God, it's the little things I love about this movie. like that guy in the tank, firing desperation shots, before trying to abandon his vehicle, only to be crushed by the beast's massive foot. I love this film, despite the flaws it can have. It's quite the ride.

It looks and sounds pretty believable. Sometimes the monsters look like CGI, slightly weird lighting, less detail than the real objects around them, but never too bad. It's satisfying to watch. The acting and script are unbelievable enough to remind me I am watching a movie. The actors ham things up for the screen, of course real people in these situations are more subtle, more focused on survival. To produce and direct a high-budget, entertaining monster-vs-city movie that is also fully believable, subtle, and realistic would require uncommon vision.
I've seen many people complain about the shaky cam and it's stupid. The guy isn't going to carry a tripod around while he gets attacked by a giant monster
Moviefan123 I don't think the camera really disadvantages them much in the movie and releasing the footage would be beneficial to both them and the world, so why not take the camera? The only foolish mistake with the camera was when he runs back to retrieve it at the end, which is unrealistic but has nothing to do with the shaky cam

I admit this isn't the greatest film ever, but as far as monster movies go, I hold it in pretty high regard. Shaky cam is an overused style, but I felt in this film it worked, and I like how the monster has a memorable look, and roar. It's not as iconic like Godzilla, or the T-Rex from JP, but it is a memorable roar which is more than I can say for current creature/monster films... looking at you Indominus Rex.

Poor Clover, it is simply a baby confused and scared as to why it is getting shot at constantly by the military just because of it being there. A child who is 250 feet tall with impervious outer skin and near unimaginable strength.

As much as I hate both found-footage movies and Michael Bay, this movie is actually pretty enjoyable. They do a great job with handling the monster effects, the tone is chaotic and actually quite scary at times, and the found footage gives a rare example of actually making you feel like you're there and in danger. I've been addicted to Cloverfield since the first one came out, all the secret and fictional sites like Tagruato and Slusho, got me sooo interested for months, LOVED the movie, can't understand why people complain about it so much. Now, I really wanted to get answers about where Clover came from, 10 Cloverfield Lane was a great movie but didn't offer much explanation and had loose connections to the original, The Cloverfield Paradox, even though not the greatest film ever, offered some wider insight, but I gotta admit, not what I was expecting at all! The monster took out the brooklyn bridge and the area nearby got heavily leveled before the group fled into the subway, escaping by chopper was probably only thing viable besides a boat maybe.
You can see in the creature's eyes that it is not a monster, but an animal, that does not know what it is doing there, but its defense system better known as wild instinct, gives the idea of a heartless creature. and with the humans shooting her it makes the poor baby confused, scared, sad and consequently more ANGRY!

I think Cloverfield is the perfect example of a found footage film where the lack of a full score or soundtrack really works in the movie’s favor. Because it adds to the sense of realism and pure dread. It makes you feel like you’re actually there witnessing the chaos and trying to escape the terror with our heroes.

@@adelbertgoldtooth8566 Beetles are basically parasites, exploding from venom is basically us stomping it causing it to splat blood, have a peace of rebar stuck in your chest is basically them getting stomped and barely moving, flying in helicopters and bombing is basically flying ants i guess, i don't know, and bombing is basically fireworks or some bomb that wen't off, and the Clover is basically dogs because they stand on all fours. I think Cloverfield is the perfect example of a found footage film where the lack of a full score or soundtrack really works in the movie’s favor. Because it adds to the sense of realism and pure dread. It makes you feel like you’re actually there witnessing the chaos and trying to escape the terror with our heroes.
