We did rmrw last year, anddddd epic fail!! I live in south alabama, and we are at sea level. Car wasent ready but i was all in no matter what. Day 1 we went a 8.48 blowing through the converter on only 11psi of boost. Changed the converter, and then had lifter issues. On the way to the hotel, we had a huge failure. And out of nowhere it kicked a rod!! Motor was fresh with 1 run, and a few dyno pulls for a basemap!!! Blue print engines are trash!! Found so much fuckery upon disassembly
@@bigduphusaj162 Still a grueling event, harder than nhra top fuel, those guys have million dollar mobile shops with a spare trans and engine for every run and a semi driver to haul their stuff to the next track while they fly. Drag and drive guys have tiny budgets, have to pull their spare parts with the race car and lay down fast times almost everyday, and have to wrench in the dirt on side of the road with only driver and co driver allowed to touch car.

Back in the 90's I took a boat from Lake Michigan to the St Lawrence Seaway to the Ohio to the Mississippi down to Apalachicola Florida over a 2 week trip. It was EPIC. You were talking about it when you were driving and it made me remember that trip. Going thru the lock systems was harrowing but so much fun. Highly recommend that trip for a boat.

The oil cooler at 17:53 should have the fittings coming in from the top side. In its current position the cooler drains and has potential to trap air and not work properly. If the fittings come in from the top side, the cooler is always full of oil. Hope this helps

@@54raceman - Yeah, that makes sense. Converting Mullet over to a big tire would be a way bigger undertaking than most people realize. It would mean rebuilding the entire back half of the car. Chassis, rear end (narrower), suspension, wheel tubs.

I'm an over-the-road truck driver and I parked at the Petro in Rochelle Illinois last night. Watched this video when I woke up this morning and then saw Mullet, as well as other race week cars, in the parking lot of the hotel across the street when I left. I was 500 feet away from Cletus and didn't even know it.
It has feel good to have Steve in the same event. He has a vested interest in you guys succeeding. It is absolutely amazing that these cars can do this type of stuff at this high of a level.
Awesome Boys. I used to slalom water ski on the rock river in front of the big Chief statue in Oregon and my last drag race was at the Play Ground of Power Byron Drag strip...nothing like racing towards a Nuclear Power Plant at full speed haha

The new engine definitely makes more power the last years set up and it shows in the slips. However the car literally never had any issues with the smaller set up. I was shocked when I found out how many miles and passes were on that engine when SM did his video on it. Still love the reliability they are getting.
Great job guys! A grey louver on the oil cooler area or the entire lower valence would still look good and provide air to needed coolers. Cool Temps = longer life. Let's go!

@@danmyers9372 Idk about that one, they've toyed with the idea in the past. My money would be on it simply not happening because every single car they've run historically has been radial, not slick. They haven't even run small slicks on anything. Radials are just better until you get to huge hp, then they start to show weakness as they don't fold like big slicks do, they just slip and spin due to the way they're made. If Mullet were to be converted to an 1/8th car it would never be an issue.
