you have personal or copyrighted or trademarks on it it is risky to use this plugin as it sends the images without the consent of your users to a server in the US and back - in that case, EWWW would be the much better choice.
    IN Version 2.7.* version of WP smush conflicted with Page Builders and it is a headache when your compression of images isn't working as it should work.
    Ifg you like to get a lossless smushing you can use resmushit in its standard settings and you will get much better results. If you like to get results like WPMUDEV is promising with their Pro version simply change the resmush it settings to lossy compression and you will get much smaller files.
    What the Pro version of Smush it promisses with 2x better compression is nothing else than you can achieve also with the free resmushit.
    "Get 2x the compression than lossless with our intelligent multi-pass lossy compression." that is what WPMUDEV is doing in its pro version ;-) and it comes not even near to resmushit!
    WP_Smush and Smush Pro is like many other WordPress image compression plugins on the former smush.it YAHOO Image smushing which had been terminated. Once the Initiator of WPMUDEV wrote that they then took that well known and very often used service - named it even with a similar - more or less same name - and actually gained a lot of members by doing that as most probably believed that this is smush.it like it was at YAHOO times. Now WPMUDEV has over 650.000 members even their membership fee is meanwhile $600 for one year! So that business modell seemed to have worked just perfect at least for them.
    wordpress.org/plugins/resmushit-image-optimizer/
    "reSmush.it is the best WordPress image compression plugin. It allows you to automatically optimize images on upload as well as offer a bulk optimization option for older images."
    WP Beginner has written a very good review with tests about the free Image Compression plugins. Check it out - WP-smush was one of the worst in results!
    www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/best-wordpress-image-compression-plugins-compared/
    "For example, if you are uploading a 3 MB photograph to your WordPress site, then WP Smush reduces it by 10-20% without losing quality. It is still 2.4 to 2.7MB file, which is huge.
    WP Smush gives you no control on how much you can optimize an image. While it does reduce the image file size, it is not the best solution."
    BEST OF ALL: It is GDPR compliant as it does not send any data to the US and gets developed in Paris (EU)
    Here you can see the status of the servers and their location - all inside the EU!!! - resmush.it/status
