    I lived in Tokyo for 4 years, but my wife came from Osaka and her parents still live there so we often visit and Osaka is my favorite city in Japan. I've been to all the places in this video, so thanks for the memories.

    The chef in the middle at 2:42 is so nice! I brought my parents there at an off hour in the middle of the afternoon and we were the only ones there, with him serving us. He gave us some of the small metal spatulas to take home as souvenirs.

      +David Calhoun He was SO nice. I'm glad I didn't give up looking for that place. I might have been alone but they took the time to chat with me and he himself even wished me well when I left.

      It was hard to find! I had an Italian friend take me there the first time, then I tried to track it down on my own again some time a few weeks later and I STILL got lost, haha. So worth it though. Delicious :)

    Beautifully edited and scripted! This was very well put together and really highlights everything that the beautiful city of Osaka has to offer. I visited a few places in Japan on my last trip and I have to say I really did enjoy Osaka. It was a more laid back version of Tokyo with the perfect dosage of hustle and bustle. Loved it so much will be going back in the fall LOL. It's safe to say Osaka stole my heart!

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому

      +Martina Dossena It's always best to know simple phrases for respect, safety, and better ease of traveling but to be honest I went to Japan only knowing how to say "Thank you" .___. With that said, it was pretty easy getting around as long as you stay on the usual tourist path aka touristy spots or places where foreigners usually go to. It became harder in Kyoto when I accidentally took the wrong bus to a rural village but then that's where charades come in :) Best of luck with the travel planning, travel safe, and have fun!

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  9 років тому

      Ammy Francis I use Final Cut Pro and found the image inserts through quick google searches :) Just type in what you're looking for followed by "transparent" or "png" and it should work. My GoPro heats up quick too so I turn it off whenever I'm not recording. Also, invest in extra batteries! I have 5 total right now and they were all really cheap and from third party, Chinese companies. Thanks!

      +Michelle Hoa I really did! I stayed for 3 nights and they gave me a free day rental for one of their bikes (in the video). Also, the owner is quite known for being really nice. I rented out a bunk bed in a room with 8 people (cheapest option) and the beds all come with curtains for some privacy. It's also really close to the station + there's a Mister Donuts closeby :)

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому +8

      lol I'm sorry you feel that way. Solo trips are great for a variety of reasons but yeah it's mostly preference. I find that I meet more people and do more things I wouldn't have thought of when I travel solo than I do when I'm with others.

    • @robertl8429
      @robertl8429 8 років тому +1

      yeah i travelled for years solo. honestly its not as fun walking around with no one to share it with at the time. and i dont mean share online etc. i mean i guess you get to the point where you see a ton of cool stuff solo that it doesnt have as big an impact any more and having another person with you allows you to share it with them. i guess its the equivalent of sharing a meal with someone vs eating by yourself.

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому +7

      +ルナロバート again, just preference 😊 I've done plenty of solo and group travel and there are pros and cons. When I'm alone I don't constantly wish I had someone there with me and when I travel with my boyfriend it's a different enjoyment. I enjoy both.

    • @cloudstrife7349

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  9 років тому +1

      jackie Buenaventura I rented a wifi egg to ensure I wouldn't get TOO lost while biking and following google maps I'd say the owl cafe was pretty easy to find! The okonomiyaki place though was harder. Tip: save pictures of storefronts or signs of the restaurants that you want to visit. That one was hidden in a basement maze of other restaurants but thankfully I saved a picture of their sign and was able to find and match it perfectly :) Hope that helps!

    did you speak any english going around osaka?

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому +5

      +1kaaa I only needed to speak English to officials, people working at tourist spots, and the workers at subways: basically people who work where a lot of tourists would be. Communication with them was great because they probably expect to have to speak English/other languages. I think a lot of Osaka still do not speak English but it's not hard to find someone that can help you out as long as you know where to look :)

    It looks like you were using an app to find restaurants and other tourist sites. Can you tell us what app that was?
    Thank you so so much~

      PetraKalkofen hey there! I was actually just using the tripadvisor mobile site to find an elusive restaurant's storefront (I can't read Japanese so it was really helpful having pictures to lead the way). I really do recommend the site though! Reading reviews from people who have visited the places I wanted to go to really helped me plan my itinerary and most reviews came with great directions! ^o^

    hello! would like to ask where did you hire your bike when you are travelling in Osaka?

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  9 років тому

      Kelly Chu my hostel, J-Hoppers Osaka, provided them for guests. I stayed for 3 nights and received a free day of bike rentals for free :) If you're ever in Osaka I do recommend biking the city!

    any tips when I arrive at the airport?

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому

      +Ivier Twist make sure you have your way out of the airport figured out! Either train (so you don't get lost) or by taxi and making sure where that is. I went by train and found it kind of confusing but a little reading up helped out a lot!

    you use a chest mount with your gopro?

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  9 років тому

      +Sylvester Yap I do, for some of these shots (i.e. the biking ones). I use a body harness with the gopro clipping on the chest.

      NICE. any advice on how to reduce the shaky feel when recording during walking? cos i am beginner for gopro video.

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  9 років тому

      +Sylvester Yap it really will be shaky when walking, unfortunately. To help steady it a bit, I recommend using some sort of gopro stick to balance it out a bit. So if you're walking around just have it on one of the accessory sticks and the footage should be a lot steadier than if you're just holding and walking.

    Is it true that you don't even need to lock your bike because the crime rate is so low?

    • @leeyuck
      @leeyuck  8 років тому +1

      +Naiuhz I only locked my bike because it was a rental that I didn't want to risk having to pay an absurd amount for (especially when I was getting the rental for free!). I only visited for a week but I was able to see a lot of unlocked bikes so I can assume that it's not something people there worried a lot about. I lived in Korea for a year and never felt the need to lock my bike or even my door :)

      I lived in Kyoto for about a year. All the bikes there come with self-locks that tie up the wheels. Bicycle theft does occur, but probably infrequently enough that you don't have to worry about it.
      The biggest hassle, especially in Kyoto, is finding a place to park your bike free of charge. A ton of people took risks and parked their bikes in nonfree areas, and have their bikes scooped up by the city's bike collection truck that comes by at random. The bike ends up in a designated area, where you have to go pick it up (with your bike registration papers). I had to pay a $25 fee for a bike that was only worth $100...
