  • Tampa Bay is possibly one of the most ignored places in Florida by visitors. It is the state’s third largest city but people tend to think of visiting places like Orlando, Miami, Florida Keys or the beaches at places like Clearwater and St Petersburg. I was invited to Tampa to see if I thought travellers were missing out by not including the Tampa Bay area in any Florida trip. I found the city was very dynamic and had a lot going on. In this video I share the 11 very best things to do and see while in Tampa. I had five days there and had so much to do. Discover what it has to offer and see if you should be considering adding it as a destination or part of a wider Florida trip.
    I would love you to give the video a "thumbs up" and if you subscribed to the channel.
    Every week Gary Bembridge's Tips For Travellers Channel posts a video to help you make the most of your precious travel time and money on both land and at sea. First-hand travel inspiration, advice and tips based on the over 20 years I have been travelling every month.

    The Salvador’s Dali museum is a MUST! Make sure to do the tour because Dali was a very complex artist with several seasons of art types and many things you can’t see without it being pointed out in his paintings.

Funny though, I go to the islands, London, Paris, Mexico, Haiti and never visit my own home town. I think I will book a hotel and pretend to be a tourist in my own backyard because of this video. Very nice job of covering a huge variety of Tampa attractions - both for travelers and residents alike. This city is really coming of age, so it is much more than just sun and sand. I love Hyde Park and the whole Bayshore Blvd area. I am glad that it is really becoming a top downtown now. I remember when Harbor Island was developed 35+ years ago, but other than Ybor City, the downtown did not have a lot to draw one there. Now, there are tons of cultural options, tne Riverwalk is beautiful, and some new developments like Armature Works are great. I hope some of the public transit plans come to fruition, so downtown will not just be a congested mess with lots of ugly parking garages. I love the ferry and water taxis, as one needs to be on the water to experience TBA fully. Your voice is wonderful for narration as well! Thanks!

    Always impressed with your videos! I live in St. Petersburg, just over the bridge from Tampa. Your video is spot on! I just wish you included making a possible trip across the bridge over Tampa Bay to visit St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the many beaches close by. Overall, we’ll done Gary!

    We live in Tampa! 1) Busch Gardens. We were just there today! We go about 3 times a month. 2) Ybor City in College it was student night on Thursdays. There is a secret you missed in Ybor. It's called Cephus Hot Shop. 3 & 4) Waterstuff like boats and stuff not my thing but I guess that would be fun for people who like that stuff. 5) The Museum and UT is a pretty good place to go.. 6) The Museum of Art is pretty cool 7) Lowery Park is like a poor mans Busch Gardens except it cost almost just as much and there aren't any ride to speak about. They do have a splash pad so that's cool! 8) The aquarium is sub-par to some other ones around the Country. 9) Top Golf is fun if you got the $$$ 10) The Straz Center is awesome! 11) As for sports, they are pretty good! GO LIGHTING, RAY, AND BUS! 12) The Food Places are okey... I am surprised to didn't mention the Buddist Temple... I messed up the count!

    Totally agree. Tampa is a great city on the West Coast. Lots of influence from the mid-west USA. East Coast of Florida reflects a lot of the New York "vibe". West Coast reflects more of the Central - Midwest. Good point about sports - a very big sports town and much more affordable - accessible than places such as Boston, New York, etc. Great job.

      Tampa has low pay for all jobs. No pensions, no employer provided anything. You are all slaves in tampa.

      @Chris Brooks I'm from the northeast considering possibly to move to Florida and while doing my research, it keeps coming up that the east coast is more New York-ish and the wesrpt coast is more mid west influenced..........

    • @TheBigShuck
      @TheBigShuck 4 роки тому

      @@RG-hf4et I was born and raised in Tampa Bay... There are more New Yorkers living in Tampa Bay then what these comments lead you to believe. There's a reason why the Yankees have their spring training there, which wasn't even mentioned. St Pete has a ton to offer as well... The Spanish architecture is in abundance throughout the St Pete area. There's a ton of diversity from the North East and Midwest in the bay area, but most of all it has its own identity.

    Moved here in the area several years ago. I absolutely love it here. You pointed out many things that I have already discovered but there were also new ones that I intend to check out. One that I do believe you missed was Tampa History Museum. It is a must see.

      It's just expensive to live in Tampa. You don't visit a lot of the places downtown, because you are always working or just staying near your home to do things.

    Its definitely interesting to see someone that doesn't live in the Tampa area cover it as a cool place to visit. Really gave some perspective as every place I am like oh yeah that is over there etc. Thanks for reviewing and maybe I might take some time to check out some of those places that I have not been to. Definitely love the cigar places in the Tampa area and yes Ybor at night is definitely a whole different ball game than during the day time but its nice during the day. :) Thanks for the reviews.

    #12: Go to La Lechonera over on Armenia in West tampa. You'll get one of the best meals you've ever had for like 8 bucks. Armature works and all those new fancy places are good but I stick to the classic Tampa meals.
